Here's a bit of an original team I made myself. I will admit that I am a sucker for gimmicks, and sometimes they work, sometimes they don't. I'm open to criticism, but at the same time, I play teams that are a lot of fun to use. It really is a blast! So here goes!
Kangaskhan (Isabella) @ Lum Berry
Role: Lead
Ability: Scrappy
EVs: 152 HP/252 Atk/104 Def
Nature: Impish (+Def/-Sp. Atk)
- Aqua Tail
- Sucker Punch
- Fake Out
- Return
This is a toned down version of another Kangaskhan I use. I have a priority move/reduced priority move fetish. On this set, the obvious fakeout is used regardless of the opposing poke (thanks to scrappy). I opted for return over rock climb this time since this particular Kanga will not be used outside of NU. Aqua Tail gives the type coverage and Sucker punch is the last ditch effort should I need more damage than return/Aqua Tail + Fake Out have to offer.
Kecleon (CharlyBrwn) @ Spell Tag
Role: Annoyer
Ability: Color Change
EVs: 4 HP/252 Atk/252 Def
Nature: Adamant (+Atk/-Sp. Atk)
- Shadow Sneak
- Skill Swap
- Recover
- Sucker Punch
Again, this is another one of my gimmicks that I am so fond of. This Kecleon has some staying power and the ability to mess up opponent strategies. The basic idea is to skill swap once it is beneficial or once Color Change is harmful to Kecleon. Then begin to super-effective and priority the opponent to death. Sucker Punch is used just in case the opposing poke is a normal type, who can then become a ghost type. If there is a poke that my team is having a problem with, I can just send in Kecleon to take away stab and even remove bonuses such as the +50% sp def in sandstorm etc...
Pikachu(Kamikaze) @ Light Ball
Role: Suicidal Sweeper
Ability: Static
EVs: 252 Atk/4 Sp. Atk/252 Spd
Nature: Lonely (+Atk/-Def)
- Thunderbolt
- Iron Tail
- Volt Tackle
- Dig
Yet another gimmick that works decently well. This Pikachu relies some on the
element of surprise, but still holds his own when people know what to expect. A maxed attack Pikachu reaches an astonishing 458 when holding a Light Ball, a terrifying thing to have to deal with. His main attack is Volt Tackle (Hence the name Kamikaze) where he deals with the pokes that are hard for the rest of the team to deal with. Iron Tail is for ground types who so often are also rock in NU. (I do use this Pikachu outside of NU) Thunderbolt is to attack from the special side with the untainted Sp. Atk stat (due to the lonely nature) just in case a poke is sent out that is incredibly physically bulky. Dig is used for the surprise as well as pseudo-phasing and type coverage, should anything want to stay in against such an attack. This attack is great for removing threats such as Nasty Plot Ninetales and other set-up sweepers who can not take a ground attack. It also has a tendency to pull out flying types who Pikachu can deal with easily.
Pidgeot (Regina) @ Leftovers
Role: Physical Wall/Stall
Ability: Keen Eye
EVs: 252 HP/4 Atk/252 Def
Nature: Adamant (+Atk/-Sp. Atk)
- Feather Dance
- Roost
- Substitute
- Return
This Pidgeot takes advantage of the higher defenses of all the "Route 1 bird pokemon." It is a lesser version of an Altaria I created, meant to take all sorts of physical abuse while chipping away at opponent HP as time goes on. The basic idea is to send it in against something that the opponent thinks can not take a Pidgeot and sub on that turn. Then Feather Dance the switch in and Roost as needed, Returning wherever the opportunity arises. It is extremely susceptible to Taunt, however.
Politoed (Taka-Taka) @ Life Orb
Role: Special Sweeper/Support/Special Wall
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 4 HP/252 Sp. Atk/252 Sp. Def
Nature: Modest (+Sp. Atk/-Atk)
- Hypnosis
- Surf
- Ice Beam
- Hyper Voice
Politoed is an amazing Special Attacker in the NU tier. This set utilizes his ability to use a wide coverage as well as inflict status whenever needed. Easy to switch in on opposing water types and attacks as well as most special attacks. He also has perfect type coverage between Surf and Hyper Voice (bar Shedinja) and has a high enough special attack stat to pull off a sweeper role.
Medicham (Vishnu) @ Choice Scarf
Role: Physical Sweeper
Ability: Pure Power
EVs: 4 HP/252 Atk/252 Spd
Nature: Adamant (+Atk/-Sp. Atk)
- Ice Punch
- Thunder Punch
- Hi Jump Kick
- Recover
My favorite poke in the game! A choiced Medicham with semi-reliable recovery. He has great type coverage and a mean stab attack. I think I may have messed up EV's a bit on my specific Medicham (Vishnu), but I made sure he had enough speed to outpace base 90's. Whatever was left afterwards was invested into Defense, but I'm not sure how much was put into it.
So this is all of my NU team. Lemme know what you think and what could be made better!
