Ok I came up with this idea for a New Snorlax moveset. It has most likely been used by someone before but ive never seen it posted anywhere. Its acctually even being said that snorlax is dead in D/P. It would be cool to have a set named after yourself you know >_>.
Snorlax @ Choice Glasses ** StormLax
Trait: Thick Fat
EVs: 172 HP / 252 SAtk / 84 SDef
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk) / Quiet Nature (+SAtk, -Atk) (If using a physical move)
- Ice Beam
- Fire Blast
- Shadow Ball / Thunderbolt / Hidden Power Fighting / Focus Punch / Earthquake
- Surf / Return / Earthquake / Seldestruct
Yeah your thinking this wont be that useful but it is.It uses the element of surprise(The most Dangerous thing in D/P IMO) and can do alot of damage to things that would usually switch into Snorlax,OHKOing a few. Thick Fat with 504 Hp and some special defense allows it to switch into a few special attacks.
Return and Earthquake are physical moves there to lure out your "prey". Seldestruct can take out something after it has gotten a suprise kill and you can get rid of something that is stoping for from sweeping the the rest of the match. Any of the above moves are good options over surf as Rhyperior isnt that common and you might possibly have a bulky water for that.
Calculations
Ok I had to use Netbattles Damage Calculator since I couldnt find any for D/P but it works for what this would be used on. For Rhyperior and Tyranitar with the Sandstorm boost i multiplied their Defense by 1.5. Which is IIRC was the the number it went up by for their base power? I could be wrong if so then feel free not to bother with Tyranitars and Rhyperiors in Sandstorm calculations (I have calculations for Rhyperior without Sandstorm boost also)
Skarmory
Fire Blast on 196 HP Eved(320 HP),No SDef Skarmory: 369-434 Damage(100%)
Fire Blast on Max HP Eved(334 HP),Max SDef Eved Skarmory: 272-321 Damage(82%-96%)
Who uses Max HP and Special Defense Skarmory?
Flamethrower is an option over Fire Blast since it has a higher accuracy but it isnt Guaranteed a OHKO and your opponent will now know what to expect and can recover with roost or rest when given the chance,If given the chance.
Flamethrower on 196 HP Eved(320 HP),No SDef Skarmory: 293-344 Damage(92%-100%)
Metagross
Fire Blast on No HP and SDef Eved Metagross(CB Gross): 302-354 Damage(100%)
Metagross has 301 HP with no HP Evs so this will always OHKO.
Fire Blast on Max HP and No SDEf Eved Metagross: 302-354 Damage(83%-97%)
Guaranteed to survive the attack is there is no Spikes or Stealth Rock in play.
Fire Blast on Max HP and Max SDef Eved Metagross: 234-275 Damage(64-76%)
Again no one uses this but just incase its a 2HKO.
Dragons
Ice Beam OHKOs Salamence even if it has Max HP and SDef Evs: 401-471 Damage(100%)
Ice Beam on Max HP and SDef Eved Dragonite: 348-409 Damage(90%-100%)
I cant test it on Garchomp but it would most likely be close to Dragonite's since Garchomp has more HP but less SDef.
Of course all of them would die to One Ice Beam because no one uses Max SDef and Max HP on these Pokemon.
Rhyperior
Again cant test it on this so i used Rhydon. Help would be appreciated wth the exact numbers for this.
Surf on Max HP and SDef Rhydon: 547-642 Damge(100%)
Surf on Max HP and SDef Rhydon with Surf ticked as 2x Weakness instead of 4x: 273-321 Damage(66%-78%)
This was to compliment Rhyperiors Solid Rock. It is set as 2x so with 2.66 it would do more.
Max HP and SDef Rhydon with Sandstorm SDef boost(Ticked as 4x weakness): 272-320 Damage(66%-77%)
Max HP and SDef Rhydon with Sandstorm SDEf boost(Ticked as 2x weakness): 136-160 Damage(33%-39%)
Again im not positive but from what i heard the sandstorm boost is 1.5 in SDef. These are just numbers to help you know what surf would be doing between the 2x and 4x weakness as Rhyperior would have a 2.66 weakness. It is safe to say that it would be taking over 50% in one hit if your opponent doesnt have Max HP and SDef,which is almost never as it needs its def evs. The numbers would more be accurate for the 2x weakness as Rhyperiors stats are slightly higher than Rhydons. It is guaranteed a OHKO if there is no Sandstorm and Rhyperior is the standard Max HP and Max Def(Not Special Defense) Evs.
Tyranitar
Surf on No HP and No SDef Eved Tyranitar with Sandstorm SDef boost: 147-173 Damage(43%-51%)
Hidden Power Fighting on NO Hp and NO SDef Eved Tyrannitar with Sandstorm SDef boost: 219-257 Damage(64%-75%)
Gyarados and Gengar
The Shadow Ball and thunderbolt would be fillers. Gengar is OHKO by Shadow Ball and Gyarados is OHKOed by Thunderbolt.
Thunderbolt
Thunderbolt on Max HP no SDef Eved Suicune: 195-229 Damage(48%-57%)
2HKO unless it does minimum damage both times.
Thunderbolt on Max HP no SDef Eved Milotic: 181-213 Damage(46%-54%)
Depends on the minimum to maximum it could be a 2HKo to a 3HKO. Guaranteed 2HKO if there is Spikes or Stealth Rock in play.
Thunderbolt on Max HP no SDef Eved Manaphy: 219-258 Damage(54%-64%)
2HKOs. Most Manaphys are going to be special sweepers with Tail Glow and not much HP or SDef Evs so expect more damage usually.(Tested with Ice Beam on Celebi,Thunderbolt with the "2x" option still does the exact same amount of damage )
Shadow Ball
Here I wanted to test on Dusknoir but again no calculator with D/P pokes so help with this would also be appreciated.
Shadow Ball on Max HP no SDef Eved Dusclops: 148-174 Damage(52%-61%)
Tested on a Dusclops so on Dusknoir it would possibly be a 3HKO and a 2HKO if theres Spikes or Stealth Rock in play.
Weak things(SDefense Wise) that switch in on Snorlax are OHKOed by there respective moves(EX: Fire Blast OHKOs Heracross,Ice Beam OHKOs salamence and Garchomps, Gliscors ect.) Focus Punch 2HKOs Blissey and is useful once the opponent "thinks" He or she knows the moveset.
Thunderbolt,Hidden Power Fighting or Shadow Ball is the optional fillers on this set,but i would go with Thunderbolt as it covers more. If this becomes popular Snorlax will be uch more useful and versatile because this will most likely never be the standard snorlax as there is still curse, fireblast focuspunch,STalk ect. Not knowing which set to expect and switching into the wrong one could be dangerous.
Any help at all for the calculations in the sandstorm would be appreciated.
