Silver Mountain in June - OU Bulky

Team Silver Mountain

Hi Smogon! I noticed that I hadn't posted a RMT for ages, so I decided to present my most successful team since Salamence was banned. The main interest of this team was to find out if people would still take precautions against Salamence when he is banned, by replicating a 'Salamence' with Dragonite. After I found out it works well with spikes from my testing, I decided to think about it logically. I started with CBNite:
149.gif

Then I added a reliable stealth rock user who could be in the lead spot:
149.gif

Then I needed a sure fire way to deal with stall to stop it screwing with my sweeping attempt and Entry Hazarding me, with this famous set:
149.gif

Now wherever theres a Gliscor to deal with stall, theres a Tyranitar to get SS going and also to Revenge kill.

Now, if there is one thing I have learnt, that is that Bulky CB users need Spikes, as they will be forcing switches and requiring OHKOs that only Ehs can make possible. Now, I spent ages searching over the interwebs for a good way to add spikes with a fast, bulky pokemon and I found one:

And finally, we need a pokemon can be a partner to Nite, who can make use of the hazards and who can use Special attacks:

It was soo strong it took the fun out of the game. Changes HAD to be made...

Thus team Silver Mountain was born

376Metagross.png

Metagross @ Lum Berry

Trait: Clear Body
EVs: 240 HP / 252 Atk / 16 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Meteor Mash
- Stealth Rock
- Explosion
- Bullet Punch

Metagross is the lead in my team. He is here to set up stealth rock whilst dealing the common leads. His importance for the team is unsurpassed in my opinion as he is needed late game to take attacks and to revenge kill Steel-weak pokemon with Bullet Punch. Lum berry lets him get 2 layers up on Sleep Leads. Meteor Mash is needed for Machamp. The opponent won't set up because most Gross run Explosion. He makes a good partner for Dragonite, and is a backup counter to Late Game Machamp, Taunted and non-Taunted Blissey and weakened pokemon.

472Gliscor.png

Gliscor (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Sand Veil
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Earthquake
- Taunt
- Roost
- Toxic

Gliscor. The bane of stall. I threw him and TTar onto this team because I don't like stall. I think everyone here knows how he is used. Taunt Blissey, Forry, Hippo, Skarm, Pikachu etc. they are now screwed. Toxic bulky waters on the switch. With me so far? Finally Earthquake to shake things up a bit and Roost to heal or maybe stall if you are daring.

2h5tgjl.png

155px-248Tyranitar.png

Tyranitar (M) @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Sand Stream
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Crunch
- Pursuit
- Stone Edge
- Earthquake

This is a common or garden Scarf Tar. It counters most psychic types by using its bulk to switch in and forcing them to guess your next move and risk losing the pokemon. It also revenges many other pokemon with his new speed and dual STABs with EQ for coverage.

2h5tgjl.png

190px-094Gengar.png

Gengar (M) @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spd
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Shadow Ball
- Focus Blast
- Thunderbolt
- Trick

Scarf Gengar is here to block rapid spin, and take down many common spinners such as Starmie, Forretres with Trick, Claydol, Blastoise etc. Also, he is here to help Revenge Kill threats like weakened Jolteon and Gyarados, and TTar in a pinch. He can even take down Infernapes that have been weakened.

2h5tgjl.png

149Dragonite.png

Dragonite (M) @ Choice Band
Trait: Inner Focus
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Outrage
- Earthquake
- Fire Punch
- ExtremeSpeed

Dragonite is the pokemon this team is built around, the center-mid. He lacks intimidate but can fill this role pretty well. This can revenge kill but I like to use it as a prediction based sweeper. He has strong physical STABs, and the set is so rare, it isn't prepared against. Dragon moves tear up anything not Steel based, and this set is evident of it. He will be causing loads of switches, racking up residual damage with Spikes, SS and SR.

2h5tgjl.png

407.png

Roserade (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 HP / 120 Def / 136 SDef
Calm Nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Spikes
- Stun Spore
- Grass Knot
- Hidden Power [Fire]

Roserade is here to lay down spikes, which are crucial for my team. She is good for this role because she can absorb toxic spikes, and hurt common rapid spinners, the only rapid spinners that mean trouble are Tentacruel, Hitmonlee, Hitmonchan, hHitmontop and Torkoal. She can lure in Scizor and HP Fire him all the way back to hell. A Stun Spore cripples fast switch-ins such as ScarfTran, DDGyara and Dragonite.

Conclusion

yeah, uh... yeah. I don't have much to say here. I was laddering for a few days but then I got haxed and bored, but I reached 1456 CRE with this team, which must be a record. I liked the fast and bulky nature of this team revolving about attack smapping and clever switching. There were a few drawbacks, such as Rotom-A being impossible to include, because it makes PO crash when I add him to the team :/. I hope you enjoyed it.

Thanks for Reading!

By all means remove Jirachi. Your team is extremely weak to Ground-type moves. Specially-based MixApe OHKO's everything on this team. Jolteon deals heavy damage to all of your team members. Scarfed Tyranitar may outspeed it, but it's not not an exact counter. Gyarados can also run rampant against this team.

To fix this, Vaporeon should take over Jirachi's place. It handles physical attacks easily and handles Infernape with Surf and Gyarados with Hidden Power Electric.

I also notice how Jolteon deals heavy damage to all of your team members. Gliscor can come in on Thunderbolt/Charge Beam, but your opponent will not likely fall for this twice. Jolteon could use Hidden Power Ice to OHKO Gliscor, as well as Dragonite and even Roserade.

This is why I suggest Swampert over Gliscor. Though Gliscor has its uses, its typing does not support this team very well. Protect allows Swampert to scout for moves like HP Grass and Explosion. Roar messes up switches.

:/ Not sure if you like 2 Bulky Waters on a team, but this is the best I can think of right now. Hope this helps. ^__^;

Hello

Since you are using Stallbreaking Gliscor I suggest max speed on him, an EV spread of 252 HP, 4 Def, 252 Spe would be the best one to use on this Gliscor set. When you're up against opposing Gliscor with the same set, the one with the quickest taunt usually wins so the more speed you have the better.

I can see that Mixape is a problem for your team as it takes out most of your team and only Tyranitar can revenge kill it. To solve this problem I suggest you use a bulky water. Vaporeon would make a good choice at it has great synergy with Tyranitar and Gliscor. I suggest an EV spread of 188 HP / 252 Def / 12 Spe / 56 SpD with a Bold nature and Leftovers as the hold item. A common but solid moveset is Surf / Wish / Protect / Roar. Since my suggestion is to replace Jirachi with this one, you still have a Wish user.

To help you a little with Jolteon as mentioned by Piccolo, you could try specially defensive Forretress instead of Roserade. Forretress can also lay down Spikes and it can spin the entry hazards of your opponent away so you will have an easier time with using Dragonite, switching him around as SR doesn't hurt him anymore. I suggest a Forretress with an EV spread of 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD and it has a Sassy nature. A moveset of Spikes / Rapid Spin / Earthquake / Gyro Ball would be ideal. Of course Leftovers is the hold item. Spikes and Rapid Spin need no explination. Earthquake will help you with against Jolteon, ... And Gyro Ball will take care of Gengar that'll block your spin and that might set up a Substitute so Tyranitar cannot switch-in out of fear for Focus Blast.

Hope this helped.

For the first sentence I completely agree with you, the team has a blatant ground weakness. Gliscor can be a decent check against Jolteon if its not carrying hidden power ice. Also, scarf Tyranitar does not outspeed Jolteon, I sure hope you were kidding.

Now to my quick rate, CM Jirachi really needs a bulky water type as a partner in order to pass off a wish to fight off Mix Ape and Heatran. Like the rater above me mentioned, Vaporeon is an excellent candidate for that job. Now you have two wish passers, which in the long run can give your team a lot more survivability. Last thing I have to mention is you MUST run max speed on Gliscor so you cant taunt and then toxic an opposing Gliscor. The 216 ev spread is really pointless and max speed is important.

Nearly half of all Jolteon carry Hidden Power Ice. :/ Gliscor has to run after it absorbs an Electric-type attack.

>_>; I forgot about that... Thanks for pointing that out. ^__^;

Hi,

If you're using Spikes, you need a spin-blocker. I would suggest a Scarf Rotom-h in place of Jirachi, which can block Rapid Spin rather reliably while serving as a good answer to Gyarados and a secondary check to LO Gengar who can kill off Tyranitar with Focus Blast from behind a Substitute and proceed to do heavy damage to your team.

Also, consider changing Earthquake on Metagross to Explosion because without Occa Berry you still have to run from Infernape and Heatran. Explosion is good on offensive teams and allows you to screw up physical walls like Hippowdon and Zapdos for your Dragonite to blast through teams.

All the best.

To bad he can't use Rotom-a on PO because the server might crash =/

Also if you are keeping CM Jirachi then you should have Toxic Spikes (could fit instead of regular Spikes) because that will give Jirachi an easier time against the likes of Blissey.

Sorry, my bad. However, spiking isn't worth it without a spin blocker because many stall and balanced teams have one member that carries Rapid Spin. Consider Scarf Gengar then, as a useful revenge killer and having a Tricker helps immensely versus things like Snorlax or CroCune who can prove problematic.

I agree with Pinky.
Scarf Gengar can really help you against various of threats. So perhaps you could try Genger instead of Dragonite (I know it's the base of your team, but having a spin-blocker will really benefit you). I suggest a simple spread of 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe. A good moveset would be Shadow Ball / Trick / Focus Blast / Thunderbolt. Thunderbolt also helps you against Gyarados if you opted to drop Jirachi. Of course Choice Scarf will be the hold item. And I would suggest a Modest nature.

EDIT: I'm also behind Pinky's suggested to add Explosion on Metagross instead of Earthquake.

Thanks guys! Jirachi for ScarfGar is a neat idea, and will be implemented right away. I feel my team needs a Bulky water. I also like the idea of switching Gliscor for a bulky water. I feel that the ScarfTar could go for a scarfer that doesn't wear down my DNite such as Flygon, who can handle Nape and Jolteon, and Gliscor could go for Tentacruel.

To handle jolteon, i take advantage of the fact that most of them wear choice specs.

EDIT: I am testing a varient with Tentacruel over Gliscor and Flygon over Tar

:/ Iit may not be best to remove Scarftar since you lose a good switch-in on foe Gengar and Starmie. Scarfgon can only switch in on Thunderbolts, meaning its likely you'll have to sacrifice something for Flygon's safety. But if you want to try Scarfgon, change your Gengar to a LO set or a Sub set because you don't want 2 weak Scarfers. Dragonite will make Gengar's sweep easier anyway. :)
