Cinccino

i'm kinda disappointed that this thing doesn't learn Arm Thrust, because then you'd have a viable Fighting move to use with Skill Link. then again, i guess i see the lack of logic in giving such a short-armed creature a move associated with extending your arm outward...
Cinncino would be (almost) godly if it got Arm Thrust...

A move against Tyranitar would be a blessing for Cinccino, but it'd be difficult to decide between Technician or Skill Link. Oh well, Tyranitar's dead either way.

Wake-Up Slap and Bullet Seed beg to differ. Both benefit from Technician, while with Skill Link, Bullet Seed is guaranteed to hit 5 times.

Jolly Gliscor (lol don't have a 5th gen calc Wake-up slap (Same attack minus technician and stab) vs. Adamant 252/4 Tyranitar: 48.5% - 57.4%
Not even close lol...

So Technician is needed to OHKO Tyranitar with Wake-Up Slap. I was about to type something about Arm Thrust but since it doesn't get it, there's no point.

So if you multiply 25 by 5, you get 125. Add Technician boost, and it's at 187.5 (?)
Hit 4* Super effective with crit=1500 power. Not factoring other things.

Man if this guy got Arm Thrust he'd be...better. Lack of a reliable fighting move hurts. We can only hope he gets it in Grey.

Also pairing this thing with a CB Escavalier in VGC matches is a fun, if flawed, combo. Use After You on Escavalier to shit on more or less everything with Bullet Seed and Rock Blast to take care of the things that threaten Escavalier, such as Jellicent and that fire moth thing whose name I cannot remember.

I know its been done to death in this thread but I don't feel like looking through 10 pages of stuff, so could someone just tell me off hand which is better for overall damage: Skill Link or Technician? I know Technician boosts the BP of moves from the get go, but I seen somewhere that w/ Skill Link crits happen more often, so that factors in as well.

Skill Link; Tail Slap's avg. BP with Technician is about 148 I believe, Skill Link is always about 187 (Not Factoring in accuracy),

Technician is 25BP*3.167(AverageHits)*1.5(Technician)*1.5(STAB) = 178.125 BP

Skill Link is 25BP*5(MaxHits)*1.5(STAB) = 187.5 BP

So it's whether you want an extra 5% damage on multi-hits or if you want an extra 50% damage on Wake-Up Slap.

Crits don't actually affect the averages relative to each other, persay, since Skill Link gets more crits while Technician gets stronger crits.

I don't think it's that simple to say just an extra 5% damage--you also have to take into account that Skill Link is more reliable damage. Over time, yes, they'll be about the same, but on a case by case basis Technician is unreliable. I want to KNOW I'm gonna kill that opposing pokemon because I'll have a consistent BP move instead of gambling on whether I'm gonna smack it five times or only two then die because I couldn't finish it off.

Again, this thing shoulda got Arm Thrust. And Icicle Spear.

Icicle Spear would be too far of a stretch, though I could sorta see it getting Arm Thrust.

I agree that Technician is unreliable, but for us non-hacking Wi-Fi players, it's the only option we have until Gray (or whenever 5th Generation Pokémon are available in the Dream World)

Even with hacking, it's still illegal on wifi...

Anyways, I think that Icicle Spear might be a stretch considering it doesn't get ice beam, but if it can "materialize" rocks to blast them (and not learn rock slide/tomb/throw), I don't see why it couldn't make ice.

Or maybe GameFreak could be nice and bring in a whole new multi-hit Fighting-type attack in the 3rd installment in the 5th Gen. then again, why would they do something that made sense (cough cough give Snorlax Slack Off cough cough, but that's for a different discussion)?

Gastly can punch people in the face and it has no arms. Ampharos still can't learn Tail Glow/Firefly Light despite having a goddamn beacon on its tail. This series isn't known for its logic.
