So, here I go, my first RMT. If any of you have been on CaP in the past few months, then you’ve probably seen me. If you haven’t been on CaP, then shame on you, it’s a great place :p
I originally build this team in back at the beginning of the year to complete my set of NU weather teams. Now, 4 months later, I have tweaked, battled, and tested nearly everything I can think of with this team. After being on CaP’s NU Leaderboard top 10 since January, and coming in 2nd in the “It’s a NU World” Tournament, I feel that my team deserves a RMT.
Teambuilding process:

Obligatory Snover Lead (this is a hail team after all)

Added Articuno. I just used the Sub/Roost set from Smogon at this point

Here, I thought “what the heck, it IS a hail team”. *cue Walrein.

I needed someone to spin rocks away for articuno, and so Sandslash joined the team.

I had used a Sand/King defensive core on my SandStorm team, and thought it would fit well here too. Enter Slowking.

Right here I was going “Oh crap, I’m fighting weak”, so I wanted a fighting resist. I also wanted a Toxic Spiker on my team, but sadly Nidoqueen had just left the tier. So, I decided to use a personal Fav Pokemon of mine, Venomoth.
I was getting beaten down by Electric types, so I did trials of both Roselia and Camerupt instead of Venomoth. This…didn’t work out well. So Venomoth stayed, and so far I’m happy.
In Depth:

Dennis (M) @ Focus Sash
Ability: Snow Warning
EVs: 252 Atk/12 Spd/244 SAtk
IV’s: 26 SDef
Naughty nature (+Atk, -SDef)
- Ice Shard
- Protect
- Blizzard
- Toxic/Mirror Coat
Up first is my suicide lead, Dennis.
Now, you may be asking “why naughty and 26 SDef IV’s?” well, there’s a story behind that. In the semi finals of the NU tournament, I was almost swept by Joel’s Porygon2. He switched in p2 against Snover, and due to Snover’s having higher SpDef than Def, Picked up a Download boost. Now, Snover has 136-Def/135-SDef, preventing that situation from happening again.
The ev’s are rather straight forward. Max attack and next to max Special attack to pack as much of a punch as possible. The 12 ev’s in speed are to beat 0 Speed Regigigas.
Ice shard is amazing, period. I can’t count the times that Snover’s come in lategame and revenge killed someone for me.
Protect is for scouting, and does a superb job of helping my teams goal of toxic stalling the opponent.
Blizzard is for Special STAB. It grabs more KO’s than you would think, but I sometimes wish I had something that would hit all the freaking fire types in NU super effective.
I used to run Mirror coat “4 teh lulz”. And while it was effective, it was very situational. Now I run Toxic, as it lets me give the frequent Slowking switch-in (and other switch-ins) a nasty parting gift.

Chuck (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Sand Veil
EVs: 252 HP/252 Def/4 Spd
Bold nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Rapid Spin
- Toxic
Spinner, go!
Chuck is a crucial member of my team, but usually the first to fall.
Standard Smogon set. Stealth rock to give my team entry hazards, Earthquake for STAB, Rapid spin to get rid of SR for Articuno, and Toxic to give any Slowking I come across a nasty parting gift.
I’ve been wondering if I should switch toxic for Night Slash. I’ve been trying it on another team and it really helps against Haunter’s that like to switch in on me and get up a free sub.

Ozwald (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Own Tempo
EVs: 212 HP/44 SAtk/252 SDef
Calm nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Thunder Wave
- Slack Off
- Surf
- Toxic
Ozwald, aka my Special wall.
I run dual status King. T-wave to nail any Skuntank switch-ins, Toxic for opposing Slowkings and other bulky Pokemon, While Surf is for STAB, and Slack Off is for recovery.
I’ve been meaning to try out some other EV’s/Sets with him, mainly with Iron defence or other boosting sets, but haven’t gotten around to it. So, you guys can suggest some :D

Jessica (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Tinted Lens
EVs: 176 Def/252 Spd/80 SAtk
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Toxic Spikes
- Bug Buzz
- Roost
- Sleep Powder
Ahh, my Bulky moth set. I generally start out by Bug Buzzing put a dent in, what is more often than not a fire type, switch-in. Also, for some reason Jessica likes to lure Skuntanks in for the kill. This is wonderful, as I can then set up TS without worrying about them being absorbed by future switch-ins of the omnipresent Skunk.
Jessica tends to be a pivot point in my team. If I can keep her alive till late game, she will win me matches. But, I play a bit too aggressive with her sometimes, so I’m wondering if I should change the EV’s. Possibly even a choice scarf set if you suggest it *wink wink nudge nudge*

Bertha (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Ice Body
EVs: 220 HP/200 Def/48 Spd/40 SDef
Bold nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Protect
- Substitute
- Surf
- Super Fang
Bertha, The team member I’m most unsure of at this point
I’ve been running into a lot of LO-Zards in NU, and for some reason I always seem to have Bertha on the field when they’re out. The 40 SDef EV’s allow me to take under 75% damage from LO FireBlast and sub, given I haven’t taken any prior damage.
I used to run Ice Beam over Super Fang, but that was back when Jumpluff was MUCH more popular, and I struggled against her. Liam kindly forced me to switch to Super Fang. While I like SF’s ability to just up and half my opponent’s hp, It misses at all the wrong times, and I’m not sure if I like it enough to keep it.

Ariel @ Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 112 HP/216 Spd/180 SDef
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Roost
- Substitute
- Ice Beam
- Toxic
And here we go, the heart of the team.
Roost and Sub with Pressure combine to form an epic stalling force. Meanwhile Ice Beam provides STAB and Toxic lets me put on passive damage while I’m Sub/Roosting my heart out.
The move set may be standard Sub/Roost, BUT the Ev’s are my custom NU spread.
216 Speed to out-speed plus natured Max base 80’s, while 112 HP and 180 SDef allow me to take 21.8% - 26.1% from special wall Slowking(44 SAtt Ev’s), letting me set up a Sub most of the time (100% of the time from 0 SAtt Slowking). I used to run 252 Speed Ev’s just for that extra boost, but while I like the extra bulk, I miss the ability to out-speed or tie with other base 85’s. I’d like to hear some feedback on whether or not I should run more speed, please?
Major Threats and Annoyances:
- Any Electric Type in NU. Generally I can stall out and kill Flash Cannon-less Magneton but Manectric gives me trouble. Eh, scratch that, Manectric RAPES me. I’ve tried switching out some members, but nothing seems to work well.
- Opposing weather teams, which is really just ME, identifying what weather they're running and keeping Snover alive.
Closing Comments:
So, there you have it, Team TRE. A Stall team centered around Hail, Toxic, and Articuno. It was just thrown together one day in January, and probably my most successful team ever.
Feel free to suggest things for me to try out. :D
Shout out to LordLiam and VoR, both of whom have helped me in refining this team, even if they don’t realize it. oh, and for Mind :p mindismybff
