My favorite Ferro set is Thunder Wave / Leech Seed / Spikes / Power Whip. Thunder wave is just a pain in the ass to switch ins (just watch for conkeldurr) and even lets you beat magnezone on the switch. Gyro ball obviously doesn't work with twave but power whip is enough. It's nice to have half of the other team paralyzed as stuff like Reuniclus can do really well.

^. Power whip is a significantly better option for a mono attacking ferrothorn as it allows you to kill tyranitar better, hit bulky waters, and just hit slower pokemon in general. Gyro ball is cool but the cnsistency and guaranteed massive output from power whip is just awesome.

Yeah, power whip is boss.

I prefer to put it over t-wave, who needs paralysis when you have DEATH?

Or leech seeds.

if you dont need entry hazards, leech seed protect gyro ball power whip is my favorite set.

anyone ever try subseeding ferrothorns?

come in on something, force it out while u sub up, and stall?

Eh. I prefer just leech seeding on the switchin, but subseeding could really piss off some teams i guess.

Sounds awesome lol, silly dragonite users.

Although they could just spam DD and stuff, forcing you to waste all your PP and then win.

Eh, if you subbed on me i'd attack as you used toxic, or spam attacks as soon as you toxic'd. Guess d-nite users switch in in you or they are just silly for using d-nite.

this is what happens.

Also what does your example have to do with using Roost on Gliscor?
Agreed. And I think he meant that Dragonite has Roost, which wasn't even in his example, so whatever. Also...What idiot sets up a Dragon Dance on a Gliscor? Literally all of them have Ice Fang anyway.

Ice fang is surprisingly weak some times. Also I have been seeing some aqua tail DD dragonite around which can really cause teams that rely on gliscor to fall apart really quickly into gg territory.

Except Heal Bell is illegal with Multiscale.

DDNite is an awesome Poke by the way. The set I use is:

Dragonite @ Leftovers
Multiscale
Adamant 252/64/0/0/0/192
- Dragon Claw
- Fire Punch
- Dragon Dance
- Roost

Enough speed to outpace Scarftar at +1 (very useful for stalling out Stone Edge), and by extension Lati@s and Thundurus. Also outspeeds Jolly Excadrill in the sand at +3, which can be surprisingly easy to get. It can be easly stopped if you're prepared for it (Gliscor, Skarm to an extent, walls with Will-O-Wisp / T-Wave, Mamoswine, etc.), but otherwise you're going to have to hope for a crit during the set-up phase.

sorry for the double post BUT my gliscor outspeeds all sub dragonites at +0. second, if the dragonite roosts, then it still dies while stalling because its BADLY poisone, toxic damage builds up. after like the 8th turn, dragonite is losing more than half his health from toxic.

Depending on the set, Dragonite seldom cares about ice moves. Between DD and Roost, the only reliable way to KO him is with Dragon moves. Ice beams just aren't reliable anymore when he's taking neutral damage from an unSTABed 95 BP attack. Unless you manage to catch him out, his ice weakness barely exists.

Standard Gliscor vs. Offensive Dragonite (252 Atk and Speed, no HP or Def investment.)

Ice Fang does 58% - 69%, not even a OHKO with rocks.

Add Multiscale: 29% - 34%

Multiscale and Roost: 14% - 17% Pathetic damage. This won't even break nite's subs.

Gliscor can Taunt Dragonite though. This is a poor matchup for both parties. Dnite can't set up, and Gliscor could potentially lose momentum.

All gliscor run swords dance or taunt, and most run both. I'd just taunt you as you did whatever, then spam ice fangs or swords dances depending.

On another note, is it even worth it to run Thunderbolt on defensive Rotom-Wash anymore? Volt Switch seems much more useful, and the power drop is easily made up for by the switch advantage you gain.

Most Rotom have volt switch over t-bolt and some even have both. Volt switching to a pursuit user beats some of Rotom's switchins (Lati@s, Celebi) where with others like Ferrothorn you can easily set up with something. The only problem with the power loss is hitting bulky waters harder. Volt switch won't bring down Jellicent too reliably.

lol i dont run Volt Switch on my Specs Rotom because I wanted TBolt for the extra power. It can OHKO many things, and i think that Specs Rotom-W is very underrated in this metagame. Js
