move 1: Substitute

move 4: Thunderbolt / Signal Beam
item: Leftovers
nature: Timid
evs: 96 HP / 188 SpA / 224 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

<p>
Pros:
-Substitute blocks the "Triple T's" (Toxic, Trick, and Twave) which otherwise plague Uxie as well as Sucker Punch and Critical Hits
-Calm Mind allows it to set up on and beat many of UUs top threats
-Great initial defenses even before a Calm Mind
-Outspeeds all Moltres and Rotom without Scarves

Counters:
-Haze Milotic
-SpD Drapion
-Most Spiritomb
-Chansey
-Encore Clefable

Partners:
-SpD Drapion can take on most of those threats
-CB Scyther scouts for troublesome Registeel and Pursuit traps Chansey
-Mismagius can take advantage of any holes Uxie creates, and vice versa
-Offensively, Beat Up Passho Houndoom can take them out.

PS: EVs are to beat Timid Moltres 100% of the time if you come in to revenge (CM, Tbolt, Tbolt), although I'm sure there's some other benchmark that would be more beneficial.

here is my thoughts - this set can be effective if used properly, but its really questionable as a solo set when mismagius is available to be used. they basically share the exact same counters, except this beats registeel a little easier at the cost of losing to chansey.

i think a fun partner can be mismagius tbh - one will damage the other's counters with cm boosted attacks enough, allowing the other to sweep. i'd like to test this whole concept out first though, but i can really see double cm sub shining when 2 bulky + over base 90 speed pokemon are doing it.

The difference between Mismagius and this set is that Uxie has the immediate defensive prowess to boot without the boost. I've tried this set when I was testing the RestTalk Uxie with Calm Mind and it this really holds its weight against offensive teams. Uxie's Speed is excellent combined with its great bulky. I do have some suggestions if this gets approved:

-set comments have to be scary specific when combating with bulky/stall teams. this will not past milotic and whipping it out early will lose this sets sheen. sub with take 25% as milotic comes in and can haze it quite easily. this worked fantastically for me lategame, so you might want to mention that. or you might just mention scouting out milotic's full moveset, afterall, it's the most popular haze user.

-run this with cb scyther when you're playing this on an offense team. especially run one with pursuit. it comes in on chansey, easily pursuits it for uxie to eat up later. also lets you scout registeel switch-ins.

As a pretty extensive user of SubCM Uxie even before Cresselia dropped and again after it was banned, I feel qualified to say this thing is basically an auto-win condition if your opponent lacks a Haze/Encore user. (which reminds me I need to add in Encore Clefable as a counter...) Think of Cradily but without the wasted team slot you need in Hippo. It's almost impossible to break after a couple CMs.

I also would really like help on the EV spread since I'm pretty sure mine is sub-optimal... beating Timid Tres is good but there has to be something better :\

Hi Rolf, I use this set alot and from my experience it can be useful to use energy ball over thunder bolt because you can still hit milotic and other bulky waters for alot, but you arent getting walled as hard by Steelix and Rhyperior who really annoy this set when you run tbolt / signal beam / hp fight. (<- which should be slashed also no?) Moltres will be kod 100% of the time assuming you have sr since +1 psychic does 54.5% - 64.5% and thats the only advantage tbolt has over energy ball really.

Like franky said i ran this with a strong pursuiter that could handle chansey and with rhyperior to guarantee me a solid registeel counter.

A mention of how it sets up on non haze milotic, and weezing two of the tiers most common defensive pokemon should be mentioned. I would also like to note that I've toyed with lower amounts of speed but the set is most effective at max speed as it provides more opportunities to sub up.

I've run this set quite a few times and really like it, mostly due to Uxie's unusually high Speed for a supporter. However, I think the EV spread could be better. The one I've been using is 32 HP/252 SpA/224 Spe. 224 Speed is enough to outspeed Timid Rotom, not 232 (Unless you're scared of Chatot, I don't think you need the extra 8 EVs). Uxie needs every inch of Special attack possible, in my opinion, which is why max Special Attack is beneficial. Uxie's bulk is good enough so lacking 16 HP isn't going to be that detrimental, in my opinion.

The HP is specialized to never be 2HKO'd by a Timid LO Moltres Fire Blast after SR damage and a CM (since you're faster and you're not switching in...), and I believe that is at least the bare minimum. The Speed was a screwup on my part, so I will change that.

But why would you need to worry about taking LO Moltres fire blasts? In theory you should just run enough to at least outpace moltres (and rotom really) so that after a cm you can easily ko them. (moltres will be ko'd after sr damage.) By running enough to outpace these threats and as much as possible in spa (maybe take some out of spA to get enough hp evs for a good sub number?) you will have an effective ev spread.

I've been using this very same set, except with max SpA and Energy Ball over T-Bolt. Energy Ball ensures it won't be a deadweight against pokemon such as Steelix and Rhyperior. I really don't see much need for Signal Beam, though, except against pure Grass- and Psychic-types, and the rare Exeggutor. Uxie's base 75 Special Attack is rather low for a CM set, so maximum Special Attack is beneficial. Maybe the spread 32HP/252SpA/224Spe could be put in the Additional Comments?

@Yondie - My spread also KOs Timid Moltres at +1 after SR. I just usually don't plan on having SR up since spinners are so common this round / lately. Anyways, there is really nothing I need to specially aim for on the SpA EVs. It's the HP EVs I should focus on optimizing because it really doesn't matter how much SpA I put in if I can get another Calm Mind with the extra bulk. (HP EVs) Unless there is something specific that maxing SpA does, I'm not going to add it. If someone find something that I should add HP EVs to prevent something from breaking Subs, that's much more helpful.

@Arcticblast - Psychic does plenty Rhyperior. It easily 2HKOs Rhyperior at +1. Steelix is a problem, but in general it is free set up bait. Gyro Ball only has 8 PP and doesn't break your Subs or it's just going to Roar you out anyways so it's somewhat inapplicable. Signal Beam is there for pure Psychics that can otherwise outstall this set quite well (other CM Uxie or CM Mesprit, CM Zam). EVs covered in above paragraph.

PS: This isn't really a counter to Alakazam :)

Maybe some QCers could weigh in?

From what I recall, this set is quite effective. When you expect an easy set up against your standard support Uxie, being set up on can completely destroy your game plan. If you're aware of this set, though, it's kind of disappointing. I'll test it in a bit.

This set is good, and I believe the EV spread is fine as is, although someone might come up with something better.

QC Approved (1/2)

I have used a similaer set before. I used the bulkier version of Max Speed, Max HP, 4 Def. It results in greater bulk but takes more time to lay on the hurt.

This is a pretty effective set.
I'm using almost the same with the exception of Heal Bell over Substitute. it still gives you a remedy against status but it also gives Uxie some team support.

It's one of those sets that works amazing with surprise value and still works decently without it.
