Nidoking... One of my favorite pokemon since the beginning of time. Such a cool design if you ask me, but I digress lets get into the specifics shall we?

Amnesia
Weaknesses: Psychic, Ground, Water, Ice
Comment: Yea its weak to 3 particuarly popular types Ground, Water, and with Garchomp-fear-fever Ice. Not a great thing.
Resistances: Electric (Immune), Fighting, Rock, Poison (x4), Bug
Comment: Well It resists some popular movetypes as well... Most notable is the resistance to Rock which is always helpful with Stealth Rock projected to be all over the place.
OK I think the point is pretty clear that this things movepool is pretty extensive... Now for the hard part I guess...
Moveset 1
Nidoking@Choice Specs
Nature: Timid (Most likely, Modest could work)
EVs: 252 SA, 252 Speed
- Ice Beam
- Flamethrower
- Earth Power
- Focus Blast / Thunderbolt
I had Considered Dragon Pulse, but Since Earth Power + Flamethrower gets you full coverage mostly... I figure use Ice Beam instead to hit Dragons Harder... Focus Blast I guess was in response to trying to have something hit Tyranitar and Blissey at least for decent damage... Thunderbolt is if you want to get rid of Gyarados faster. I thought of this semi in response to the Choice Specs thread. Nidoking doesnt quite have the SA to really really dent things without Choice Specs SA wise I dont think tho.
Moveset 2:
Nidoking@Choice Band
Nature: Jolly
EVs: 252 Attack 252 Speed
- Earthquake
- Poison Jab / Focus Punch
- Stone Edge
- Megahorn / Sucker Punch
Yea I am terrible at this cant you tell? Pretty Much a Rhyperior copy for the most part I guess... I Have used Choice Banded Setups for Nidoking, they work fairly decently, but he gets in trouble against some other things that are faster than he is... Still, you can take out a lot tho... Out of Curiosity has anyone yet tried Sucker Punch on a Choice Banded Setup? (I would have guessed by now SOMEONE would have thought to try to abuse that...)
Considerations: Using Shed Skin Item to make sure you can switch out against Dugtrio which would be a problem for poor Nidoking... (Although I do wonder if Sucker Punch could OHKO Dugtrio with its poor defenses and low HP Base... someone needs to try that out)
Nidoking is sooo Cool, its probably still only a borderline pokemon, but at least it got better for this generation moderately, which is always a plus.
Discuss... (?)
