Hello everybody. I would like to post my first team that I created. I read many different articles on internet about pokemon, different strategies and stuff, but am still a noob. This team is suppose to be for random wifi battles on nds, which means that pokemons should hold different items. But before I start breeding and stuff I wanted to test it on Pokemon Online, which I found out about just a few weeks ago. I tried lots of different pokemons and so far I have come up with this team. I would like any help from you guys, if you can find the time for me.
So here it is: Some pokemons dont have items because I didnt know which one would be the best for them, so I need help there too.
POLITOED @
Ability: Drizzle
EVs: 252 Hp 252 Def 4 SDef
Nature: Bold +Def -Atk
- Scald
- Ice Beam
- Toxic
- Perish Song
This little green frog is my lead with his perfect ability for permanent rain. I choose the defensive set over power, because i like him to stick around a bit longer, considering there are four different types of weather out there. His only job is to survive long enoung until opposing weather inducers are KOed. He is a double status (tripple if I manage to froze something with Ice Beam) inflicter with Scald for physical attackers and Toxic for everything that isnt steel type. On the last slot, I dont know if I want Perish Song, Protect, or Encore. For now am trying Perish Song, which is good if I want the oponent to switch. Encore was useless since am running Quagsire and am not that good to predict when my oponent is gonna use a boosting move. But am still thinking about using Protect which helps to know what kind of attack is coming at me. Not sure what item I should give him, since Toxicroak already has Leftovers. Any ideas?
BRELOOM @ Toxic Orb
Ability: Poison Heal
EVs: 4 Hp 252 Atk 252 Spe
Nature: Jolly +Spe -SAtk
- Spore
- Substitute
- Seed Bomb
- Mach Punch
Ok, this guy was originaly Ludicolo, but then I read somewhere that Swift Swim isnt allowed together with Drizzle, which sux by the way, I tried to use this thing. I know its possible for Ludicolo to have Rain Dish, but then I would loose this little mushroom and I really like mushrooms :) Anyway, back to the description. I use this guy specialy as a status absorber. When I think my oponent is gonna use thunderwave or toxic, I send this out this guy. I gave him max speed and Jolly nature to outspeed as many things as possible, so I can put something to sleep with Spore before it KO me. Then I just hide behind Substitute and hope he doesnt have a counter againt it. Seed bomb is against other water types which could be a problem under rain. Again the last slot is a gamble between strong Superpower, life absorbing Drain Punch and priority move Mach Punch. For now am trying Mach punch, because it helps strike down some pokemons when the oponent pokemon is weak.
TOXICROAK @ Leftovers
Ability: Dry Skin
EVs: 4 Hp 252 Atk 252 Spe
Nature: Jolly +Spe -SAtk
- Swords Dance
- Substitute
- Drain Punch
- Sucker Punch
Well, since I cant have any fire pokemon, cause their moves would be weakened anyway, I decided to try another frog, this time its a blue frog (or purple, whatever), to deal with steel types. His ability Dry Skin really fit in this team and after Swords Dance he is a monster. Fighting from behind a Substitute is a cowardly thing, but it helps to see what move is oponent gonna use if I manage to us Substitute first. Drain Punch and Dry Skin keeps him healthy, Sucker Punch is a good priority move against psychic a ghost types who think they can counter it. And his poison type is a blessing, because i read somewhere it can absorb Toxic Spikes on my side when I switch him in (correct me if am wrong).
ROTOM-W @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 Hp 4 SAtk 252 Spe
Nature: Timid +Spe -Atk
- Thunder
- Hydro Pump
- Thunder Wave
- Trick
This fancy refridgerator or wash machine or whatever, Rotom fits very nice in this team. Having STAB 100% accurate Thunder and Hydro Pump makes him unpredictable. When I switch him against other water types, I often go with Thunder, but if I know they still have a ground pokemon to counter it, I use Hydro Pump hoping they would switch and fall for that. I use Thunder Wave after I use Trick to nullify the speed boost I just gave them with the Choice Scarf. Or not. To tell the truth, I havent been using Thunder Wave much, still thinking to change it for something more useful like Shadow Ball or Dark Pulse. I gave him 252 EVs in Hp instead of SAtk, so he can survive som heavy hits. Now I have easier time switching him in. Also his Levitate ability makes him good switch against earthquakes and he doesnt take damage from Spikes, which is nice.
QUAGSIRE @
Ability: Unaware
EVs: 252 Hp 4 Def 252 SDef
Nature: Impish +Def -SAtk
- Stockpile
- Recover
- Yawn
- Body Slam
It is unbelievable how good this thing is. At first I was skeptical about him, but now I see the light. Even though his stats arent that great, he has one thing that not many pokemons have, ability Unaware. Whenever I see a pokemon whose about to use Swords Dance or any other boosting move, I just send Quagsire to say HI. And another great thing is that even though they cant boost their stats, I can, with an awesome move called Stockpile which boost both my defences +1. Combine it with Recover and you have an unbreakable wall. I made him another double status inflicter just like the green frog, but this time in the form of sleep and paralysis. Am am not really sure about the EVs spread. I gave him max Hp and tried to make his defenses even, so I can boost them to the same heights. The only problem could be pokemons like my Breloom or Gliscor that already have a status. I could try running Ice Beam or Surf, but with his poor stats, he wont be doing much damage and the fight can go on until one of us will have no PP left. I was thinking giving him the item Red Card, so the oponent would be forced to switch. Tell me if its a good idea.
FERROTHORN @ Shed Shell
Ability: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 Hp 40 Def 216 SDef
Nature: Relaxed +Def -Spe (0 IV in Speed)
- Leech Seed
- Spikes
- Gyro Ball
- Power Whip
Am not really sure about this last pokemon. Sure he is great, stops Outrage and other dragon moves, has great defenses and can destroy anything my team might be afraid of with Gyro Ball. (Seriously, once I swept oponents team just with Ferrothorn and his Gyro Ball). I want to fit Stealth Rock in there, but I dont want to loose any other move too. And another problem is he doesnt have a Rapid Spin, unlike his distant relative Forretress who is unfortunately more fragile than Ferrothorn. Rapid Spin could be very usefull in my team, but I dont thing is necessary, cause whenever I see oponent is trying to set up Spikes and stuff I do everything I can to kill it, but manytimes am just late. But thats life, you cant win everytime, right...
Thats all, please tell me what you think and how can I improve it. resTekP
