Okay, I got a question here. What is the best way to counter machamp in OU?? Earlier today, I was versing someone who was abusing machamp's No Guard Dynamicpunch combo, making it almost impossible to find a safe switch in. Even with ghost types, machamp often carries payback, so they aren't a safe switch in.

As mentioned in the analysis, Slowbro beats Machamp. I have a team that runs a CM Slowbro, and he can shrug off any of Machamp's attacks, and ignores confusion.

Well, Spiritomb takes neutral damage from Payback and is immune to -Fighting attacks and has access to Will-O-Wisp, so that'd be a pretty good choice. Rotom-A i also good since it has access to W-o-W but it's Payback weak so you would have to predict your opponent's move.

Pokewalker question. I walked 3k steps on my pokewalker and the day changed. My steps disappeared but my watts were still there since I didn't turn in my pokemon to the DS yet. Do I have to walk another 5000 steps to catch a Magby now since it requires 5000 steps and it only says 300, or does it remember that I walked those 5000 steps yesterday?

The step counter says 300, not 5300.

I have a question about Action Replay: My friend is going to breed me an Eevee and use his action replay to edit the IV's/EV's. Would Eevee then be recognized as hacked when I do wifi battles? I am sort of hesitant to accept it because I don't want the game to be tainted with cheating and prevent me from doing competitive battles. If anyone has any input I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks =)

I just had a couple of battles on shoddy against hail, and got some VERY bizarre damage outputs occur in two battles against the same guy.

Simply put, his froslass held up incredibly well against some of my attacks. A CB Bullet Punch from my scizor did ~49% in the first battle, and when I thought I'd finish off (it was at 8%) with my scarf-flygon's U-Turn, U-Turn did 4%.

Then in the next battle (same guy), I hit it with Scarftar's Crunch and did like 85%.

According to Smogon's Calculator:

CB Technician Scizor's Bullet Punch (with 300 ATK since I run Careful with near max bulk) against 252 hp / 252 DEF Impish Froslass: 64.5% - 76.7%

Adamant Flygon's U-Turn against the same max-bulk froslass: 9% - 10.8%

Is there like some weird item that enhances Froslass' defense or am I missing something?

I guess the weirder thing should be seeing a 252hp/252def froslass to begin with!

I'm having some trouble with HeartGold and my AR. When I put my AR into my DS Lite, the screen comes up telling me to put in my game cart. But when I put in the HG cart, the DS restarts and goes back to the intro screen. However, if I try it with my retired DS original, it works fine. I've never hads this kind of problem with my AR before. Any ideas what oculd be wrong, and how to fix it? Thanks.

Are you saying that your AR doesn't recognize HG? You needed to enter the game code into your AR in order for it to recognize HG version. Game code is "IPKE", and game ID's is "4DFFBF91". If that's not the issue, then I'm not sure what to help. Maybe try asking questions in the PokeSav community forum. http://projectpokemon.org/forums/forumdisplay.php?80-Saves

It depends on how he does it. As far as I know, hack checks work by comparing the IVs with the PokeID. If he hacks it properly, it won't be detctable.

However, I'm not aware that the Wifi system looks for hacks the way the VGC does, so it's probably irrelevant.

I'm trying to breed an HP ICE 70 eevee. I have parents with x/x/x/31/31/31.
Right now I have a HP Dark 70, HP Dragon 70, and HP ICE 68. Which of these should I use to breed? The one of the two with 70, so I have a better chance of a 70? Or the HP Ice for a better chance of getting HP Ice?

Oh no, it's not that. On my original DS, the AR didn't recognise HG 'cos it's just out, so I had to put in the details etc. But, with my DS Lite, the DS just restarts as soon as you out the cartridge in.

2 questions, 1 I asked earlier and wasn't answered.

If a pokemon uses belly drum and gets guts activated, does the guts boost count for anything, or is it just counted as +6 boost from belly drum?
and
If I use sleep talk and choose protect, then choose portect again, etc. will it fail? Or would the set protect, detect, rest , sleeptalk, actually work?

My description for Belly Drum reads: "Reduces user's HP by half of total HP and increases user's Attack by 12 stages." Guts reads "Bearer's Attack is multiplied by 1.5 if it has a status problem." Note that Belly Drum raises stat stages while Guts raises Attack directly. Thus, to say that Belly Drum "maximizes Attack" is actually incorrect. Both effects are applied at once.

Hey does anyone use Pokesav for soulsilver/heartgold? I have a quick question. When trying to make a legit pokemon, I always get the following in my summary: "egg apparently hatched." Does anyone know how I could change this?

Did you save the logs? Otherwise all we can do is go on shoddy and test this. The calc for TTar shows that amount of damage as being approximately correct. Any chance you forgot to put CB on Scizor or that it was intimidated or something? I have confirmed your calcs with another calculator.
Could someone give a link on building stall teams, if their is one? Thanks!

Try this - its not quite polished yet mind

f I use sleep talk and choose protect, then choose portect again, etc. will it fail? Or would the set protect, detect, rest , sleeptalk, actually work?
I've tested this in Pokemon Emerald and found that using Protect through Sleep Talk can fail, just as though Sleep Talk weren't used beforehand. I researched this some more and it has to do with a variable which I call the "last move called". I've modified my attack explanations to add the following paragraph:
Another version of the "last move used" is the "last move called", which each Pokemon has. Whenever a Pokemon uses a move, even if it fails, the game sets the "last move called" to that move at the end of that Pokemon's turn. The variable can even be set to Mimic, Sketch, or Transform, but not to a move that uses another move if it does use another move. This variable doesn't change when the Bag command is used to use an item or when the Run command is used and fleeing is unsuccessful. The variable is reset when the Pokemon is replaced. The use of Pursuit while a Pokemon is being switched doesn't count as the "last move called". The "last move called" is reset if the move is prevented from being used.
And I've modified the explanatory note for Protect, Detect, and Endure so that it now reads:
If the last move called for the user is Protect, Detect, or Endure, the success rate for the move changes. ... The number of uses by a certain Pokemon begins at 0 and is increased by 1 upon a success. The number of uses is reset to 0 when that Pokemon is replaced, when one of these moves fails for that Pokemon, or when it uses one of these moves and the last move called is not Protect, Detect, or Endure.

In SS can you get a Shiny Stone before the Elite Four? It says you can buy one at the Pokéathlon but I think that's post EF because it's not there. It also says you can win one for getting first prize in the bug catching contest. Both times I won it I got a Sun Stone, so is that post EF too?

It's not a good idea to ask how to make a hacked Pokémon look legit here. If you're just going to use it in battles, it doesn't matter what the summary says. If you want to make it look legit so you can trade it, expect to get banned.

Thanks poccil. and (reply to above) "egg aperently hatched" means it was from a different game, btw, but you still aren't allowed on Smogon to trade it, or battle with it without mentioning it. And VGC will catch for sure, so it doesn't really matter either way, what it says.

You can't get a Shiny Stone before getting the National Dex (otherwise Togekiss would be in the regional dex). You need to get the National Dex before you can get a Shiny Stone from either the Pokeathlon or the Bug Catching Contest.

The Red Gyarados is probably the only Pokemon that you can catch right now that won't be well under the levels of your other Pokemon. If you don't want another Water-type, then you could get Girafarig or Growlithe. Girafarig starts out with Stomp and Confusion and quickly learns Psybeam and you can teach it Strength. It also has a good level up movepool. You can evolve Growlithe right away with a Fire Stone from the Pokeathlon (I think you can get one on Tuesday) and you can buy Fire Blast at the Goldenrod Department Store.
