Ditto

I think Ditto won't get Uber because of Eccentric. It will just... be usable in any tier

If it really is usable in all tier, it will be on the top of every tier of the metagame. I think that it will make a more quick metagame (perhaps without many boosting ups, and more ChoiceItem, but it is only a theory), IMO it is able to revenge kill, but it lacks HP and if you try to sweep with it you will be revenge killed easily too.

Yeah.

If you really want to test it, try having Ditto get hit by an attack before transforming, and then try letting him get hit by the same move after transforming to see if his defense increased.

What Pokemon did you fight?

Edit: *headbang* I somehow mistook you for the noob, sorry X|

You see the reason why it looked like it copied his stats in his vid is because they're around the same level

I used a lvl 100 ditto vs a lvl 5 wild pokemon and 1hit it.
did the same vs a lvl 16 fire ape it died in 1 hit with a fire move

Personally (and I might be using a little too much theorymon here) I'd say that Ditto will be getting quite a lot of use at the bottom of the ladder; Eccentric, coupled with a scarf, is simply too good at revenge killing to get no use at all.

That said, given that Ditto retains that horrifying base 48 HP, I don't think that he's going to be particularly viable with all the priority moves that OU players flaunt. It's a shame, really, because I really like Ditto, but I think that Eccentric has given him just a little less than he needs to be a success.

Keep in mind that Ditto always runs max HP, which gives him virtually the same HP as a Pokemon with base 80 HP and no investment. Plenty of sweepers have less.

what if ditto comes in on a Gyarados. Does it copy intimidate? Sorry if this has been discussed. Just what to know.

Yes it does copy Intimidate. Ditto will Transform first, then Intimidate will activate, just as it would on a Pokemon with Intimidate when it is sent in. So yes, it is similar to Trace, which will bounce Intimidate right back.

This is demonstrated here against Aloe, who has an Intimidate user.

Well Scarf ditto will be a scary revenge killer, it also might just cause A LOT of switches, I mean you know your pokemons' moves right XD

Wow Ditto just got a better use then having sex all day in the daycare awesome!Seriusly this is very promising...I mean most sweepers hit themselves quite hard...Like Lucario hits itself with CC,Heatran with Earth Power,Suicune with HP elec,Gengar with Shadow ball,Dragons with Dragon,Gyarados with Stone edge,Blaiziken takes a fuckton from Hi jump kick and the list goes on.So this could be quite effective...I really dont see this as another Electivire and will probably get a lot of use...I mean cmon this is cool stuff guyz.

Why can't you breed ditto? I thought ditto + ditto makes ditto eggs?

Apprently it can have sex with all the pokemon in the game but not itself....Weird yes?

While Choice Scarf Ditto will make a very nice revenge killer, I don't seeing it being broken in any way. Just like any other scarfer, it provides many opportunities for other pokemon to set up. Also, it is still going to have to deal with the obvious priority moves that will be present throughout the metagame.

That being said, I do think that it will be used a lot in OU. It is one of the non 4th gen ubers that can stop Doryuzuu in its track, and can revenge kill basically anything in the game.

"Transforms into the target, copying its stats (except HP), moves (at 5 PP each), type, weight, and ability. The stats are copied exactly, without regard to EVs, IVs, and level. IVs of the target are copied for purposes of Hidden Power, as well. Transform copies the target's species, which means that DeapSeaScale, DeepSeaTooth, Light Ball, Metal Powder, Quick Powder, Soul Dew, and Thick Club activate only if the target is the correct species. Level is not copied, so a low level Pokemon does less damage than a high level Pokemon when using the same move (because the attacker's level is part of the damage formula)." - Smogon (D/P and below)

I think it copies the stats of the pokemon then scales the stats to what they'd be like at ditto's level.

I just wanna say:

15 full pages honestly discussing how Ditto could work in high-level play, discussing him as a serious threat.

This is the best Generation ever.

I wouldn't go as far as saying its the best generation ever, but it would be fair to say its the best generation for offensive styles of play.

Its going to be interesting to see Ditto fit into the metagame as a sweeper

Yeah Enlong someone else said exactly that already .__.

I agree that like any other scarfer, Ditto presents opponents with an opportunity to set-up. But with just one Scarf Ditto, you basically have most of the set-up sweepers checked. I mean Jirachi has issues with AgiliGross and Scizor can't handle DD Kingdra etc etc but Ditto is extremely versatile and thus extremely valuable because it can handle all of them all by itself. Besides that, if you let your opponent get 5 DDs with Ononokuso and your Ditto comes in it's going to be quite funny turning the tables around. Yeah that's an exaggerated account and not a viable strategy given priority users and weather but I'm just highlighting the fact that it can sweep on its own since it doesn't just gain Spe boosts but any relevant Atk and SpA boosts as well which definitely makes it harder for opponents to set-up against it or anything. Not to mention why set-up when there's a Ditto waiting to kill you x_x

I love unique Pokemon like Ditto, so I jump at the chance to use this new Eccentric Ditto myself!

If a Trace Pokemon copied this ability, what would happen? Nothing?
