Akira's OU Team- Suggestions? Fixes?

Hi guys! I'm kind of new here... and I happened to see this thread, so I decided, why not? I haven't been competitive battling for an extremely long time, but I have tested out my team many times against different opponents (mostly on Shoddy Battle). About half of the time I win... and half I lose. So I was wonderng if there is something really wrong with my team that I'm not seeing. Or if it's just not balanced. So I would like to ask you guys if you see any big problems, or ways to improve it...

I also want to ake sure of that before I start raising on my actual game because it's going to take a long time lol.

So it starts with...

images

Weavile @ Focus Sash
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 4 Hp, 252 Att, 252 Speed
Nature: Jolly
-Ice Shard
-Night Slash
-Brick Break
-Fake Out

I actually added the Weavile to my team last, after another combination didn't work... I needed a pretty good leading Pokemon, and since Weavile's fast and does good damage, I decided on it. I wa also having troble with Suicide Leads like Azelf, and Weavile seemed like it could take care of them.

Dragonite @ (no item for now...)
Ability: Inner Focus
EVs: 4 Att, 252 Speed, 252 Sp. Att
Nature: Naive
-Draco Meteor
-SuperPower
-Thunderbolt
-Flamethrower

Dragonite has a good range of attacks and is pretty powerful, and it can take care of a lot of Pokemon with the different types of attacks it has. It also resists quite a few types, so I decided to add it.

Espeon @ Leftovers
Ability: Synchronize
EVs: 252 Speed, 252 Sp. Att, 4 Sp. Def.
Nature: Timid
-Calm Mind
-Psychic
-Hidden Power (Fighting)
-Grass Knot

Espeon has high Special attack and Speed, so it is kind of a Special Sweeper. It can KO types like poison and fighting easily which I had trouble with and can still do a lot of damage even without the super effectiveness. It also has Grass Knot for if I run into a tough Ground or Water type that my other pokes can't take.

images

Flygon @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 Att, 252 Speed, 4 Sp. Att
Nature: Jolly
-Earthquake
-Dragon Claw
-Roost
-Fire Blast

Flygon also has good type coverage, and really helps with Electric types, as well as ice, (which does not kill Flygon as easily as Dragonite) steel and other dragons. It also has an immunity to ground type moves which are common, so it can easily switch into them, and has a recovery move too. And it's immune to a lot of passive damage.

images

Lucario @ Expert Belt
Ability: Inner Focus
EVs: 252 Att, 4 Def, 252 Speed
Nature: Adamant
-Swords Dance
-Close Combat
-Crunch
-Stone Edge

Lucario is more of my Physical Sweeper. It has high attack and a nice type combination as well as movepool. It can kill Ghost, Psychic and Dark Types, along with a lot of others with super effective attacks.

Z

Blissey @ Leftovers
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 HP, 252 Def, 4 Speed
Nature: Bold
-Ice Beam
-Seismic Toss
-Aromatherapy
-Softboiled

Blissey is a wall. It can take attacks (as long as they're not physical fighting typed ones) and also heal itself, creating a stall. It also can heal status problems of my team, which is nice when they are poisoned, put to sleep, frozen, etc.

So that's my team, are there any big flaws?

I did identify some threats, such as water/ice pokemon. The only attack I have good against that is Thunderbolt, which is on a Dragon Type that can be defeated with the ice attack. For the same reaon Gyrados could also be a threat. Also Electric typed Pokemon might cause a problem, especially if they are immune to Earthquake like Zapdos and Rotom. There might also be other big ones that I didn't find, which is why I'm posting this.

So... please can I have opinions/suggestions/tips, anything to help improve it so it can be a good competitive battling team! :)

And if the team is super bad, so that you can't help it... then ): but could you tell me that so I can rebuild or something?

Well wish Bliss would be better for your team since none of your other Pokemon, bar Flygon have recovery, Life Orb>Expert Belt on Lucario, it gets some kills that it can't with Expert Belt, plus has more overall power and Extreme Speed over stone Edge for Priority and kills on things like Starmie and Flygon. Dragonite needs Life Orb aswell and Roost or Extreme Speed are options over Flamethrowe or Thunderbolt, you should also use the EV spread listed on site for, i think, the wall-breaker set. I'd replace Espeon with a Starmie maybe or a second steel type as an Outrage resist, Luc is to frail that can also set up Rocks, such as Bronzong, you also might want to Scarf Flygon to give your team a revnge killer

Wish Bliss? that's a good idea :) Although it can't really be used in the game because its really hard to obtain... :/

It seems like a lot of pokemon are good with Life Orb... but with the 10% damage done stacking up with other damages... :/ I had it on a lot of Pokemon before but they kept dyig really easily so idk.

Edit: Also in th game there's only one Life Orb... Does it go better on Lucario or Dragonite?

The Extreme Speed is a good idea too :D

Is Starmie a good Pokemon? :/ It doesn't seem that good for battling....

Scarf Flygon? That works ^^

Thanks for the suggestions! 8D

Is Starmie a good Pokemon? No; It's an excellent Pokemon. Its Speed and Special Attack are amazing, and not to mention the outstanding offensive movepool. Life Orb will further boost it's damage output. LO Starmie rips through the standard Fire/Water/Grass core that everybody is running nowadays. This is the set to replace your current Espeon:

Starmie @ Life Orb
Timid
252 SAtk, 252 Spe, 4 HP
-Hydro Pump
-Ice Beam
-Thunderbolt
-Rapid Spin/Recover

I would personally use Rapid Spin over Recover for the sheer fact that you use a Dragonite on your team, and Stealth Rock damage really adds up.

Secondly, I would like to consider a change for your Dragonite. You chose to use Dragonite to cover a variety of Pokemon, right? Well this change will destroy Stall, and most offensive teams running Jolteon, Infernape, Celebi, and Starmie.

Dragonite @ Life Orb
Rash
252 SAtk, 60 Spe, 196 Atk
- Draco Meteor
- Fire Blast
- Extremespeed
- SuperPower

The EV's for this guy are fairly simple. Max Special Attack to rip holes through Defensive teams with Draco Meteor, 60 Speed to outrun 16 Speed Suicune, which is rare nowadays, but still is a decent enough of a threat, and the rest of the EV's were dumped into Attack to give Dragonite's checking ability with Extremespeed a bit more of a punch. SuperPower will OHKO Blissey even without Stealth Rock up, if I remember correctly.

Now, I suggest you give Lucario Life Orb. You shouldn't be taking any damage on Lucario until you're ready to sweep anyway, and by then, it's too late for your opponent to hurt Lucario because hopefully you've changed Dragonite's set to mine and added Starmie. Those two Pokemon really help Lucario finish off defensive oriented Pokemon like Celebi and Suicune, who usually outruns Adamant Lucario.

Finally, I really don't like Blissey on this team at all. She really serves no purpose here, especially on an offensive team like this. She may take hits for you, but if you play your cards right, you'll be dishing out more damage than they will to you. You look very Kingdra and Gyarados weak, so I suggest a simple fix for it. Try Scarf Rotom-W.

Rotom-W @ Choice Scarf
Timid
252 SAtk, 252 Spe, 4 HP
-Thunderbolt
-Shadow Ball
-Hydro Pump
-Trick

Recap:
  • Life Orb > Expert Belt
  • Change Dragonite's Set
  • LO Starmie > Espeon
  • Rotom-W > Blissey

Oh... haha okay then. Starmie does seem pretty good :)

Those Pokemon seem to really work :D Thank you!! Cause even if I change Dragonite's moves, Starmie still has Thunderbolt...

Although, I won't have much good offense against Fighting and Poison types then... :/

If you really do feel so uneasy about the almost non-existent Poison-types in OU, and the many Fighting-types (which by the way, I don't really see them bothering you too much, other than like Lead Machamp) then you could always run Psychic over Rapid Spin or Recover. Also, with the addition of Rotom-W, you can freely switch in on the predicted Fighting-type move, and hopefully cripple them with Trick, or get the KO if it's in KO range.
