Hey everybody, ive just created this account, although I've used smogon for a long time, and well i did not see a "ask a simple question..." thread in the wifi part so i guess i can post this here...

In PBR, is it actually possible to have online wi-fi battle with 6 pokemons for each player?? It would have thaught it to be logical but so far I've only managed to have 3 or 4 (depending on simple or double ) battles. Is it actually possible to have 'standard' battles with 6 pokes each??

Also, where can i express how much i admire the work put into this website, as a newcomer?

When a pokemon is newly traded into a game, is Frustration's power boosted up to 102? or do I need to do I need to let the pokemon faint a few times?
Also, when will Frustration's power start to drop? I'm sure the walk from the PC to the Wi-fi room won't make a difference, right?

You can only use 6 pokemon online if you are battling a friend.

Thanks, Yanma. For your question, Frustration is at 102 power when happiness is at 0. When u trade a pokemon , it happiness only goes to 70, which means Frustration will be at 74 BPower. You have to faint the pokemon a few times, but i would advise to give it revival herbs after its fainted too, because it is much faster.
Also, a pokemon's happiness gains 1 point every 256 steps, so no the walk to the wifi room wont make a difference . Just faint it every 50 battle or so^^

Marionic, some people actually use Ludicolo in OU, so the article can deal with using it in OU as well.

I'm planning on using a Mesprit lead for my OU Rain team, but I'm not sure what set to use. Any ideas? Is Mesprit outclassed as an OU Rain lead?

Yes. Azelf is faster and has Explosion and Taunt, making more useful for setting up rain and bringing in a sweeper.

Modest Milotic@ Life Orb with
Surf/HP Electric/ Hypnosis or Ice Beam/ Recover

Spread #1 is from the analysis: 152 HP/80 Defense/220 SpAtk/56 Speed...
It gives Milotic 212 Speed to outrun most slow guys, enormous special attack with life orb, and average defenses

Spread #2, one of my friends has been working on for me: 252 HP/168 Defense/88 Special Attack... It gives Milotic wonderful defenses and above average special attack... 394 HP/236 Defense/286 Special Defense takes a good amount of hits and 282 Special Attack with the Life Orb is enough to OHKO or 2HKO some major threats...

Spread #3 was also made by a friend: 68 Def/252 Spatk/190 speed... It gives Milotic 211 Defense, 328 Special Attack, and 244 Speed... However instead of outfitting it with a Life Orb, Milotic gets a Salac Berry, so that it can attack until its HP is relatively low, then use recover after the Salac Berry activates, letting it outspeed (even max speed Latias) and then truly sweep.

So...
A. Which spread do I go with?
B. Would said moveset like Ice Beam or Hypnosis?

I would think, the 3rd spread or the 1st spread. As you want to outspeed Head Smash Aggron so it doesn't 2HKO you on the switch.

Said moveset would like Ice Beam against those pesky Venusaur switch ins. Hypnosis has crappy accuracy, and with LO Venusaur running amok in this metagame, you can always bring one of those with a MUCH MORE accurate sleep powder.

Probably. As mentioned, Azelf is faster and more powerful, gets Taunt (very useful) and Explosion (potentially useful). Mesprit is bulkier, but then Uxie is bulkier still and faster than Mesprit.
Mesprit would probably be better as a non-lead supporter. Rain Dance, Healing Wish perhaps, couple of attacks.

I forgot, these movesets are for OU...! SO which one?

My 10-year-old, Pokemon-obsessed cousin is
visiting next week, and demands a battle.

The past times I've battled him, he used
mostly/all in-game Ubers, Dialga/Palkia/
Giratina/Arceus and such.

I know he doesn't EV/IV train, so this should be
fairly simple.

What team does Smogon suggest I use to
absolutely shame him?

Moveset/EV suggestion for a Doubles Darkrai (mainly for PBR Ubers use)? I've got a Timid one and was thinking something along the lines of:

~Protect
~Dark Void
~Thunder
~Dark Pulse

Any suggestions?

this team is for in game because i haven't beaten red yet, but i may try competitive battleing. PLEASE DON'T SAY "in-game doesn't matter", or "this team would get destroyed"
PLEASE ONLY POST IF IT WILL ANSWER MY QUESTION!

Find the biggest baddest Pokemon that can use moves to put him to sleep haha, then have a whole team full of Pokemon that can sleep him and use weaknesses.

Or you could do the FEAR tactic and have a level 1 with focus sash use endeavor then quick attack. He would probably rage if you get a Rattata to kill his Dialga.

I haven't been on in a few days, and I apparently missed something important:

Is Latias now Uber or is it still being tested/OU?

And one last question:

I am making a double Tailwind team. What are some good Pokemon w/ an attack/special attack through the roof but can't normally be used b/c not good enough speed? I am already running Marrowak + Salamence/Nite, and was thinking maybe Pory Z, but I still wan't to make sure I'm not overlooking a real powerhouse.....

Since I'm assuming he wont be smart enough to switch, why not a baton pass chain? Lead with umbreon for a mean look yawn pass, go to drifblim to set up 3 stockpiles so priority won't mess you up. Carry sub and hynosis in case he wakes up. Make sure everyone has sub. Go to ninjask now that you have your defense boots and max speed and attack with swords dance and spped boost. pass to bidoof with simple. Sweep with return/waterfall/pluck/tackle. Make sure his last mon is finished by tackle for extra lolz

While playing in the battle factory I had an Infernape use U-turn holding a Coba Berry. I switched to a Feraligator holding a Kings Rock, but the opponent got flinched. Does this mean when you U-turn the effects of the new pokemon's item comes into effect?

Haha that would make him just about cry. I was also thinking either an Uber Rain team or a variant on a Battle Tower team (I forget who made it, I think Jumpman?) with Mesprit leading, and Accupressure Drapion setting up for the sweep. Thoughts?

use sash/leftovers(depend if his lead is a dragon or not) DD mence with DD,dragon claw, EQ and filler, then sweep his entire team, what is worst then get swept by the lead of a team?

True, true. I kinda want something unconventional but incredibly powerful though. I was thinking something involving a Wobbuffet, or overall something I can enjoy beating his ass with, not just using one pokemon haha

If there's no species clause, a team of 6 wobbufet would be fun. If you have patience, you could do some kind of PP stall team. Something like zapdos with sub/roost/detect/protect would make him tear his hair out thanks to pressure.

However, remember that smogon is about competitive battling. I don't think SQSA was designed for something like this. Even if this is OK, I'm not sure how the mods would feel about this discussion.

You can do something like this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o8sp7mwlC78&feature=related

I made a team w/ 6 completely forgotten + Gimmicky Pokemon (Spinda,Torkoal, Delibird, etc.) or just 6 Pokemon the other player thinks is extremely weak.....And had some fulfilling victories.

Keep in mind he probably doesn't know much at all about Stealth Rock and Spikes, but if he's not smart enough to be switching, they probably won't be very useful. I like the idea of using Acupressure. Drapion and Shuckle are great candidates for the job, the former being the best in my opinion, but the latter is still viable. Maybe run something unconventional like I do to counter any major power his team is packing, in the form of Metal Burst Dialga. It has ended many more sweeps in Ubers than I would have thought possible, mainly in the form of Latios sweeps. If he's really terrible at predicting, you could use something like my Absol set to wreck his entire team with little to no trouble at all.
My Absol:
Absol
Focus Sash
Adamant
252 Atk 252 Spe 4 Hp
Sucker Punch
Superpower
Taunt
Swords Dance
Swords Dance on the attack, and if your down to minimal HP, Sucker Punch for maximum damage, if it kills, they will almost always switch in a Dark resist, mainly in the form of the Steel type, which is when you take advantage of them with Superpower. That would probably be something to laugh at

And to Uberrific, mods won't care as long as we're answering a question and contributing to the community. And by the way, Detect and Protect follow the same counter, as well as Endure, so if you use Protect/Detect/Endure once, and then any of them a second time, it's always going to be a 50% chance, then 25%, 12.5%, so on and so forth, no matter what combination of those 3 moves you are using
