My First Team That Isn't Totally Abysmal

I've been trying to get together a good team (and I think I have?), but even more importantly I've been trying to be a better battler. This is the team I'm currently using and my ranking is a mediocre 1077/2404 so I figured now would be a good time to have my team assessed. If I want to get any better my team has to grow with me . . . I think? D: Regardless my team probably has some glaring problems and I'd like some help with that!

EDIT: I'm testing the current team now, so some descriptions are kind of blank.

472.gif

Gliscor @ Toxic Orb
Ability: Poison Heal
EVs: 252 HP / 184 Def / 72 Spe
Nature: Impish
Swords Dance
Earthquake
Ice Fang
Protect

  • I play it a lot like my Eelek, which is probably a bad thing because I should be able to predict most threats instead of needing to protect to tell what's going on.
635.gif

Hydreigon @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Sp Att / 252 Spe
Nature: Modest
Dragon Pulse
Surf
Focus Blast
Dark Pulse

  • I usually switch him in on elemental attacks or Blissey/Chancey.
462.gif

Magnezone @ Choice Specs
Ability: Analytic
EVs: HP 252 / 252 SpA
Nature: Modest
Thunderbolt
Charge Beam
Flash Cannon
HP Ice

  • I usually use HP Grass if I switch in Magnezone on a water type. I use Flash Cannon for sweeps.
286.gif

Breloom @ Life Orb
Ability: Poison Heal
EVs: 252 Att / 252 Spe
Nature: Adamant
Bullet Seed
Spore
Mach Punch
Rock Tomb

  • I love Breloom and really wanted it on my team, even though I don't play it well. I'm always afraid to switch it in. It usually just shows up after one of my mons have been KOd and Mach Punchs something with lose health before I switch out to Hydre (to tank a fire blast/flamethrower/blitz) or . . .
604.gif

Eelektross @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / SpA 252
Nature: Modest
Discharge
Flamethrower
HP Ice
Protect

  • I use protect to check the opponent's moves and then swap if necessary. I usually spam a stab discharge if all else fails.
579.gif

Reuniclus @ Leftovers
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 Spe
Nature: Bold
Calm Mind
Recover
Psychic
Focus Blast

  • I've managed to KO a decent number of things with this even though I'm really bad at setting up and I get pursuit'd a lot.
Any glaring problems? :(

Both of your walls dont have any recovery next to leftovers.
Also using a hydreigon as a special wall is a bit ... weird. but it could work i suppose.
The tactic you use with your swampert is ok but roar isa last priority move , meaning he will always take a hit before roaring again. Looking for something to kill this way can get a bit tricky .
As for magnezone , i would give him hp fire. This way you can trap steel types wich are almost all weak to fire. As a last move i have no clue what they usually use but i seen some1 pull off a substitute setup rather well.
Eleektross might have no weaknesses but next to that he doesnt have much to offer wich i think is a downside. As a wall/scout as you use him he can be replaced by better ones ... altho i dont really know wich ones atm hehe.

The reuniclus set seems nice . You could go into his analasys thread to seeif there is maybe a better set you can use but this one looks ok. You get pursuited alot because people always have something to hold against a reuniclus as he should be killed asap if you dont want t be killed by it :D

Definately Change Breloom to Technician Life Orb, this is DW after all and Poison Heal is better only on a Sub set. It allows it to OHKO Excadrill and other powerful threats with Mach Punch. Bullet Seed over Seed Bomb. Bullet Seed has a 75% chance (3hits or more) of hitting harder than Seed Bomb due to the technician boost.

The Hydreigon set is just... awkward. Its also incompatible with Magnezone, who will outspeed many paralyzed foes. Your only dragon resist is Magnezone, which means Latios has a field day against you. I suggest replacing Hydreigon with a specially defensive Heatran to sponge meteors like a boss.

Mirror Coat on Magnezone is just, really bad. If you don't want to replace Mag, run Charge Beam. I would suggest replacing Mag completely with Gliscor. Your team is absolutely run over by Excadrill, having another check to the plethora of fighting types that plague DW doesn't hurt either.

@Soulfly
Yea I have no idea what to do with swampert. I might replace him...
I'd like to see how HP fire would work on mag but without hp ice my team does badly, I'll try out sub though!

@Integral
I think I'll give that breloom set a try. Latios hasn't been much of a problem for my team, but I'll put HP Ice on Mag and swap swampert for gliscor. I've yet to have a problem with excadrill (Reunclius Handles them). I see what you mean about the Twave problem, so I've decided to remove Twave, but what should I replace it with? For now it's gonna be Dark Pulse.

I'll edit my team with these changes in a few minutes.

Reuniculus needs Life Orb, it can freely use the 30% power boost without taking damage
And yes, don't use a Specially Defensive Hydreigon, it needs to be a Special Attacker
Hydreigon
Draco Meteor/Dragon Pulse
Dark Pulse
Focus Blast
U-Turn/Surf
Choice Scarf
evs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Draco Meteor/Dragon Pulse is up to you, Dark Pulse is the other STAB. U-Turn is good if you face a poke who you are weak to, Choice Scarf ensures you are as fast as possible.

And I'll just like to point out that if you replace Swampert with Gliscor, you have no counter to Heatran. Just something to consider if you make the swap
Heatran with Air Balloon can defeat your entire team.

I don't like the idea of Reun having Life Orb. I make too many dumb mistakes and I always seem to wind up with Reun trapped in attraction/para and I'm glad that I have leftovers to help out. I'll Change Hydre to Sweeper because I don't really see an advantage to him being defensive, but I'm gonna hold off on Choice Scarf, I don't think I predict well enough for that and I'll wind up wasting good turns swapping out because I chose something dumb. :C

And I've played a few battles so far and Heatran hasn't given me any trouble. Reun and Hydre handle it well, and if things go wrong Breloom can Mach Punch my problems away. I've defeated plenty of Balloon Heatrans....

Don't really see how Reuniculus can switch into Heatran since its defensive, and since your changing Hydreigon to a sweeper it won't be able to wall as well. I still feel Heatran can be a big problem to your team, and you have to consider Specs and Scarf versions. Breloom is not a good switch in you have to remember, Flamethrower can OHKO it. Mach Punch will only work if you revenge-kill Heatran, note that. An unboosted Mach Punch can't even 2HKO Heatran. No offence, but if you play at lower levels it is unlikely that there will be experienced players and good Heatrans to pose any threat. Anyway, if you don't see the need to change its all right, just take this in mind if you ever have problems with Heatran in the future.
