A fat frog in the rain

A fat frog in the rain

Hey, once rmt I post here, but I had to build a team for a tournament. As I always builds SandStorm, for once I wanted to build a rain. So I need your advice for improvement.

The Team

186.png

Crazy Frog (Politoed) (M) @ Choice Specs Trait: Drizzle
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SAtk
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Spd)
- Hydro Pump
- Ice Beam
- Focus Blast
- Hidden Power [Grass]

Here the climate inducer of rain dance teams, I chose the specs, because it allows for very large damage in the opposing team even Rotom, and then let the road has toxicroak to finish the game. H-pump do very large damage with Stabb and rain, the problem is its low accuracy. HP Grass for gastrodon often I anticipate the switch and I gastrodon HP grass, and it gives me less to take care against, focus blast for ferrothorn, and ice beam for dragons and bulky plant, mainly Latios and Celebi

PoisonCook (Toxicroak) (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Dry Skin
EVs: 244 HP / 252 Atk / 12 Def
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Substitute
- Drain Punch
- Sucker Punch
- Bulk Up

This is my finisher, it's really hard to remove after two bulk-up I've even won my battle against gliscor, Those who go on it is mainly the dragons, which are probably already eliminated by ice beam on an anticipation of politoed or otherwise. After two bulk-up loses of earthquake damage on gliscor but very little, he recovers with dry skin and leftovers, Bulk moove-up setup, low blow to the priority and the spectra, and also lati @ s, Drain punch stab. And sub to facilitate the placement, it gives me more immunity water.

Whirlpool (Rotom-W) @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Volt Switch
- Hydro Pump
- Trick
- Thunder

If I put Rotom is to fight against the biggest bulk of toxicroak upper: Gliscor, Rotom is not afraid of his attacks are immune to ground attacks and attacks ice, it is sometimes possible to finish the match if the Pokemon opponents are abraded, H-pump is a monstrous power in the rain, Volt Change to anticipate the opponent switches and I put the cons of pokemon happens. Thunder stab for a more powerful, and it is a quicker solution to jellicent, trick to have ferrothorns on the switch and make them practically useles

598.png

Noacier (Ferrothorn) (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP / 48 Def / 208 SDef
Relaxed Nature (+Def, -Spd)
- Stealth Rock
- Thunder Wave
- Power Whip
- Gyro Ball

So then I took ferrothorn because I have a weak electric, it also allows me to tank the other h-pumps. And it allows me to counter Lati @ s that are a blight on the rain dance teams, including mine, that's why I put ferrothorn cage lightning to paralyze the Pokemon able to switch over with infernape etc. .. ., Gyroball in stab, stab second power whip and allows me to do damage to the bulky water, Stealth Rock to ask the SR Lol

380.png

Latias (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Substitute
- Dragon Pulse
- Recover
- Calm Mind

I put Latias because it allows me to RK stuff like Dragonite choice haxorus bandage or that might interfere with the sweep of toxicroak severely. I play the subCM For that I absorbed a kind of status and it allows me to place myself in such politoed with toxic. Or Rotom-W with WoW. dragon pulse in stab, Calm Mind moove in set-up, care to treat me lol. I get the entire teams sometimes it's nothing, except Haxx. I can easily place on politoed, who after a calm mind I do not even 2HKO with ice beam, I often take a good crit, but it does not matter; D

466.png

Elekable (Electivire) (M) @ Life Orb
Trait: Motor Drive
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- ThunderPunch
- Ice Punch
- Cross Chop
- Earthquake

You tell me, why electivire, but it is very large hole in the opposing team when he was placed on a eletric moove, it can kill lots of stuff that can interfere with the sweep of toxicroak like Gyarados or dragonite. and the other dragons. I have to put out fire punch earthquake because the rain reduces the damage by two punch of fire, earthquake, and I think that here is much more useful. Cross Hop allows me to do damage to Pokemon as ferrothorn (2HKO with LO) Or Mamoswine. Thunder punch in stab and ice punch for dragons.

This is the end of the RMT, I hope you enjoyed it, and I hope you can help me to improve this team because I really need advice and improvements. Thank you for reading ^ ^

I like the idea of elektivire!
Mostlikely you can get a clean sweep of after a motor drive.
And all that you cant kill , cant kill you .

I think Swords Dance on Toxicroak would be much better than Bulk Up, but hmm. A bulky set for Rotom-Wash I think would be better.

Rotom-W @ Leftovers
EVs: 112 HP / 252 Special Attack / 144 Speed
Modest Nature
  • Hyrdro Pump
  • Thunderbolt
  • Pain Split
  • Will-O-Wisp

You are able to take more hits and easily inflict damage due to a 339 Special Attack Stat with Modest Nature and 252 Special Attack EVs.

Also, I think you really should change Ferrothorn to ScarfTar to check Latios because I see him causing troubles to your team. ScarfTar isn't that popular in Gen 5, but I think it's still decent.

Tyranitar @ Choice Scarf
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Attack / 252 Speed
Jolly Nature
Moves:
  • Stone Edge
  • Pursuit
  • Earthquake
  • Superpower

Stone Edge serves as the STAB move and certainly packs a punch. Pursuit is also a STAB move and checks Latios. Earthquake has amazing coverage and has great damage. Superpower is another good move to use because it destroys Blissey and Chansey. Hope I helped and good luck with the team!

Yes, but if I change my climate ferrothorn for scarftar will retire at each entrance to tyranitar game, and I will have more Setter SR
mmm I would think about it
thank you for the comments ^ ^

Hi,

Your team has some issues dealing with things like Reuniclus, Gastrodon, and sand sweepers along the lines of Excadrill, Landorus and Terrakion. Using Roar > Substitute on Latias can help you out vs. Reuniclus, who otherwise deals with members of your team easily, and Toxicroak fails to revenge it with Sucker Punch. This change will also help you a bit against stall teams, allowing you to phaze out pokemon like CM Jirachi. Another minor change is that Politoed should proabably run a Choice Scarf with Modest Nature and move the Hp EVs into speed, so you can have something to revenge Thunderus besides Electivire, who is a shaky counter at best. Hp Grass should then be replaced with Perish Song, because it deals pitiful damage to Gastrodon without a specs. To resolve your weakness to sand sweepers, I would suggest using a Gliscor over your current Electivire. Here is the set:

Gliscor (F) @ Toxic Orb
Trait: Poison Heal
EVs: 244 HP / 176 Def / 88 Spd
Impish Nature (+Def, -SAtk)
- Ice Fang
- Swords Dance
- Earthquake
- Protect

The given EVs maximize Poison Heal recovery as well as allow you to speed creep opposing gliscor who run 80 speed EVs. This will give you a surefire way to deal with Terrakion, Excadrill and things of that nature as well as countering Conkeldurr, who can become a pain.

You should consider using Leech Seed > Gyro ball on Ferrothorn to provide you recovery after switching into something like Latios' Draco Meteor or Surf, otherwise Ferro will be worn down quickly. With Politoed now running a Scarf set, you can now use a Bulky Rotom-w with 244 HP / 252 SpA / 152 Def and a set of Pain Split | Thunderbolt | Hydro Pump | Will-o-wisp. The given set will help you take care of SD Virizion, common sand sweepers, as well as Jellicent.

This should hopefully solidify your team, and if you have trouble with Volcarona or Gastrodon, you could consider Jellicent. Good luck!

Can you eleborate how TYRANITAR fits on a RAIN TEAM.

Neroo, if you feel Latias and Latios are problems, then use Scizor or Jirachi.

Thanks San Pellegrino, I try that ^^
And it's not the timid nature ? Because with the modest i've 328 Spe and i can't Revenge kill thundurus
and the spread of rotom-w have to many ev's
Scarwynaut : i've no problem with latios and latias for the time. ^^ Thank you :D
Other advices ?

Sorry about that Neroo, it was late. Use 112 SpAtk EVs and Modest Politoed with Scarf reaches 358, enough to outspeed the 353 speed thunderus.

Update the original post, some people are getting confused.

Anyway, I prefer using max HP/Def Rotom since it counters Excadrill even when at 50% health, and survives stuff like Mienshao's HJK. It doesn't hit as hard, but the defensive payoffs are great.

Hey, I have a suggestion for your Rotom-W. Switch Thunder for Discharge because that way you'll be able to toss around some good old para-haxes with a 30% chance of paralysis. Also, if you lose your rain frog and there's still a weather starter alive on the opponent's side, you lose the weather war, and a 100% accuracy move in the rain turns into 70% in hail and sand, and 50% in intense sun. Just a little bit of advice for ya, and think about using Max HP/Def Rotom-W, since its' attacks will still have some bite on it even without the investment in Special Attack, and it'll be able to take defensive hits like a monster.

If you're up against a sand team with Excadrill, you'll have quite some trouble dealing with him. Nothing can outspeed him in sand, while Politoed gets outsped and OHKOed by +2 Earthquake after you switch him in even when rain is up. In fact, nothing can take on a LO Excadrill at +2, as everything is OHKOed.
Trick Room Reuniclus seems troublesome, can set up Trick Room against Politoed, Toxicroak, Ferrothorn or Electivire and then "outspeeds" your whole team and OHKOes or 2HKOes them all, while not taking any significant damage from any of your team's attacks.

Therefore, a Skarmory should work well over Ferrothorn. He can take on Excadrill with his Ground immunity, Normal resistance and Rock resistance. Even with a Specially Defensive spread, +2 Adamant LO Rock Slide still isn't a 2HKO while you can phaze him out. Reuniclus also doesn't manage to do much with Focus Blast and you can set up Stealth Rock or phaze him out. The exact set is:

227.png
Skarmory @ Leftovers | Sturdy
Impish | 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Stealth Rock / Brave Bird / Whirlwind / Roost

Good luck!
