What is more important to Lanturn? Being able to switch and scare Kabutops (surviving a LO Aqua Jet and Stone Edge on the rain) or outspeeding Claydol/Nidoqueen?

Hey does anyone use Pokesav for soulsilver/heartgold? I have a quick question. When trying to make a legit pokemon, I always get the following in my summary: "egg apparently hatched." Does anyone know how I could change this?
You have to figure out what ID and SID your character has, and then you have to make sure both ID and SID are also the same on your Pokemon. I can't really say much more about PokeSav in this place since there are a great majority of people here who won't tolerate anything about AR and PokeSav. Most of them cannot differentiate the boundary between the illegal hacks and legit hacks. Legit made Pokemon has no more than 510 EV, no illegal move sets, and sometimes but not always perfect spread of 31 IVs; they are Pokemon with stats and movesets that can be obtained through the natural course of the game. The differences is that PokeSaving saves time, while getting Pokemon legitly can be very time consuming by either soft-resetting, RNGing, breeding and egg hatching for good IV spread, but in the end both trainers will have similar results--if the PokeSaved Pokemon are made with legit stats and movesets.

It's better to go here for more detail regarding AR and PokeSav: http://projectpokemon.org/forums/forumdisplay.php?80-Saves

Good luck.

I have a question about Protein, Carbos, Calcium, ect., in EV training. When I try to use them on my pokemon, they say they will not have any effect. That should be because of one of two reasons: they have 252 in that stat or they have already used 10 of that item. I thought I maxed out my Heracross' attack and speed but that can't be the case because I tried to give it Calcium and HP and that worked. That would mean that he got 20 EVs when it should have only of been possible for him to get 4 more. I even used the Calcium first after reloading my game to make sure that maybe the HP will add 4 instead of 10 but it didn't work out that way. Can anyone explain to me what's going on.

You can only give your Pokemon vitamins for the first 100 EVs in a stat. So if you raise your Spe to 152, you won't be able to give it any Carboses. You would have had to give it the Carboses before you give it any EVs from training.

Let's say that I have 252 EVs in my Gengar's special attack and no other EVs anywhere else. If I continue to train against Flaaffy's with Macho Brace, will that deduct from my total EV count? (The remaining 256 that I have).

Flaafy gives 2 SpAtk, right? If so, then the first one you fight after getting 252 EVs will give you 3 to get you to 255. After that, you won't be able to gain any more SpAtk EVs and it won't count for the 510 maximum.

The Red Gyarados is probably the only Pokemon that you can catch right now that won't be well under the levels of your other Pokemon. If you don't want another Water-type, then you could get Girafarig or Growlithe. Girafarig starts out with Stomp and Confusion and quickly learns Psybeam and you can teach it Strength. It also has a good level up movepool. You can evolve Growlithe right away with a Fire Stone from the Pokeathlon (I think you can get one on Tuesday) and you can buy Fire Blast at the Goldenrod Department Store.

i have platinum so i could trade something over..... all i want to know is what shall i trade?

Hey I have a question about weakness/resistance.
Let's use Gliscor for example. He is Ground/Flying type. Electric pokemon aren't very effective against ground, but they are very effective against flying. So would he be hurt by electric moves or not?

The Ground type multiplies damage from Electric attacks by 0.
The Flying type multiplies damage from Electric attacks by 2.

Say an Electric attack tries to deal 100 damage to Gliscor. We multiply 100 by 0, getting 0; then we multiply 0 by 2, getting 0. Thus, the Electric attack now deals 0 damage to Gliscor.

Why don't we look at a different example, we'll take gliscor again, but this time let us use a rock move. Say it would normally deal 100 damage, flying is weak to it, so it doubles to 200, but ground resists it so divide by 2, you get 100 still. Namely, resistence and weakness cancel out, but like the above post states, weakness + immunity, remains immune.

Hello everyone xD! I've been a lurker for a couple of weeks ow and I want to get involved in competing in standard pokemon play. :]

MY questions:

Does the RNG work with HGSS?

Can someone explain it in a more nooby manner? (I've read the guides many times and still feel a little lost).

Those are my questions for now xD

Does every legendary Pokemon in HGSS respawn if you knock them out and then defeat the Elite Four again? I am particularly interested in the roamers for this question.

Do their stats (nature/IVs) change for each respawn?

I really want to know the answers to these questions as well. Can anyone shed some light on them?

Sorry to ask again. But I gotta know and you guys know better than me.

"I got a simple question. If a pokemon with SIMPLE uses FOCUS ENERGY what critical stage would they be at? 3 or 5?

And if it is 5, couldn't the maximum crit ratio exceed 50%? For exampe a NUMEL who uses FOCUS ENERGY with any hold item that increases crit ratio putting onto stage 6 (Or focus energy Baton Passed Bibarrel holding an item)?

Show your logic, evidence or source. None of this "I think" business please. This has been bugging me for ages..."

Yeah. If you kill the Red Gyarados, it respawns when you best the E4.

From what I gather, Simple only affects stat modifiers, i.e. attack, defense, etc. Crit ratio is not a stat, so if you used Focus Energy, your crit stage would be 2. I don't know where you got 3 or 5.

Question, when you guys received your Togepi in HGSS, what move did you get that struck you as odd? I received Extrasensory, but it's not listed in the Bulbapedia as a starting move in HGSS, only an egg move, so I was just wondering if the move is random or something.

As you can read here, Extrasensory is on all Togepi received at the Pokémarkt.

I was planning on making a Granbull with the ability Quick Feet a part of my team, the only question I have is that if I induce myself with let's say Sleep, will I still get the 50% speed boost when awakened ?

With regard to countering Machamp:

A Rotom-A with Reflect does a fairly good job of countering Machamp. If machamp lacks substitute, Will-o-wisp also works well. Though largely outclassed by Rotom-A otherwise, Dusknoir counters machamp excellently, taking very little damage from payback by virtue of being slower. Remember that Dynamicpunch only has 8PP, so if you can get reflect up or burn Machamp, you have taken a big step towards wasting it. Stuff like bulky salamence and gyarados can intimidate it to ruin its attack, and resist Dynamicpunch. Gliscor and Celebi have great defense, resist dynamicpunch, and have recovery, and Cresselia walls it to no end (not OU, but still viable)

Not exactly reliable, but about as reliable as it gets I'm afraid.
