DP Research Thread #1 ("Old")

I've read on nintendo's player guide that Shoal Salt recovers a small amount of HP each turn.

I don't know if it already worked that way or how much HP it recovers per turn.

Could someone test this out?

Yesterday, I've uploaded 2 Togetics on Diamond ; one had Hustle and the other had Serene Grace. They've kept their abilities when evolved from Togepis in ADV. Pal parking them didn't affect their abilities, but upon evolving, both Togetics have switched to their alternative abilities. Is it possible that DP somehow inverts the range number for choosing which ability a foreign, non Sinnoh monster has after evolving?

Yeah, it seems that Pal Park randomizes ability value data for every Pokemon received, but doesnt change the ability itself unless the Pokemon evolves. Its their way of getting new abilities on old gen Pokemon with tutor moves from back then I guess. Some of us speculate that you can clone a Pokemon like Zigzagoon in Emerald and send the 6 clones and each clone would have an equal chance of either keeping their ability or getting their new one when evolving, but it requires testing...

About the Pursuit thing, I think it makes more sense. Maybe Weavile didnt need the hit, but Ttar sure did. I just wonder which way Competitor will go about this?

Well I traded a rhydon with rock head, and, low and behold, it became solid rock rhyperior. I will test this with porygon and such later though.

Can anyone confirm this?

Somebody I talked to mentioned that Wake Up Slap apparentally hits pokemon during the 'invincible' turn of Fly.

No, that was probably because something in the Machop family was using it.

Chances are that person was using a No Guard Machamp. With No Guard all moves hit, even through Fly.

Competitor will be completely faithful to the English version of Diamond/Pearl.

Could someone possibly test what happens when an American version of DP wifi battles a Japanese version and uses Pursuit? I'm quite curious there.

In a Wireless battle, English version takes precedence. If you use Pursuit with a CB, you're stuck with Pursuit even if your opponent switches. I can't be certain this applies to Wi-Fi, but I can't see why it wouldn't.

It could possibly depend on the challenger and the challenged, or player 1 and player 2

Competitor will be completely faithful to the English version of Diamond/Pearl.
.
Shouldn't there be an option on Competitor of a Japanese Pursuit?

About the Hypnosis minimum duration:

Turn #1
Purugly used Hypnosis!
Empoleon fell asleep!
Empoleon is fast asleep.
Turn #2
Purugly used Slash!
It's not very effective...
Empoleon wake up!

And this was a Pal Park Pokemon? Because if so, then I must have terrible luck. All of my Pal Parked Rhydons with Rock Head have become Lighting Rod Rhyperiors. Of course, if it was Pal Parked, then all traits gained in evolution must be random as was originally thought.

Hey, maybe my amazing Adamant LR Rhyhorn might actually be useful! Were those multiple Pal Parked Rhydons different Pokemon or were they clones of one another?

If the ability can change, the next thing we need to find out is whether the final ability is predetermined upon hatching or if it's decided at the time of the transfer.

I didn't do a through job testing it, but in a wireless battle between an English and Japanse game, sleep's minimum is 2 turns again.

EDIT: I deleted the post as it was taking up space...

Dammit, I knew I was missing something!

None of the sites ever mentioned that, they always said that "it will wear off and then the Pokemon will be immune", which sounds like its effects come off too, REALLY misleading...

If Zoom Lens' english description is incorrect, and the Japanese "move second and get an accuracy boost" is incorrect, do we know yet how it actually works? Team Rocket Elite made a post on the first page saying that his Heracross who went first hit 30 Megahorns in a row, so could it actually be that it boosts accuracy if you go first in a turn?

There might be an error in my test with Heracross. I was using items to heal the Pokemon that was being targeted by Megahorn. Since the item goes first, that might have caused Zoom Lens to activate.

I cannot believe I hadn't thought of this before. The Rhydons were clones! I need to Pal Park over a new Rhydon to test this theory again.
