Another Rainy Day...[BW OU Rain Team]

Hello everyone, this is my new team I've been working on and it turned out to be great, but I think it can get even better,so I've decided to make a RMT so you guys could help me in making the team better!

First off,I wanted a basic Rain Team with mons that would mostly benefit from the rain, but also wanted to add counters to other weather teams.I started with Politoed of course,as only OU weather inducer he's a must for rain teams.Than I came up with Ferrothorn, because he's simply awesome under the rain neutralising his fire weakness leaves him weak to fighting moves only. He's my mixed wall and supporter. After that I wanted something that could spin away the entry hazards and benefit from the rain.Starmie was the perfect choice. After Starmie,I had 2 electric weaknesses so I wanted something that resists or is immune to electric moves.I firstly tried Virizion but after I saw a few teams running Gliscor to counter Sand teams and Excadrill I thought, why wouldn't I try?
Gliscor seemed to fit well,no matter the water weakness + under rain, I had enough mons to cover that weakness. After some time spent thinking,I've decided to put a MixNite on my team, simply cuz it's powerful enough to take out the whole team on it's own after removing his counters. At last,I decided to put my favourite poke this genereation, and it's Scrafty! This guy won me so many battles on other teams that it's just ridicoulous. He's capable of sweeping entire teams when he manages to set up.Anyway, let's take a closer look at the team!

ToadMode (Politoed) (M) @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Drizzle
EVs: 252 SAtk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Hydro Pump
- Ice Beam
- Perish Song
- Hidden Power [Grass]

SYNERGY:
Grass: Ferrothorn,Dragonite
Electric: Ferrothorn,Gliscor

Yeh,the basic of any rain team.I decided to run scarftoed to outspeed non scarfed mons with exception of Accelgor and Deoxys-S.It can effectivly kill most pokes which don't resist his attacks under the rain.I decided to use HP[Grass] to counter dumb fuck Gastrodon and Quagsire and other Bulky waters.Perish Song to stop Baton Pass teams or shit trying to set up.Hydro pump as a powerful STAB and Ice Beam for coverage, mostly Dragons and predicted Celebi switches.

598.png

TeeHee (Ferrothorn) (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP / 60 Def / 196 SDef
Sassy Nature (+SDef, -Spd)
- Thunder Wave
- Power Whip
- Stealth Rock
- Leech Seed

SYNERGY:
Fighting:Dragonite,Gliscor,Starmie
Fire:Politoed,Starmie,Dragonite

Do I even have to say anything? This guy is seen on most rain teams and has a reputation of an epic wall and annoyer..His typing fits the team pretty well making great synergy. The set is pretty standard.Stealth Rock for support,T-wave to slow things down so sweepers can kill them more effecitvly,Leech Seed to heal and cripple anything that's not grass slowly and Power Whip as a powerful STAB for bulky waters,T-Tar and other things.

121.png

Star Wash (Starmie) @ Life Orb
Trait: Natural Cure
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Hydro Pump
- Thunder
- Rapid Spin
- Ice Beam

SYNERGY:
Dark:Ferrothorn,Scrafty
Electric:Gliscor,Ferrothorn
Grass:Dragonite,Ferrothorn
Ghost:Ferrothorn,Scrafty

Probably the best RS-er for offensive Rain teams. He can RS effectivly and sweep like a pro.A 100% accurate Thunder is really cool thing to have.Hydro Pump as a powerful STAB which can hurt anythign that it's not resisted by pretty much.Ice Beam for dragons, flyiers etc..

149.png

Nite (Dragonite) (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Multiscale
EVs: 56 HP / 140 Atk / 156 SAtk / 152 Spd
Rash Nature (+SAtk, -SDef)
- Draco Meteor
- Hurricane
- Earthquake
- ExtremeSpeed

SYNERGY:
Ice:Politoed,Starmie
Dragon:Ferrothorn
Rock:Ferrothorn,Scrafty

MixNite, the superior.I love this dragon so much I can't describe it.After his counters are gone, this thing just rapes the opposing team in the late game. STAB Draco Meteor KO's all other dragons and deals significant damage to everything it's not resisted by. STAB Hurricane, 100% accurate under rain is a total rape, wrecking those annoying fighting mons like Conkelderp.Earthquake for sun teams mostly and ExtremeSpeed to finish the weakened pokes.

472.png

Dracula (Gliscor) (M) @ Toxic Orb
Trait: Poison Heal
EVs: 164 HP / 148 Def / 196 Spd
Impish Nature (+Def, -SAtk)
- Swords Dance
- Earthquake
- Ice Fang
- Taunt

SYNERGY:
Ice: Politoed,Starmie
Water:Politoed,Starmie,Dragonite,Ferrothorn

After trying out numerous thing, and seeing some rain teams using this guy,I've decided to try him out, and have never regreted.Gliscor serves as a physical wall and he's my main counter to Sand teams and a huge counter to Excadrill. This set allows me to sweep and the invested Spd EV's allow me to outspeed most of his counters. After a few SD-s he can sweep effectivly.Taunt prevents things from setting up or laying entry hazards.Earthquake is a powerful STAB which OHKO's Ninetales and T-Tar after 1 SD.Ice Fang for other Gliscor and dragons.

560.png

Neymar (Scrafty) (M) @ Lum Berry
Trait: Moxie
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Dragon Dance
- Drain Punch
- Ice Punch
- Crunch

SYNERGY:
Flying: -none-
Fighting:Dragonite,Starmie,Gliscor

As I said before,my favourite mon this gen. This thing is so powerful that it's even capable of sweeping entire unprepared teams after 1-2 DD-s.It's ability,Moxie gives him free +1 Atk boost after each kill and it's probably the reason why this thing can sweep teams on its own.Drain Punch is an awesome STAB move for Scrafty with which he can both heal and deal huge damage.STAB Crunch also OHKO's anything that's weak to it.Ice Punch is for good coverage for dragons, silly Gliscor's who think they can set up on me and they get smashed after 2 DD's.This thing won me so many battles, probably even more than the whole team together.Always, when I think I could set up on something I simply switch into it and start D-Dancing.If I get Taunted I start killing it to get the Moxie boost. This strategy works out almost always for me and it's freaking awesome!

all changes made on the team(EV spread, moveset etc...) will be in BLACK!

Rate and have fun ;D

Pretty big Rotom-W weakness. Ferrothorn is obviously not an ideal switch in because once it takes a burn it's pretty much out of commission for the rest of the game, and Rotom-W can just switch out and continue shitting on the rest of your team. Dragonite can't keep up with Rotom-W's boosted Hydro Pumps and STAB Thunderbolts because firstly you lack Roost and secondly you're using a -SpD nature. Even if you fix this, if Dragonite gets burned and your opponent has SR up, you're still looking at getting 2HKOed by Thunderbolt. You're also very weak to Celebi outside of Dragonite, but even then it can just wear it down with Psychic or, if you're unlucky, Hidden Power Ice. Reuniclus can also be a problem since you can't OHKO it with Scrafty and it can Focus Blast you to hell instead. Starmie also can't keep up with Reuniclus since it can just Recover stall you until you miss after a Calm Mind.

I'd try out Latias over your Dragonite in order to patch up these problems. Latias with Calm Mind / Roar / Dragon Pulse / Roost is a pretty good replacement over Dragonite. It can counter Rotom-W with Roost and beat Celebi and Reuniclus in a Nasty Plot / Calm Mind war thanks to Roar as long as you use a 252 HP / 4 SpA / 252 Spe spread. It has almost identical resistances as Dragonite while patching up a lot of your weaknesses so I'd give it a whirl at least.

Even with Dragonite you have this really odd weakness to Volcarona. The thing is that your rain team has a lot of bulky members that slow down your momentum and give Drought teams the chance to set up the sun and bring their sweepers in. Ferrothorn and Gliscor are just asking for Volcarona to come in and start cleaning shit up. Most Volcarona Hidden Power Rock so they can blast their way past Dragonite, and the rest of your team doesn't really stand a chance either since nothing can really take a Bug Buzz. Your only hope is to bring in Politoed to get rain up, go to something else and let it die, then going to like Gliscor to try to get a hit in. You would honestly do well with Azumarill over Scrafty. Although three Water-types is a lot, you have a lot of Electric resists (especially if you add Latias). Aqua Jet is such an excellent utility move on Drizzle teams to handle not only Volcarona, but also sand sweepers like Landorus and Excadrill. If that doesn't work I guess you could try Specially Defensive Politoed, but it can't OHKO Volcarona after a Quiver Dance I doubt it'll stay around long enough to be of much use.

Very nice team! I have Gliscor and Scrafty (albeit with different movesets and purposes) on my primary team too, they rock! I also like the "Conkelderp" reference. ;D

On a more serious note, (apologies if you've already picked up on it, which you probably have) you have two 4x weaknesses to ice in Dragonite and Gliscor. I won't try to recommend any sort of replacement but your other Pkmn (apart from Ferrothorn) seem to be pretty frail to be relied on to stand up against Mamoswine's Ice Shard or opposing LO Starmie's Ice Beam while being able to fulfill their own roles.

Sorry for nitpicking but.. "and the invested Spd EV's allow me to outspeed most of his counters" - I'm pretty sure "Spe" is standard for Speed.

When playing against Rotom-W I just need to predict good and I can easily 2HKO him with ExtremeSpeed or OHKO with Draco Meteor after a few SR switch ins.Draco Meteor+ExtremeSpeed is the most effective variant against it.Celebi doesen't like getting Hurricaned or Ice Beamed on a predicted switch, but I'll try out Latias and see how will it fit.Reuniclus is not such a problem since Starmie or Politoed can deal serious damage with Hydro Pump and hope for a crit while he's recovering. And Volcarona is like, after switching into SR,KO'ed by ExtremeSpeed so it's not such a big threat, but thanks for the rates anyways I'll try your suggestions ;)

Hey man thanks for the rate firstly.Scrafty is a beast,I've tried different sets but this one turned out to be the best one for me.Considering Mamo,if he comes into D-Nite I can easily predict a Ice Shard and switch into Toad and KO with Hydro Pump, and Starmie is completely walled by Ferro so I just switch into him and T-Wave the incoming switch or Seed it.I know but I've exported it from PO Teambuilder and copy-pasted :P

Hi,

SD Toxicroak with Ice Punch is a huge problem for you since the pokemon on your team that can actually outspeed it either don't do enough, or are hit by Sucker Punch, which does a lot of damage to Starmie. Virizion, especially CM variants, can do a lot of damage and wear your team out. Stall can also be very troublesom since Starmie will be constantly switching in and out to take LO recoil and hazards. Using Recover on Starmie over Ice Beam will definitely help out with the issues presented above. As Iconic stated, there is a definite Reuniclus weakness, and I highly recommend using that Latias set over Scrafty. By making this change, using Spikes somewhere on Ferrothorn may be beneficial, as Latias + Roar is a great mid game supporter, racking up Entry Hazard damage, while also acting as a late game cleaner. Although I'm suggesting you remove your sweeper, it looks really out of place with the rest of your team, and is probably better off away than in your team.

Volcarona is also a problem, since Dragonite has no way to recover besides Leftovers, as Iconic mentioned, so I think a different Dragonite set is in line. With EVs of 224 HP / 252 SpA / 32 Spe, a Quiet nature and a moveset of Aqua Tail | Extremespeed | Hurricane | Roost. Hurricane is there to hit for confusion, and Roost will give you recovery. Good luck!
