I'm looking to add a good set-up sweeper to my OU team. Can anybody think of a somewhat underrated and/or UU sweeper that uses a boosting move?
Perhaps Rhyperior or Aggron, the former having Swords Dance and Rock Polish, the latter having Rock Polish

Oh and Haunter, you said that you usually make a new thread when it gets to around 100 pages, this thread is 173 pages. New thread soon?

I think you should keep that Metagross since you can just invest a few more speed EVs to outrun Skarmory and it's HP, Atk, Def, and SpDef are good, too.

XD gale of darkness is where I got mine. Otherwise using theif on every wild chansey. GL

Frisk + Theif Stantler can help stealing it since it will tell you when the Chansey actually has one. Also, you can find them fairly easily in the tropy garden as one of the daily Pokemon.

Has anyone else had HGSS crash upon resuming from standby (when the DS lid is closed). Seems to happen quite often, more likely the longer it's left. Don't think it ever happened with any other games, but since Soul Silver's been the only thing in my DS since the UK launch it may just be the console going funny.
YES! Holy shit, I thought it was just me! I don't even close over my DS anymore without saving the game first!

I don't know if this necessarily belongs here or not, so I'll go ahead apologize in advance if it does not.

I was thinking about trying to go through Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness in order to obtain some Pokemon with unique moves to use in Wi-Fi battles/maybe set up a trade thread if the Pokemon turn out decently, and I had a few questions:
1) Does any form of RNG abuse exist in Pokemon XD?
2) Can you re-battle Cipher Boss Greevil multiple times?
3) Any suggestions for other Pokemon I should try for/ other natures for Pokemon on the list below?

Poochyena–Heal Bell (Adamant / Maybe Impish?)
Mawile–Sing (Jolly)
Duskull–Helping Hand (Relaxed/Impish)
Snorunt–Sing (Timid?)
Natu–Baton Pass(Modest/Bold Calm Mind Passer?)
Spearow–Baton Pass(Adamant)
Grimer–Helping Hand(Careful?)
Lunatone–Baton Pass(Bold)
Nosepass–Helping Hand(Calm/Modest?)
Togepi–Tri Attack(Modest)
Beedrill–Baton Pass(Jolly)
Hypno–Baton Pass(Calm)
Dodrio–Baton Pass(Jolly)
Kangaskhan–Sing(Adamant)
Rapidash–Baton Pass(Jolly)
Solrock–Baton Pass(Adamant/Bold)
Swellow–Baton Pass(Jolly)
Mr. Mime–Follow Me (Calm?/Timid)
Marowak–Sing(Adamant/Brave)
Articuno–Heal Bell, Extrasensory, Haze(Calm)
Zapdos–Baton Pass, Extrasensory, Metal Sound(Timid/Modest with Hidden Power Grass/Ice)
Dragonite–Heal Bell(Careful/Calm)

Is it me, or do all of the Group C Pikachus from Yellow Forest have at least 1 stat with a 31 IV? I was looking through my boxes and couldn't help notice the characteristics were "Alert to Sound", "Mischevious", "Likes to Thrash About", etc.

*list of XD Pokemon cut to shrink quote*
1. No. You'll need to do things the old-fashioned way.
2. Yes, but his (and all shadow) Pokemon's IVs and such are set in stone whe you first meet them, so if you beat him and miss something, it won't be different the next time you see it. Combine this with the fact that you need to win a battle to actually get the Pokemon you Snag and that Greevil is the last boss, and you'll find that it's impossible to SR the birds without some way to copy XD files, which can't be done without some kind of cheat device.
3. That looks like about everything, maybe do the other Helping Hand ghosts as well? Then again, it's not like anyone uses Banette or Sableye. Also, surely Impish would be better for Solrock than Bold?

If you do this, good luck. You'll need it for Togepi (4th gen evolution can mess with its ability) and the birds (since they can't be SRed).

Pokewalker IVs confusion.

Just a coincidence, besides, those characteristics don't guarantee a perfect IV, just that the highest IV will be of that stat and will end in a 6 or a 1.
If you demand 'proof' I can trade to you several group C pikachus with absolutely horrid IVs upon your convenience.

Most apt suggestion, further expounded upon.

Or, you can just skip Stantler if it's too much bother and teach thief to something that will OHKO it every time, though you'll get a lot of oval stones. Also, chaining them is generally a good idea, Chansey isn't very common.

DS freezing issue.

It's your DS, not your game. I've had the same issue with my DS, and several of my friends have as well. Best thing to do is to simply try and remember to save as much as possible and turn off your DS when you're finished with it. (I'm going to assume you have a DS lite? It has never happened to me on my DSi or my old DS classic, just on my DS lite.)

Breeding confusion.

If the Everstone was not placed on the ditto or on the female the Everstone would have failed. If your parents were from different countries it would also fail.
Now, for your other question, if you have one power item on you have a 100% chance of passing down an IV, this is not affected by having the female hold an Everstone (Note: I am very happy with that set-up. Yay Gamefreak.) If both parents hold power items it seems to be around a 75-80% chance that any IV will be inherited (Two parents with perfect IVs in attack and speed respectively holding Power Anklet and Bracer, corresponding to their perfect IV gave me 79 eggs with a perfect attack IV, 76 with a perfect speed IV, and 6 with neither a perfect attack or speed IV out of 100 eggs generated.) Make of that what you will.

Hall of Fame Forms.
In Heart Gold and Soul Silver, yes. As do Shaymin and Deoxys' seperate forms. I'm not entirely sure about Platinum.

The times When I manage to win at shoddy OU tier with my Gyarados, Empoleon, Kingdra, Rotom-w, Scizor, and Electivire Rain team, I usually have a sequence of events that are similar to this...
1) Early Sweep
2) Opponent KOs most my pokemon
3) Late Sweep with either Empoleon or Scizor
4) Win Condition for me. (if I win)

How do I help remove step #2?

Thanks for the response, but i know for a fact that the everstone was on the female, (using Ralts and Gengar, ralts is girl). Though, i did obtain the gengar from a random trade, so it might be from another country (plus i'm pretty sure its hacked). Gosh, i have no idea.

I tried the breeding again without the power item, and i only got one timid out of like 7 eggs, (was everstoning timid), so i don't think it was working again. The only thing i can think of is that the gengar is fooking things up.

The new effect of the power-items makes me wonder if they still have the ev boosting effect, does anyone know that? Still trying to decide whether I should continue breeding in diamond or clone some parents over to Heartgold and start there. with the main negative in Heartgold being the lack of iv check and fast breeding/egg hatch

Why wouldn't they still have that effect? Their descriptions are the same as before, so yes, they still do what they're known for.

Couple questions:

What would the best way to observe competitive battling be? I am reading war stories and watching any videos I can find. Are there any well known YouTube channels dedicated to battles? I am mainly interested in OU to get started.

Also in terms of eggs, how do the origins work for them? I want one of my Pokemon to hatch in the Lighthouse in SS, however I do all of my breeding in Platinum. Am I able to trade the egg over to SS, and when I do what information will be on the ID, such as trainer.

Am I correct in thinking that on route 25, the only patch of grass is east of Bill's house? Because I've talked to my poke on every grass patch and still no shiny leaf :(

Wow, this happens me too. I blamed my old ds because my Platinum used to freeze a lot, sometimes if I dropped it, sometimes because I had a huge streak going at Battle Frontier and fate wanted to remind me that I'm it's bitch. But with SS it completely turns your ds off, it doesn't just freeze it, I lost a Ho-Oh that way the other week. (It had a better nature the second time I caught it anyway).

Question: Is there any way you can lose items? I swear I had a Power Belt (I have both an Umbreon and a Forretress that I must have trained in Defence) but now I can't find it anywhere. I haven't traded, I haven't released anything, I've checked the daycare, I've checked my party, I've checked every box but it's completely vanished. I'm really starting to doubt my sanity.

Oh and I gave up looking for my last shiny leaf, the first 4 took like 15 minutes but I couldn't find the last one after hours of searching. So if I really give a shit I'll just use a different Pokémon and start over at some point. (Because there's effectively no proof that every Pokémon can get 5 leaves).
