This team's main purpose is to clear out threats and support gengar and metagross so they can sweep easily.
Smeargle (M) @ Focus Sash
Ability: Own Tempo
EVs: 4 HP/252 Atk/252 Spd
Jolly nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Spikes
- Spore
- U-turn
- Counter
---
Standard spikes lead, should at least get 1 round of spikes up, or take out the opponents lead with counter. Against faster taunt leads I'll U-turn out, scizor can finish off azelf or aerodactyl with a bullet punch. Against Infernape I'll switch to swampert, as leadapes don't normally carry grass knot.
He does the job, although I wouldn't mind possibly having a more durable lead, spikes make great support for gengar and metagross though.
Swampert (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 252 HP/4 Atk/252 SDef
Relaxed nature (+Def, -Spd)
- Stealth Rock
- Ice Beam
- Earthquake
- Roar
---
Pretty much standard. Gets stealth rock up and then can roar to weaken an entire team. The reason for the specially defensive based spread is to take less damage from fire attacks aimed at gross, gengar, or scizor, mainly heatrans fire blasts.
Rotom-h @ Light Clay
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP/60 Def/56 Spd/140 SDef
Bold nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Overheat
- Light Screen
- Reflect
- Discharge
---
Works brilliantly to actually let gengar take a hit, or let metagross take an earthquake or fire blast, also a great spinblocker. This was originally a rotom-w, but I needed a fire attack on the team to help against steels like bronzong and scizor. Again slightly more specially defensive than usual. can switch in nicely on the earthquakes directed at metagross too.
Scizor (M) @ Choice Band
Ability: Technician
EVs: 248 HP/252 Atk/8 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Bullet Punch
- U-turn
- Superpower
- Pursuit
---
What can i say? Standard CB scizor, takes out weakened pokemon who outspeed the others, and can put a dent in with u-turn aswell. I've been considering replacing him with scarf flygon, but I haven't seen a need to yet.
Gengar (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 Def/252 Spd/252 SAtk
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Shadow Ball
- Thunderbolt
- Focus Blast
- Energy Ball
---
My special sweeper.
Usually comes in later on, once the faster opponents have been dealt with. Although he can take an attack under screens and then OHKO most things back. Energy ball is there for swampert, I used to have HP fire, but swampert was troublesome.
Metagross @ Life Orb
Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 112 HP/252 Atk/12 Def/132 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Earthquake
- Meteor Mash
- Agility
- Ice Punch
---
My physical sweeper.
I originally had a SD lucario here, however I had a hard time setting up, and have found that this seems to work better due to bulk. He works wonders once agility has been used, taking out most would-be-threats no problem, I'm not sure whether to adjust the EVs to outspeed scarf flygon after an agility or to leave it as it is so that if I haven't used agility yet, I can take an earthquake and hit back with ice punch.
My biggest problems tend to be set-up sweepers and thunder wave users once swampert has been taken out. Crocune can run through my entire team once swampert's gone. I wouldn't mind having a taunt user to stop this, but I don't know what I can change. Also I have quite a bit of trouble with the occasional hail team, and anything specially defensive that metagross can't handle.
Any suggestions are welcome, I seem to be be winning about 60% of the time with this team so I know it could do with improvement.
P.S. I'm not sure how to insert sprites, so if anyone could let me know, then I will!
