Non-Pornographic Avatars

Ok, I have been on this site for a while now and I have seen some distrubing pornographic avatars lately, I would like to evert my eyes, and I would like the other smogonites to have some dignity as well. If these are avatars, shouldnt they be only consisted to FireBot??
I am sorry for bringing this up, but it is disturbing for me, and it might be for some others as well
These avatars are disgusting, I dont suggest in any way to ban these people at all, just their avatars, but if is too much for mods to check every avatar, I understand, I just wanted to bring this up

I can understand your issue, many people don't like seeing that sort of thing. It's not against any rules for them to have women in lingerie as their avatars, however, but there is something that you can do to fix it for your personal use.

Go to "User CP > Edit Options" and scroll down to the "Thread Display Options" section. Once there, uncheck the "Avatars" box. This is especially useful when viewing Smogon or websites where these avatars are allowed at work. It will disable you from seeing your own avatar, however, but if this issue bothers you enough for you to post about it, the loss of seeing your own avatar likely will not bother you that much.

Or if you have adblock, just block specific images you don't want to see.

Honestly I wouldn't mind a "not safe for work = not allowed in avatar or signature" rule. It's easy enough to stay out of Firebot 'til I get home, but I'd like to be able to browse Smogon on a public computer without needing to scroll quickly past certain users.

If it's really an issue just block images from smogon (or their avatars). I don't really see how it's 'disgusting' or 'disturbing'. If it was a two girls one cup avatar I would totally understand the use of such words, but honestly is it disturbing?

Yours, from a while back, and lucaliber's atm seem rather repulsive. At least more repulsive than... DM or Aldaron? Who exactly are we finger pointing here.

I'm for blocking people blocking images if they have a problem with it. Rules won't be followed by anyone who matters, and those who don't matter will likely have their avatar changed anyway. You'll have to deal with it yourself anyway.

We all have different "standards" for what we find "repulsive". I'm completely fine with every avatar I've seen, and in the case that I'm not it's not a large matter to use AdBlock or User CP options to take them out. I get where you're coming from, but Smogon can't account for everybody's tastes. Some people can't even stand swearing. In fact, for some people this place shouldn't even exist... Anyway, I recommend what Rising Dusk suggested.

The thing is, if you are browsing smogon on a work/school/library computer, then it won't probably have Adblock or similar, and then you can't block it. It works for home use, though.

There really are so many options available to you, as a user, to customize your own viewing experience that I don't really feel the need to implement a new rule here or purge avatars based on my subjective evaluation of their appropriateness.

I suggest that anyone commonly offended by avatars or sig images on Smogon read this thread (which contains good suggestions on how to fix your problem) and take action. Be responsible for yourself. We are not here to nanny our users at this level.

Please do not understand me to be insensitive to the issue. The power to fix the problem already lies in your hands. Please exercise it.
