Why not just a ban list?

I have a friend who has always wondered why we have tiers. He says that most people use OU anyways, and therefore tiers dont seem like much sense. Sure, there are people who like UU, but he just wonders why they cant just use all pokemon except for the ubers (ban list).

Are you saying you can't use UU Pokemon in OU? (because you can)

If you have like a 5th grade education, you can probably re-read what you just posted and tell your friend why it is wrong. Have a good evening.
 
Well, he just doesnt understand why you would want to use UU in the first place. But anyways, it doesnt really matter. I'll just tell him b/c people like to play UU regardless of what he thinks.
 
It's a matter of interest, pokefan13. People grow bored of the OU metagame so they play in UU or Ubers. Imagine if we only had one tier and that's OU. A lot of Pokemon would not see the light of day in competitive battling because they'd either be too weak or are banned

You may want to clarify that people play a game with all the OUs and BLs banned, rather than just making a "UU team" to be "original".
