Technically, it's a team

I started this team off wanting to build around pokemon that could use Technician. I found that the two best were Scizor and Breloom. I always thought Breloom was one of the most adorable things ever that could also kick your ass and Scizor was cool steel dude. However, I didn't use Scizor in 4th gen because I felt he was kind of overpowered, but I don't feel that way in 5th Gen with all the crazy powerhouses running around! And thus, I started my quest to use them in a team together! Keep in mind, this has to be used on the crappyPokemon Online servers for right now since Breloom's Technician ability hasn't come out yet (Though don't base rates on stuff like Speed Boost Blaziken that are banned in Smogon teirs, but helpful advice would be nice.)

Team Building

This team began with Breloom and Scizor.

I had remembered seeing Zapdos on a team with a Breloom before, so I decided to see what it could do. I chose a specially defensive set.

I then chose Vaporeon and Skarmory. I figured Zapdos could handle a lot of Vaporeon's threats well (Ferrothorn, Grass users in general, neutral to electric, etc.) and Skarmory is starting to become a fast pick on all my teams lately. He may not have changed a lot since Gen 2, but he's still the best physical wall in the game (OU IMO.)

The final addition to the team was Infernape. I wanted someone who could counter stall leads with taunt (Lack of team preview on PO server... sigh...) and could still pack a punch. It was a Stealth Rock, Taunt, Overheat, Close Combat set and it worked pretty well.

This team desperately needed a fire resist. Oh so desperately. Vaporeon was taking hits like a champ, but he couldn't do but so much, bless his heart. So I decided to go with a Calm Mind Latias to take Fire attacks and possibly give me a second set up sweeper.

1st problem, my Latias set did nothing. I almost never switched him in and I could never really use him effectively. I thought about giving him wish to have a second wish passer, but I barely even used Vaporeon to wish pass. 2nd problem, if I was going to get rid of Latias, I was going to need a reliable fire resist. After some thinking, I decided to use Heatran. He absorbs fire, and my goodness the Air Balloon set worked wonders. Within my first like two matches he killed 4 pokemon in one match. It was pretty awesome. XD I also added in Rotom-W after testing Heatran. Rotom-W was put in to take electric attacks; but while his bulk is decent, it wasn't what I was looking for.

Rotom-W did not mesh well with this team, and overall this team was very easily overrun by Volcarona. I Put in Swampert to remedy two problems. 1. Volcarona. 2. Electric weakness. Being able to stop set up sweepers is just a nice little added bonus.

Current Problems

Not seeing any major ones right now.

Concerns You Might Have

Spin Blocker: I don't really need one. It wouldn't hurt to have one, but since Heatran takes out most spinners anyways, there is no need for one.

Scarfed Revenge Killer: I could see where someone could be concerned about my speed, but since two of my hardest hitters get Priority moves, I'm not too worried about it. 90 power should be plenty to finish off weakened pokemon.

The Team

heatran.png

Heatran (M) @ Air Balloon
Flash Fire
252 SAtk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)

- Fire Blast
- Earth Power
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Stealth Rock

My wonderful, versatile metal bug that can use fire. Oh how I love him. Air Ballon allows him to take on pokemon with Earthquake, giving my team a pseudo-immunity to ground (though not needed other than for Heatran's survival since I have Skarmory) His primary role is to take out annoying Pokemon like Ferrothorn, Grass type Pokemon (This team hates grass types. Shaymin makes this team QQ without Heatran,) occasionally dragon types, and so on. He is also given Stealth Rocks, a move that is important to pretty much every team. What makes Heatran such a great pick for this over others is that he can handle all of the main rapid spinners except Starmie (as long as his Air Balloon is intact), and 1HKO or 2HKO the majority of them.

Also, should I replace Fire Blast with Flamethrower? I get why mixed attackers use Fire Blast, but does Heatran earn any specific 2HKOs or 1HKOs that warrant its possible miss chance?

breloom.png

Breloom (M) @ Leftovers
Technician
132 HP / 252 Atk / 124 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)

- Mach Punch
- Bullet Seed
- Swords Dance
- Spore

The main star of the show. As long as walls that counter him are taken out, he can almost always sweep with a +2 Mach Punch. Of course, this is easier said than done, but not impossible. I use the Speed EVs I saw on another RMT. I'm sorry that I forget exactly what his reasoning was, but it made sense when I read it. :V

scizor2.png

Scizor (M) @ Choice Band
Technician
252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)

- Bullet Punch
- Superpower
- U-turn
- Pursuit

My second Technician abuser. Even though he and Breloom both use a fighting type move, they usually handle different kinds of threats. Scizor is kind of my early game Breloom, as he is bulky enough to switch in on attacks he resists. Using Bug Bite and U-turn has actually been helpful, but I could see the logic in removing Bug Bite for something else. Your thoughts are appreciated there.

Swampert.png

Swampert (M) @ Leftovers
Torrent
240 HP / 216 Def / 52 SDef
Relaxed Nature (+Def, -Spd)

- Ice Beam
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- Roar

One of two roar users and my counter to Volcarona. Swampert's bulk in general is amazing. This set offers him great coverage and allows him to switch in for many hits that Skarmory and Vaporeon don't wish to (Primarily Electric.) His grass weakness is covered by half the team, so that should not be a problem.

Vaporeon2.png

Vaporeon (M) @ Leftovers
Water Absorb
252 HP / 216 Def / 16 SDef
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)

- Scald
- Ice Beam
- Wish
- Protect

Arguably the best bulky water in the game (Jellicent is only contender, but I must admit he does have advantages), and for good reason. Vaporeon takes hits like a boss, specifically fire type moves that completely destroy both of my physical attackers. Using Ice Beam has helped me out before, and I don't see the point in using toxic when Breloom can just switch in on bulky pokemon, Spore, Swords, and Sweep. Heatran also breaks a lot of walls. Overall, this is just a basic wish passing set.

skarmory.png

Skarmory (M) @ Leftovers
Sturdy
252 HP / 252 Def / 4 Spd
Impish Nature (+Def, -SAtk)

- Brave Bird
- Spikes
- Whirlwind
- Roost

This Pokemon right here walls EVERYTHING! Okay, some Specially based and super STAB physical fire types destroy him, but otherwise he rocks! Speaking of rocks, since Heatran already sets them up, Skarmory is free to use Spikes. Skarmory takes out fighting types very well. This is important as most of my Pokemon can't take a neutral hit, and I have no resists to Fighting. Roar has saved my butt tons of times. Love this Metal Birdy.

Bullet Seed over Seed Bomb ok Breloom for 1.

I'll add more later I'm kind of tired right now.

EDIT:

I sugest swapping Vaporeon for bulky Latias or offensive Latios
380.png

Latias @ Leftovers
Levitate
252 HP / 252 Spd / 4 Def
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
-Thunder Wave/Toxic
-Wish
-Substitute
-Roar

381.png

Latios @ Life Orb
Levitate
252 SAtk / 252 Spd / 4 Def
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
-Draco Meteor
-Surf/Thunderbolt/Energy Ball
-Hidden Power [Fire]
-Ice Beam/Thunderbolt

For this one just make sure you are using Draco Meteor and Hidden Power [Fire] the other 2 moves don't really matter too much just pick the ones that will benefit your team the most.

As for Rotom-W you could leave him as he is or you could swap him out for Jellicent. This will give you something to take the Close Combats aimed at Heatran and also I think your team really needs the Ghost.

593.png

Jellicent @ Leftovers
Water Absorb
248 HP / 216 Def / 44 Spd
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
-Scald
-Will-O-Wisp/Toxic
-Recover
-Taunt/Shadow Ball

Pursuit over Bug Bite on Scizor is a must, since it can switch in on a Latios/Lastias Draco Meteor and take them out on the switch. And you already have U-Turn for STAB Technitian Bug attack.

Okay, I have a MAJOR Volcarona weakness. Rotom-W is not a reliable switch in. Just fought one in the sun, it solarbeam. Fought another... got crit with bug buzz. >_<

Well, to help with the Volcarona weakness, you could replace Rotom-W with Jellicent. It resists both STABs and has Recover and can use Will-o-Wisp. Having two bulky Waters is not needed, so I think you should take out Vaporeon. I suggest a Wish passing Latias, she has the bulk, speed and Dragon typing. Since half your team is weak to Thunderbolt, Latias would be great on your team. The set I run is Wish, Protect, Draco Meteor/Dragon Pulse the last slot is up to you, Thunderwave, Toxic, Roar, screens, HP Fire, etc.

Jellicent has a decent special bulk and resists both STABs. It can also use Toxic to wear down Volcarona. It also blocks Rapid Spin so Stealth Rocks would remain in play.

If you feel that Volcarona is THAT big of a problem, you could replace something like Pursuit with Quick Attack on Scizor. Yeah, sounds like a waste of a move but Quick Attack hits Pokemon that Bullet Punch normally can't. (Volcarona, Thundurus, Starmie, Blaziken. etc.) Up to you though.

Okay, I put in Swampert. I'm liking him so far. I know I have three pokemon using Ice attacks now. I'm going to play test a bit more and see what it does for me. I'm considering Hp Electric on Heatran.

Switch Spikes on Skarm for Stealth Rock to hurt Volcorona switching in, then Swampert won't have to be a dedicated counter to it.
