Last Rites (RETIRED Peaked #2)

Last Rites (RETIRED Peaked #2)

This is a team that I made a LONG time ago. It is retired now but I always wanted to submit a RMT for it mostly because I still use it against my friends in real life that have no clue what smogon is. This team peaked #2 on smogon, #4 on PO, and #1 on a few servers including PokeBattle Center. I was a grand total of two points behind the person in first place on the smogon server until I lost to someone that gave me a 38 point deficit. Let us say the last rites to this team…

Let It Reign (Politoed) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Drizzle
Nature: Timid
EVs: 252 SpA / 252 Spe / 4 HP
-Hydro Pump
-Surf
-Hidden Power [Electric]
-Ice Beam

Overview

After the use of this team Politoed became my favorite weather inducer. At the beginning I just used him to revenge kill and bring the rain but after a long time of use I noticed he is a HUGE asset to this team. A STAB hydro pump or Surf with drizzle is incredibly powerful. I also used him to clean up some dragons as he still outspeeds every dragon unless they have some scarf or two DDs (still outspeeds dragonite after +1). I thought of using hypnosis on him but this set is like a mini kingdra. Who wouldn’t want another kingdra on their team? HP Electric is for other waters like gyrados. Hydro Pump is my go to move but surf is for accuracy against things that can KO no matter. Focus Blast was in for Surf but I noticed its only use was for TTar and it still couldn't OHKO most sets in Sand. If it was in the rain, hydro pump would still KO it.

BreDOOM (Breloom) @ Leftovers
Ability: Technician
Nature: Jolly
EVs: 120 HP / 252 Att / 136 Spe
-Substitute
-Mach Punch
-Bullet Seed
-Spore

Overview

Breloom is the only reason why I competed in DW. I loved technician too much to give it up for the Poison Heal set. Breloom isn’t here to sweep through teams (although it has) but just to get rid of a few counters that are weak to Fighting/Grass. Ferrothorn can be a huge pain if toxicroak and breloom are down so this set is here to combat ferrothorn. I switch on ferrothorn just hoping that they leech seed. A lot of people switch to a pokemon they want to absorb the spore so instead I use substitute. Now the opponent is in a HUGE hole because breloom can 2HKO pretty much anything- plus I still have a spore at my disposal. This sounds like a PH breloom though, so why not just use that? Well the beauty of techniloom is that it can be used right out of the box with decent speed and great attacks- not a focus punch. I originally had SD over sub but I like sub WAY more. It is also a good excadrill and ttar counter. Leftovers and 120 HP is to make it a little bit bulkier which breloom needs.

Gone (Porygon2) @ Eviolite
Ability: Trace
Nature: Bold
EVs: 244 HP / 104 Def / 160 SpD
-Thunder
-Ice Beam
-Toxic
-Recover

Overview

This spot was originally held by Genesect but I realized it just wasn’t as bulky as I wanted it to be. So I switched it with Porygon2 (still wanting a good nickname). With the Eviolite it reaches 399 Def and SpD and 372 HP…very bulky. Thunder has perfect accuracy in the Rain and Ice beam is mostly for dragons. Toxic is for toxic stalling and recover to get some needed HP back. Trace is an amazing ability for this pokemon. It makes SO many pokemon useless such as Zapdos. Toxic and fighting types are pretty much the only thing it fears. Porygon is my main counter against a plethora of things which is why I HATE for this thing to go down. If it does, I have a very hard time beating the opponent.

gliscor.png

Batman (Gliscor) @ Toxic Orb
Ability: Poison Heal
Nature: Impish
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
-Fling
-Acrobatics
-Earthquake
-Protect

Overview

Forget SkarmBliss. Forget FerroCent. Forget LatoThorn. Let me indroduce you to GlisGon. Porygon2 and Gliscor have perfect synergy. Porygon fears pretty much just toxic and fighting, gliscor fears none of that. Gliscor acts as my status absorber and fighting counter in this metagame where fighting types are HUGE. Pretty much every fighting type is useless against him. It also counters excadrill- another huge player. Garchomp can be beat by this too. It servers mostly as a physical wall but can also toxic stall with porygon. It even has synergy with Toxicroak because Toxicroak fears ground moves and gliscor fears water moves. I guess the only complaint I have is that he can only intoxicate one pokemon.

kingdra.png

Ultdra (Kingdra) @ Choice Specs
Ability: Swift Swim
Nature: Modest
EVs: 252 SpA / 252 Spe / 4 HP
-Hydro Pump
-Surf
-Draco Meteor
-Dragon Pulse

Overview

Here it is- the only reason why this team is now retired. Kingdra is really good in the rain and I don’t blame smogon for banning him. But just for the sake of the RMT I will act as if he is not banned. This moveset does seem limited but it is here for a good reason. Basically, when I wanted a heavy hitting move I use Hydro Pump or Draco Meteor. Dragon Pulse is to finish off dragons and Surf is still incredibly powerful and used for accuracy. I originally had HP Fighting over Dragon Pulse for Ferrothorn but I lost kingdra a few times because draco meteor missed to dragons. Ferrothorn wouldn’t like switching into SpecsDra anyways and I had other pokemon to counter Ferrothorn.

Toxicroak-3.bmp

ToxiBROKE (Toxicroak) @ Leftovers
Ability: Dry Skin
Nature: Careful
EVs: 244 HP / 8 Att / 4 Def / 252 SpD
-Bulk Up
-Substitute
-Drain Punch
-Payback

Overview

o.0 When you first looked at this team I bet you didn’t expect me to say this: toxicroak IS the MVP of this team (did you think it was kingdra?). No offense smogon but the only reason why I disagree on the SwSw + Drizzle ban is because I think there are far greater threats running around in the metagame- including this guy. I have swept WAY more teams with this thing than kindgra EVER has. It definitely has more net kills as well. This was originally a Life Orb + SD set which had great success but as soon as I saw the set casey90 recommended in the “Creative and Good movesets” thread I knew I had to try it. I do not regret switching them at all. This also has great synergy with the GlisGon combo and takes some weight off of their shoulders. Basically I come on an opponent which poses little threat and set up. With this set, it can come on special attackers and set up. That makes this set much more of a threat.

Final Thoughts

The only threats I noticed with this team is sandstorm teams. But more specifically- Reuniclus, Latios, and the three genies. That’s really about it. Please rate! I am also looking for some good nicknames and a replacement for kingdra.

I'm not really sure how you want us to rate this since it's obviously not an OU team if it has Drizzle and Swift Swim. Do you want us to rate this as an Ubers team or what?

Also, name your P2 Macintosh. Because it's pink, which is a shade of red, like apples are.

Keldeo, in my opinion, is a wonderful replacement for Kingdra. With Fighting-type STAB to hammer Ferrothorn with, a Hydro Pump that makes Kingdra's look like Water Gun, and that wonderful base 108 Speed and access to Calm Mind makes it the best non SwSw replacement.

Keldeo @ Leftovers/Life Orb
Ability: Justified
Nature: Timid
252 SAtk / 252 Spd / 4 HP
- Calm Mind
- Hydro Pump/Surf
- Secret Sword
- Hidden Power [Ice]

Unfortunately, it has to rely on HP Ice, but it still can OHKO ScarfChomp with Lefties some of the time at full HP, while living through the Outrage at 100%.

Nah rate it is a regular team because it once was and I still use it against my friends.

@Hawkstar that's not a bad idea. Thanks a lot!

well you can use it as your friends but you asked us on smogon to rate your team that therefore means you have to abide by SMOGONS rules whether you like it or not

You act like I'm the first person to submit a retired rmt. So, just like other retired retired RMTs, offer advice on how to revive it.

I am sorry if i sounded rude i really do not intend to. As for me sounding like you are the only person with a retired team you are right i do act like you are the only person. I act like it because of this reason. You are the only person who has a retired team with an ACTIVE post on smogon.

Rain teams! I love them. I've got one currently in the RMT forum too. If you want, feel free to check mine out (rate if you wan too) since it doesn't use Swift Swim. Anyways, here's my rate:

Since you've got Breloom for revenge killing, I don't think you need a scarfed politoed. I'm not sure if Breloom does 2HKO everything, so I run SD over Sub (to OHKO everything ^.^). However, I guess you should keep it so you do some major damage in a combination of Bullet Seed + Mach Punch behind a sub. I also can't really agree with you on outspeeding +1 dragons since in my experience most run +speed natures and would easily outspeed you. However, if you catch them on the switch DDing, you have Kingdra to rape them. You could try a specs set - more power and the same effect.

I remember using Gliscor, he's awesome I agree. I don't think you need Protect/Fling. Unless you always have something to toxic, after you throw the orb, that move is pretty much useless. Instead, you can try Taunt, Ice Fang, or Swords Dance in place of those moves. Since you've a shitload of bulky you don't have to worry about Politoed killing dragons, Gliscor can do the same with Ice Fang.

Toxicroak! I love him and agree, he's the most underrated threat ever. You can add that he sets up on Ferrothorn and walls the standard bulk up Conkeldurr to your knowledge. Instead of Payback, I recommend Sucker Punch . If I remember right, it allows you to OHKO all psychics (solves Latios) who try to break your sub with the exception of Latias and Renuculius. That way, you can keep your sub and continue to wreck havoc. It also allows you to play mind games and potentially boost your stats more.

To solve your Reuniclus problem, I say you should switch Specs Kingdra with Specs/Scarf Rotom-W. Same effect, but a bit slower and a different coverage through Electric/Water. If Reuniclus comes in, just trick your choiced item to stop them.
Don't worry too much about SS teams. As long as you have Breloom, you can potentially check all of the sandstorm pokes (save the genie Landorus).

I can't say much about Kingdra and P2, as I've never used them. If the sets work out for you, keep them. Congrats on #2, and hope you try rain in the future!

Thank you for actually rating and commenting haha and great advice.

As for breloom running SD, I used to run that but I found that it was hard to get an SD off and use it efficiently early in the game. Brelooms main goal is to get rid of ferrothorn and jellicent. Sure it can do it with out sub but most people switch into something such as chandelure or another common breloom threat. This set can actually beat chandelure, as well as many other breloom counters, and can spore and then use bullet seed.

I will try a specs set on politoad. By outspeed +1 dragons I just meant dragonite. Hydreigon mostly runs choice specs which poli can beat. Garchomp, if not running CS, can be beat by scarf toad as well. But now that I think about it, specs toad might be better. Thanks.

I will also try that gliscor set.

I had sucker punch on toxicroak before payback but I didn't like it as much because he was basically useless on jellicent, reuniclus, sometimes zapdos as well as a few other pokemon that are escaping my mind right now. Also, toxicroak stays in a lot and I've had times where I run out of PP on sucker punch and he became useless afterwards.

I will also try Specs/scarf Rotom-W. Yeah pretty much ladorus is the only reason why I dislike SS teams.

So in progress:
-SpecsToad
-New Gliscor set
-Keldeo over Kingdra
-Specs or scarf Rotom-W over Kingdra
-Macintosh as Porygon2's nickname (lol)

I'm not sure if you missed this part or not. I'd rather go Specs/Scarf Rotom over Keldeo since he's not legal yet. Thanks for the positive feedback too, good luck!
