Plusle and Minun want some love

Happy_plusle_and_minun.jpg

According to the discussion index there hasn't been a discussion on these Pikachu Rabbits, so here goes.

Plusle
Trait: Plus. SAtk is multiplied by 1.5x when teamed with Minun.
Base Stats: 60 HP / 50 Atk / 40 Def / 85 SAtk / 75 SDef / 95 Speed

Minun
Trait: Minus. SAtk is multiplied by 1.5x when teamed with Plusle.
Base Stats: 60 HP / 50 Atk / 40 Def / 75 SAtk / 85 SDef / 95 Speed

Since these two Pokémon share essentially the same move-pool, I won't bother listing it twice.

Physical Move-pool:
Spark
Quick Attack
Iron Tail
Return

In summary: lol no.

Special Move-pool:
Thunderbolt
Thunder
Charge Beam
Grass Knot
Trump Card (Minun only)
Hidden Power

In summary: Shallow but bearable.

Support Move-pool:
Baton Pass
Nasty Plot
Agility
Charge
Encore
Fake Tears (Plusle only)
Charm (Minun only)
Thunder Wave
Toxic
Protect
Substitute
Wish
Sing
Sweet Kiss
Helping Hand
Rain Dance

In summary: This is where the good stuff is at.

Okay, let's get it out the way. Everyone knows these twins are definitely going to be sitting in UU/NU, so let's just pretend guys like Salamence, Blissey and Garchomp don't exist.

The twins haven't changed much since RSE but there has been one big change: Nasty Plot. Nasty Plot + Baton Pass is pretty sweet, and after a Nasty Plot the twins can actually consider KOing something.

Plusle/Minun @ Leftovers / Life Orb
Trait: Plus/Minus
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Spd / 252 SAtk
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Thunderbolt
- Nasty Plot
- Baton Pass
- Encore / Substitute / Grass Knot

Quite an obvious set. Nasty Plot and BP away. Encore is pretty sexy, since Plusle is fast enough to switch in on something stat-boosting and Encore it, giving it a free set-up. Sub blocks statuses and is nice, Grass Knot gives it another attack. Lefties is meh but nice, Life Orb makes TBolts hit harder. Other item options include Lum/Petaya/Salac and other random goodies.

Plusle/Minun @ Life Orb
Trait: Plus/Minus
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Spd / 252 SAtk
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Thunderbolt
- Nasty Plot
- Grass Knot
- Hidden Power [Ice] / Encore / Substitute

because you can't be a Pikachu wannabe without a set like this.

Right, so like I said. These twins aren't going to be in OU/Standard ever and we all know it, but Nasty Plot passing is pretty sexy in UU/NU.

In double battles, both of them with the same Nasty Plot / Baton Pass set could wreck teams. With the basically STAB effect with their trait, a Nasty Plotted TBolt from both would RAPE.

Hm... They might make UU because of the awesome passing abilities. I would run Encore on that set because of it's awesomeness. but they don't have an immunity, so it might not get much use. They would be a really fun PBR double lead Minun with the passing set and Plusle with the sweeping one. 95 Speed Timid outspeeds most of the metagame.

Completely outclassed by Light Ball Pikachu, so their place is in NU

Nasty Plot + T.Bolt and Grass Rope works great, but Pikachu can do the same but better :P

If by "rape teams" you mean "die the first turn to an Earthquake", sure. Don't bother trying to use these outside of NU unless you're going for some sort of gimmick team.

These could remain what they were in advance NU, which was decent sweepers. The addition of Nasty Plot obviously helps quite a bit...I don't think they'll work so well in 2v2 NU however.

Give them Endure and Salac Berries to deal with EQ.

Obviously, don't try this during Sandstorm\Hail.

In Advance, I regularly battled a guy who used these on his 2v2 Rain Dance team. Let me tell you, now that they have Grass Knot, they're a force to be reckoned with. Most things that can KO them with Earthquake are KOed by a Helping-Handed, Plus-Minus Thunder (non-Ground-types like Gyarados) or a Helping-Handed, Plus-Minus Grass Knot (Ground-types like Rhyperior).

They can usually only take out one Pokémon at a time, but if the other one that's out can't KO one of them, the damage can stack up really fast.

These can pass both Agility and Nasty Plot. I believe no other Pokemon can do this. So I'd only use one of them (probably Minun) if I somehow need to do that, which is probably never.

They were designed with 2vs2 in mind, obviously. Don't bother using them in 1vs1.

Plusle and Minun are actually a force to be reckoned with in 2vs2. Don't underestimate them.

I hope theyll be in NU, because Id rather them be one of the best NUs, than one of the worst UUs.

Nasty Plot and Baton Pass are pretty cool though.

Plusle was a pretty good cleaner in Advance NU. As I said before, with the addition of Nasty Plot he will likely remain that way.
