First OU Team!

Ok, I've been coming to Smogon for years, but I've not put up a team 'til now. Being a 1st gen Pokemon gamer, I've played every version. I hope all this experience is displayed in my team. Please rate!

1. Aerodactyl (Rodan)- Hasty- Pressure- Focus Sash
4 HP/ 252 Atk/ 252 Spd
Taunt, Stealth Rock, Rock Slide, Earthquake

I've always loves this set. My first attempt at an OU team, back in 2007, this was the first Pokemon I built. Stealth Rock is all I want, but this guy can also disrupt or hit. I've always, ALWAYS been able to set up Stealth Rock with this guy. Hasty seems a strange nature, but considering it's a "Suicide Lead", dropping any stat other than Atk to boost Spd works for me. A good start to any battle.

2. Dragonite (Glaedr)- Mild- Inner Focus- Life Orb
112 Atk/ 196 SpA/ 200 Spd
Superpower, Draco Meteor, Flamthrower, Thunderbolt

Here's my first sweeper. Dragonite's my favorite Pokemon, and this is a strong MixNite set. Superpower to wallbreak, Draco Meteor for neutral coverage, and Flamethrower to cover counters. I use Thunderbolt as opposed to Roost because I can have Electric coverage in my sweeper set, plus this set is strong enough that it can rip through teams without the 10% health drop from Life Orb being any trouble.

3. Infernape (King Enma)- Naive- Blaze- Life Orb
252 Atk/ 64 SpA/ 192 Spd
Mach Punch, Close Combat, Grass Knot, Overheat

And here's my second sweeper. He's mostly here for Fighting coverage, but Grass Knot covers his bulky Water counters, and Overheat's hear for dual STAB. A simple and useful set.

4. Starmie (Liquid Sun)- Quiet- Natural Cure- Choice Scarf
252 SpA/ 252 Spd/ 4 SpD
Ice Beam, Thunderbolt, Surf, Grass Knot

First, yes, Quiet's not a good nature, but I'd gone through 50 Eggs, so I was desperate. Plus, Choice Scarf make up for that. This is my team's revenge killer + BoltBeamer. BoltBeam + Surf for neutral STAB + Grass Knot for heavier opponents.

5. Gliscor (Scorpio)- Jolly- Hyper Cutter- Life Orb
252 Atk/ 216 Spd/ 40 HP
Swords Dance, Roost, Earthquake, Night Slash

Here's my late-game sweeper. Hyper Cutter prevents Intimidate from ruining my sweep. Roost for healing Life Orb damage. Night Slash combines with Earthquake to be an unresisted combo, plus it cuts through Ghosts who could block my Rapid Spinner. Speaking of...

6. Blastoise (Gamera)- Bold- Torrent- Leftovers
252 HP/ 252 Def/ 4 HP
Surf, Toxic, Ice Beam, Rapid Spin

Ah, my one UU Pokemon! Forretress might be here, but I needed someone to resist my sweeper's counters (Ice and Water), as well as someone to Rapid Spin, thus preventing my offensive team from being messed up by Stealth Rock. Also, Fire is all too common an offensive type, and while I have someone to resist Electric, I didn't have one to fully resist Fire. Doesn't hurt that it can throw some status around, too.

Thanks for your time!

Hey, I had a Nite called Glaedr before, props to you ^_^

The first thing that calls me is that you're weak to opposing Starmie- it outspeeds your wole team and can OHKO it all with Electric/Ice/Water, so I highly suggest replacing Blastoise with Forretress- Starmie is already there to resist the attacks at your other sweepers, and also gives an almost necessary (though to a lesser extent than it was before) Dragon Resistance.

Oh well, good luck with your team!

As Insularity suggested, replace Blastoise with Forretress as it resists all of Dragonite and Infernapes weaknesses, except ground which it take neutral damage from, not to mention it's one weakness, fire, is resisted by both of them. I suggest this set...
Forretress @ Leftovers
Ability:Sturdy
Evs:252 HP / 112 Atk / 144 Def
Nature:Impish
~Rapid Spin
~Spikes/Toxic Spikes
~Payback
~Explosion

This way you get a spinner+a spiker that can help the team much more then Blastoise could, especially since it can Explode on threats to your team.

Since you said the part about breeding for the Starmie, I'm assuming this is Wi-Fi. Although it may be a lengthy process, you should keep breeding for a Timid Starmie, or look into RNG abusing. It seems complicated, but really it's not too bad, just watch a few videos on Youtube, I prefer the ones by Bearsfan092drums, and look on some articles here on Smogon as it will pay off in the long run if this is indeed Wi-Fi and you plan to continue battling.

Actually, this is a question that I've had for some time: can Spikes and Stealth Rock stack?

Of course. Stealth Rock digs in the enemy's fur, then Spikes cuts 'em up some.

-1 Gliscor
+1 Dark Armed Dragon :naughty:

Seriously now, I think you may be better off with a Scarfed Tyranitar in place of Gliscor. Infernape is already able to finish off the foe. >_>; Gliscor doesn't contribute much to the team. As your team is now, an enemy Starmie or Jolteon would have almost no trouble sweeping your entire team besides your own Scarfed Starmie, but your Scarfed Starmie will have a hard time switching in.

Now, if you have a Scarfed Tyranitar, you could take a Special attack with a Sandstorm-boosted Special Defense and retaliate with the suitable OHKO'ing move (Crunch/Pursuit on Starmie, Earthquake on Jolteon).

Hey,Welcome To Smogon!Actually,Starmie Can Rapid Spin So Np You Can Replace Blastoise And Gliscor As He Does Nothing For Your Team...

Use This Starmie Ev Spread:252 SpA/ 252Spe / 4 HP And Moves Are Hydro Pump/Thunderbolt/Ice Beam/Recover Now For Replacements..Actually You Have Swampert Weakness. So You Could Use Roserade to Do The Spikes And Killing Swampert :D

Use This Move Set:
410.png

Roserade @ Leftovers/Focus Sash
Timid Nature
Ability:Natural Cure
Ev's:252 SpA/252 Spe/4 Hp
Moveset:
Toxic Spikes
Spikes
Energy Ball / Leaf Storm
Hidden Power Fire Or Ice

Good Luck!

And believe me when I say I would LOVE a Tyranitar... if my team could handle Sandstorm. As it stands, can it? Honestly, I don't know. Maybe my preconception of ONLY types that are immune is wrong. Is it?

Also For Gliscor,You Can Use Vaporeon! As A Wisher And Healing Your Team As All OF YOUR Team Lacks Recovery Move Which Is Needed For This Team :)

Good Luck!

:/ That is a problem...

To help with this, change Starmie to a Life Orb version with Rapid Spin over Grass Knot (and possibly Recover over Ice Beam). You won't need it to be Scarfed if you have Tyranitar. Starmie's more destruction when it can freely choose among its diverse moves as well. ;o

Remember your opponent will be suffering its effects as well. >_>; This team desperately needs Scarfed Tyranitar's assistance anyway. If Forretress makes it, then Sandstorm won't be as bad for your team.

Thanks! Deifnitely gonna keep that in mind. But another question: if I make Starmie as a Rapid Spinner, then how do I get coverage with an Ice move, since I want it to have Recover?

;D You're welcome!

You don't have to. >_>; Personally, I hate those kinda moves 'cause they cut into offensive prowess. Just something that you could try if you feel like you need that survivability. It's worked for some people, so I thought I'd just bring it up.
