Genre: Drama

Set in turn-of-the-century London, Alfred Borden (Christian Bale) is accused of the murder of Robert Angier (Hugh Jackman), a fellow magician. The story shows the development of this bitter rivalry between the two with some really unexpected twists and turns.

This movie personally, was pretty darn awesome. The way this film has been crafted together makes it absolutely outstanding. I haven't been so impressed by a film for a long long time.

The acting has been brilliant by all the actors. Hugh Jackman has been outstanding in this film, being able to show depth that roles like Van Helsing couldn't allow him. Christian Bale has been amazing being able to show great versatility and having probably the toughest character to play.

This film had me hooked from the first line, "Are you paying attention?". The magic aspect itself is very intriguing and capturing but the storyline and the twists and turns itself are very good.

It also manages to spark up a pretty good debate on a few aspects of the film if you have seen it.

Visual Effects - 8/10
Sound - 8/10
Screenplay - 10/10
Plot/Storyline - 8/10

Overall - 9/10

It'll really keep you interested till the last scene. Its sure to be something that you won't be predicting and will surprise you with some twist when you least expect it. The title itself refers to the third and most interesting part of a magic trick, "The Prestige".

I remember this and "The Illusionist" both came out at basically the same time and I wanted to see them both. I guess now I can start renting these and finally see them.

I really wanted to see this when it came out and never got a chance. Sounds like I should give it a shot!

I hated this movie. The twist is a piece of crap and when you look back you realize that it makes alot of the earlier bits make no sense.

It's very well made and has badass parts, but some parts are just so lame ("HOW CAN HE NOT KNOW!!!") and the twist made me really angry.

It hurts that Bale was in this because he's probabaly my fave actor.

Honestly check it out if your interested though. I'm only posting this to see if anyone else agrees. All over the place I hear about how great this movie is but it just ticked me off.

Oh? What parts are these then? I really thought about everything in the movie and in the end was able to come up with a theory that basically justified everything.

Also, The Illusionist is also quite nice (thanks to Aeolus for suggesting that one). You should really check it out sometime.

Of the two magician movies released at the time, The Illusionist was better, but that still doesn't mean that The Prestiege wasn't great.

I heavily reccomend both(althought The Illusionist is better, by a bit).

I also liked The Illusionist better...mainly because I figured this movie out like halfway through and it kinda ruined the mystery. It's a great movie though...I'd say one of the best of the past few years.

I watched The Illusionist but not The Prestige. I really loved the twist in the tail in The Illusionist. I'll also watch The Prestige, to see which is better.

i bought both back then, i already watched the illusionist though but not the prestige. it's a good mind-puzzling movie all around. i love the scene when they show the secret of the orange tree lol. :)
