Charizard had a very original typing. Venasaur was infamous for it's Poison/Grass typing. There are about 4 Defensive Water/Ground Pokemon.

lol. I think Ant-Dragon is more random than Strider-Moth.

I am also curious how Skitty - Wailord is so infamous while Wailord - Diglett isn't given a second thought.

An antlion is a big beetle with giant jaws that digs pits in sand to capture ants. It metamorphoses into an adult that looks like a dragonfly with a flexible tail. They're also called doodlebugs.

I think the reason people focus on Skitty more is that it looks so innocent (its ability is Cute Charm, for crying out loud) whereas Diglett is just a stupid phallic symbol that annoyed the hell out of us in RBY by popping up every three feet in his cave.

Haha nice vid Jonathan, but that would mean Pokabu would be another Fire/Fighting! :(

Well, appart from Venusaur and Swampert... (which is still more original than Water/Ice), the evos were pretty original (for those who had an extra typing).

Also, I see the Grass/Fire/Water core mixed with the Dark/Psychic/Fighting core. That would be nice.

Surskit to Masquerain makes sense...kinda. Mosquitoes' larvae thingies are kinda like Surskit (even though Surskit is a water strider) and they eventually turn into flying bugs, mosquitoes, like Masquerain which happens to not be a mosquito but you get the idea.

How can

Let alone an Otter to a Polar Bear.

point taken, however none of the starters have completely changed species before. they've all shown a pretty linear advancement when evolving; ending up as a bigger and more "grown up" version of their first form. I frankly just can't envision the final form of the otter, while at the same time keeping it an otter...

Venasaur didn't have a very origional typing back then, and has kind of carried on, but Swampert's is pretty exclusive.....All I'm saying there is a possibility that water/ice will happen b/c it's appearance, color scheme, snowman-like features, and it's not too uncommon for a starter to share their typing.

I originally thought the same thing about the Dark/Psychic/Fighting core. I can imagine the Pig evolving into a dark type, the grass a Psychic, and the Otter a fighting type (I still believe it will be an ice type, though.).

Chances are it won't look much like a Polar Bear but will be just as big and have a similar adaptations (transparent fur, black skin, etc.). It can be a Polar Bear while still resembling it's original form.

I know, I am just saying it isn't foreign for GF to have a Pokemon evolve into an entiely different species.

I knew about the Ant lion, but I didn't know that it metamorphosed.....interesting.....But I still think that Beetle to Dragon is a change of species.

...Man, all that hot whale-on-cat action makes me want to go look at some "fan art" of that female trainer. Oh wait, no it doesn't. She's still a freakin' twelve year old. Seriously, some people are messed up in the head.
The trainers are older this time so she might be 16. That's legal in some states.;)

I care not for pornography of the female trainer, but she is in at least her late teens, if not an adult.

lol. I have been waiting for a Frill Neck since I first heard about Gen 3.

I think the protagonists are 18...At least that's what the male protagonist looks like.
The male protagonist also looks kind of similar to Red....

And the Bikes are back. If you look at one of PokeBeach's scans there is a picture of the male protagonist on a bike in the middle of the road/walkway.

I see the pig as fire/dark, but the other two are imo grass/fighting (smug look) and water/psychic (clown/juggler/weirdness)

I wouldn't say that's a smug look. He looks kinda hazed out. What if he ends up like Slakoth, just lying there and seeing imaginary, colorful spots floating around.

The grass starter has more of an arrogant or eccentric look than something willing to run up and slam you in the face. It also isn't in a very fighting-like pose. These lead me to believe it would be part Psychic...But I don't think we should think about it too much until it's confirmed to even have a secondary typing evo, let alone a ring..

if the otter were to change into a polar bear (which I would welcome with open arms) it would have to be gradual. Like the second evo would look like a halfotterbear, then an all out bad ass polar bear (sunglasses and coke not included). It would make a lot of people confused, but no one would care because we would have a freaking polar bear for a starter!

On a more serious note, the otter is growing on me. I like all three, even if they are not exactly what we all wanted. I love the pig the most though...

I think the starters should be more powerful this time around. I want the feeling i got in red and blue that the starters were special (even if it wasn't quite accurate)

EDIT: I'm looking at the grass starter, and it has to be a dragon. It just has way too similar a body type to dragonite...

seems very plausible... well crap, now I'll be disappointed if it doesn't turn out like this. regardless of how the final evos turn out, I'm using the Pig starter.

speaking of the pig starter; notice how the ears and black face spot look like a bandana? well, sometimes chefs wear bandanas while cooking instead of the standard hat. Pig = pork, Fire type= BBQ!

... well I thought it was interesting...

The grass starter should be Grass/DARK, that would be so badass.

it would be pretty cool

The grass starter should be Grass/DARK, that would be so bad.
lol. But as I said, it looks more eccentric like Roserade which leaves me to believe it would be the Psychic type. Me and several other people mentioned the Pig being Dark...but that's mainly b/c it has the black skin patterns.

Back in the day, they were the staple of your team. The eeveelutions were used to support them, than Mewtwo was the power house.

I have the same hope that they are. They were very close w/ the Gen 4 starters.

*Warning* I will now refer to the Pig as "Bacon" until Generation VI

No joke

...You know what I'm referring to, right?

Are you telling me you've never watched any Homestar Runner cartoons? Come on, how did you spend your childhood? Doing something productive? Bah!

@Scuba Steve: Haha nice. It looks so much better with its nose below its eyes...I really don't understand why GameFreak's designers chose to put it right in between them. Did you draw this?
Ha I couldn't draw to save my life xD I just found it on another forum and I thought it was pretty slick. I actually never notice it's eyes, that is a little weird.

It would be nice if we got a Grass/Normal poke.
Quite original. Then give it a nice attack, Spore and Extremespeed.
There's no need to wish for Swords Dance, seeing that every damn grass poke learns it.
SD + Spore+ STAB Extremespeed (and give it Power Whip as well) would be... hard to counter. By a lot.

The problem is

a) very low chance of a grass type learning E-Speed

b) very redundant coverage (normal + grass)

c) very low chance of another good Spore abuser

d) very low chance of Spore + E-Speed on the same Pokemon

It would work better on another Bidoof, seeing water + normal = unresistant bar Empoleon/Shedinja. Maybe just give it to the present Bibarel to abuse Simple + Curse + E-Speed. Then you might as well give it Yawn if guaranteed sleep is needed and Waterfall.
