3v3 Pokemon Tournament Team

Hey Smogon! Nick93 Here, I have been informed of a local tournament that will be happening where I live :) So excited!! It is a 3 vs 3 Tournament with the standard battle rules and UBERS are banned.

First round starts in 2 weeks so I am looking for some feedback on this team :)

I have been testing this team on PO unfortunately I couldn't find a place where I could test 3v3 teams and well I just took the opportunity to "practice" in PO. Believe it or not this team didn't go on a solid loose streak XD

I actually managed to get a bunch of wins in the bag :D. After testing this team I have managed to change it slightly and make it better… I am now asking everybody (and hopefully there are a few of you that are familiar with 3v3 battling to help me) to help rate this team for the tournament :)

The 3v3 Team:

Breloom @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Effect Spore
EV's: 252 Attack / 252 Speed / 6 HP
Jolly Nature (+Speed ; - Sp.Attack)
Moves:
Spore
Superpower
Seed Bomb
Stone Edge

Why this lead?
Well I have led with many other Pokémon to try and counter the oh so popular sleep leads I originally had a Honchkrow however he just wasn't working well with the rest of the team. I then looked at a sleep lead for my own and tested out Roserade, Crobat and Breloom.

I faired quite well with the crobat but again wasn't working well with the rest of my Team. I then switched to a SporePuncher Breloom and he was working well with the team but was to slow to do well against sleep leads and other leads so I looked up if there was a Choice Scarf set and there was!

So after testing this CS Breloom it has proven to work extremely well with the rest of my team! He also outspeeds any pokemon that is not Base 130 Speed (maybe a bit less because I only have a 30 Speed IV ditto so….) Anyway the only sleep lead troubles me is is Crobat and he is the reason I have come for here and try find out how to counter him. (I usually just sub to Empo)

Set analysis:
Spore is what I mainly use straight of the bat! I then usually switch to empoleon who will get the Sub up and Agility etc. Superpower, Seed Bomb and Stone Edge allow me to revenge kill some 'mons. The revenge kill on bulky waters helps a lot as they put a stop to Empoleon. The ev's are neccesary for max attack and speed to allow Breloom to revenge Kill.

I chose to use effect spore over Poison heal becuase of priority moves (LOL I know that this isn't what one should rely on but hopefully I can get hax)

Empoleon @ Petaya Berry
Ability: Torrent
EV's: 12 HP / 252 SP.Attack / 244 Speed
Modest Nature (+ Sp.Attack ; - Attack)
Moves;
Substitute
Agility
Surf
Ice Beam

This thing is Beast! I am really feeling confident with him in my arsenal! He is the Set up and sweep pokemon for this match.Empoleon has many opportunities to set up thanks to his resisitances and the Fact that Breloom and Dragonite lure in moves in which he can switch and is usually able to set up a sub and agility behind it. Another way in which my Empoleon can set up is from the opponent being spored by my Breloom I can then switch to Empoleon who can set up the sub up and work from there

if I get Agility and Sub up it is 'effectively' good match however Bulky Waters, Kingdra Starmie and others who resist water + ice combination are a pain and depending wether or not Empoleon got his Petaya boost I will either switch to my 'Revenge Killer' or use Empoleon as death Fodder and hopefully squeeze a crit in. I manage bulky waters with my Scarfed Breloom by going for the quik KO or 2HKO with seed bomb.

Dragonite @ Leftovers
Ability: Inner Focus
EV's: 252 HP / 52 ATK / 204 Speed
Adamant Nature (+Attack ; - Sp.Attack)
Moves;
Dragon Dance
Dragon Claw
Earthquake
Roost

I usually managed to squeeze in 1 or 2 ddances and get a short sweep with him - this is the standard DDance set so yeah...

Dragonite is my bulky sweeper and he completes my 3v3 by offering an extra lure for empoleon to switch into and also to cover empo's weaknesses. I think that this team is the best 3v3 team that I have come across (maybe its cause I built it XD) Well lets hope so…. I also feel that this team is also one of the best teams that covers many weaknessess (which is hard in 3v3 but I hope I hit the nail on the head) it offers my two sweepers many opportunities to switch in and set up a sub or snatch a quick ddance :)

Ofcourse I have no experience in 3v3 tournaments so I might be heading the wrong way :( with this but I have done a bit of research into 3v3 teams and I think I have the perfect structure of covering weaknesses and set up opportunities ALL FEEDBACK WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED

Thanks Nick93

Potentially replace roost with Extremespeed on your Dragonite. If someone was confused enough to use Weavile he could cause your team substantial damage. Mamoswine can do the same. Both a handled completely by Mach Punch but I wouldn't have a clue how to implement it.. Good luck..

Thanks for the advice I will be testing that out on PO :) I don't suppose you know where I can test out 3v3 battles on a simulator?

Eeerm, I think you can simulate it with VGC rules in Pokelab. (shoddy 2) But I wouldn't take my word for it.. Ask about on Stark and someone may be able to give you better advice regarding testing.

The reason I say ES on Dragonite is that Ice Punch and a semi powerful fighting move (low kick or super power) is wrecking your team. You can just about handle Mamoswine but in the unlikely event of a Weavile you're in trouble.

I can point out flaws but I can't fix them as I'm not familiar with the battle format.

Agility Lucario is also a problem, any thing with an Ice move and something to hit Empoleon is your real issue.
