First (Competitive) Team

Yo guys, this is my first team I decided to post on here to see what you guys think. Basically it's a bunch of random Pokemon I threw together, but hey, it's my first "competitive" team. So yeah, tell me what to improve on, etc.

serperior.png

Cory (Serperior) @ Light Clay
Trait: Contrary
EV's: 252 SAtk / 252 Spd / 4 HP
Timid
- Glare
- Reflect
- Light Screen
- Leaf Storm

So Serperior is my lead for this team. With his excellent speed and decent bulk, he seems like a solid dual screen user. His speed usually grants use of one of the screens depending on the opponent's predicted attack. Leaf Storm is basically sex with Contrary, sharply raising special attack after each use. Glare can be used to cripple the enemy before Cory goes down.

SwagQueenIX (Nidoqueen) @ Life Orb
Trait: Sheer Force
EV's: 252 SAtk / 252 Spd / 4 HP
Timid
- Ice Beam
- Fire Blast
- Thunderbolt
- Earth Power

Nidoqueen is an all-around solid Pokemon. Somewhat bulky and fast, with Sheer Force makes her reliable with excellent move coverage. With the speed EV's, Nidoqueen can outspeed a good amount of enemies and have great move coverage for a usual super effective hit. Earth Power for a good STAB.

Pam (Gyarados) @ Leftovers
Trait: Intimidate
EV's: 252 Atk / 252 Spd / 4 Def
Adamant
- Ice Fang
- Dragon Dance
- Earthquake
- Waterfall

One of my favorite physical sweepers. With Intimidate, switching in can cause a switch out for a free Dragon Dance, and with his good bulk and Intimidate can almost guarantee that he can take a hit. Ice Fang and Earthquake gives good coverage while Waterfall is the main attack with STAB. Leftovers gradually gives back HP if I can pull off a sweep of some sort.

212_scizor_front_norm.png

Bradley (Scizor) @ Focus Sash
Trait: Technician
EV's: 252 Atk / 252 Def / 4 SDef
Adamant
- Bullet Punch
- Swords Dance
- Brick Break
- X-Scissor

Another potential sweeper, and an all-around good Pokemon to have on any team. Bullet Punch can be used to revenge kill, and after one Swords Dance he can be very deadly. Focus sash is used to guarantee a Swords Dance. Brick Break for coverage, and X-Scissor for STAB and Grass, Psychic, and Dark coverage.

Spencer (Starmie) @ Life Orb
Trait: Natural Cure
EV's: 252 Spd / 252 SAtk / 4 HP
Timid
- Rapid Spin
- Thunderbolt
- Surf
- Ice Beam

Starmie is always nice to have. Excellent speed and good special attack is used to revenge kill, or maybe even lead with. Rapid spin is there to rid the field of any entry hazards, TBolt and IBeam for coverage, and Surf for STAB.

Trevor (Dragonite) @ Leftovers
Trait: Multiscale
EV's: 252 Atk / 252 Spd / 4 HP
Jolly
- Dragon Claw
- Dragon Dance
- Thunder Wave
- Roost

Dragonite is the ultimate OG dragon: awesome attack, good bulk, and even decent speed. Multiscale makes him capable of taking 99% of any move that can be thrown at him. With Roost and Leftovers, regaining health is a piece of cake, definitely after a Dragon Dance. Thunder Wave is very useful to cripple, and Dragon Claw for STAB. Setting up is easier than ever with Multiscale and can make him sweep after that.

TELL ME WHAT YOU THINK:jump::jump::jump::jump::jump::jump::jump:

Regarding dragonite, skarmory walls the crap out of this set no matter what, as with almost every steel type..keeping that in mind consider dropping twave for fire punch for added coverage. Also keep in mind that very powerful SE hits can KO through multiscale. Ex: +1 Outrage from Haxorus for sure OHKOs dnite. An ideal set..

Dragonite @ Leftovers
Adamant 252 HP/ 212 Spd/ 44 Atk
-Dragon Dance
-Dragon Claw
-Fire Punch
-Roost

Same set as Dragonite's bulky dd set from his BW page, if you don't care about the speed as much, then you can move the speed evs into attack or into more bulk, but the EVs in Speed are to outspeed scarf toed after a ddance, so it can't wreak havoc with ice beam.

Additionally, I see a weakness to Thundurus. Which can be alleviated by a scarf pokemon or faster pokemon abled to KO him. Although it may seem odd, a standard choice specs Jolteon could work wonders for you. It can absorb a predicted tbolt from Thundurus and threaten with HP ice or just volt switch out for switch advantage.

Jolteon @ Choice Specs
Timid 252 SpA/252 Spd/4 HP
-Thunderbolt
-Volt Switch
-HP Ice
-Shadow Ball

I see Jolteon replacing your Nidoqueen, give it a try. Alternatively a Raikou set that is the same could do this job as well but with more power and less speed, but still outspeed Thundurus. Make sure that if you choose Raikou that you still use Volt Absorb. Of course, its not just there for Thundurus, it also takes on water types and flying types especially Skarmory and Gliscor with thunderbolt and HP Ice respectively. One more thing I see immediately is that you're using X-Scissor on Scizor, use bug bite instead so you can get the technician boost in which gives an additional 10 BP, plus you can get rid of opponents' berries that could prove to be a nuisance. Hope this helps

If you're using Nidoqueen Superpower is a viable option. For Scizor use Bug Bite over X-Scissor since it technically does more damage with Technician. Change Swords Dance to Pursuit and use Choice Band. Bulky SD kinda sucks. RestTalkDD Gyarados is probably better than your Gyarados set.

Your team is pretty decent; with a few tweaks it will be better.

1) as said before bug bite on scizor is a must. choice band isn't a must. I use leftovers and sword dance, if you can predict well or force a switch a setup swords dance is worth gold.

2) there are better screeners than serperior, but i see why you like it. As a lead i'm not sure about it. will test that.

3) as for dragonite use this:

Dragonite (M) @ Lum Berry
Trait: Multiscale
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Dragon Dance
- Outrage
- ExtremeSpeed
- Fire Punch

you really need extremespeed, it's a must. With this set you can fool alot of people; they will think that u use choice band and probably swith a steel-type in -> hello fire punch.

Agreeing with sha regarding the Dragonite set.You should replace Nidoqueen with Nidoking. It's faster and has a higher Spa with the same ability and coverage. Also change Scizor's item to LO or Leftovers.I think you should give Scizor. 252 evs in Hp,252 in Spdef and an Adamant nature. This will help it set up on Latios and Kill Hp fire Celebi. Also change it's moveset to Bullet Punch,Bug Bite,Swords Dance and Roost.I think Moxie would be better for Gyarados considering the fact that you're aiming to use it offensively.GL!
