So I've looked around for a while, and I'm not able to find how to calculate a pokemon's DV's when they are bred. Any information would be helpful. Sorry if this is in the wrong spot.

Breeding is basically the same as in Emerald. I am assuming that you mean with the IVs, in which case it is going to be the same. For example, an Adamant Bagon with a 31 Atk IV at Lv5 will have a 15 Atk stat, but 15 goes for ~25+. So if you get one that may be right, you generally need to get it to atleast Lv30 to get an accurate judgment. Of course, the fact that eggs now hatch at Lv1 instead of Lv5 makes this harder to do, since it will likely set the 31 value among 15+....

To check DVs when they are bred, you can use a single-level DV calculator such as the one on most Pokemon websites or Metalkid's DV calculator for a more accurate answer.

Speaking of ivs, Im hatching magikarp now and got the 2 worst eggs ever. First one had 3/2/4/0/8/12. Second one had 5/18/14/0/0/0. freaking A.

NO, you cannot do this, I have the game, therefore have proof. The battle tower does not set your pokemon unlike wifi. However, you can battle another setting all pokemon to level 100 so you get exact IV's on wifi. This method makes breeding go faster especially when somebody else is doing the same thing. They are referred to as "IV battles" (how creative) and make it a lot easier than using rare candies.

Besides the fact that this probably should have gone in the "Look what I just bred" thread, why in the world would you waste your time accurately checking the IVs of a pokemon that the Legendary Breeder would say is "average" or that you should be able to tell from a glance sucks in all regards?

Just pop in the #'s and check what the stats should be. If he's on point at Lv.5 I stick em in the daycare until Lv.20. I use level 20 as a barometer of where it's stats will be. If at Level 20 you still on point - save and feed em <80> Rare Candies to check for sure.

You don't have to do that. If you use my IV calcualtor, you can get exact IVs around level 20.

If you're looking for perfect 31 IVs in anything, it can be quicker than you think. Right now I'm breeding Heracross in Diamond (and by "breeding," I mean using the Advance trick of hatching the same egg repeatedly to assure nature/trait/gender), and I can know if it's got perfect Attack by level 7 and Speed by level 8 using MetalKid's program if I use two Proteins and five Carbos (which I would have used anyway).

I'd say try poking around with EVs and MetalKid's program to see how early you can figure out an exact stat, 31 or otherwise.
