Dialga

[SET]
name : baton pass receiver
move 1 : Dragon Pulse
move 2 : Brick Break
move 3 : Thunderbolt
move 4 : Flamethrower
item : Life Orb
nature : Naughty
evs : 204 Atk / 156 SpA / 148 Spe

Why this set deserves to be on site:

  • Best mixed sweeper in Ubers with zero counters at +2/+2.
  • Resists common priority attacks, namely Extremspeed,Shadow Sneak and Bullet Punch, which is vital for a sweeper
  • Has great resistances and physical bulk which enable him to take a hit if needed when baton passing the boosts to him
  • Does not care about T-Spikes which is great for a baton pass receiver

Additional comments:

  • Life Orb is vital to this set as it enables a lot of kos and is the only possible item.
  • This set is obviously designed to sweep with +2 boosts in attack,s.attack and speed. The easiest way to achieve this is from a shell smash passer, and the hardest way is from an entire batton pass chain.
  • The attack evs are enough to ohko ubers Bold Chansey after SR at +2 with Brick Break, while the speed evs allow Dialga to outspeed everything up to ScarfChomp at +2.Rest are dumped to SpA but they are also vital 'cause they achieve many ohkoes.
  • Entry hazard support is vital to this set success,as with 1 layer of Spikes and SR absolutely nothing can survive its attacks!
  • An alternative spread of 96 Atk / 236 SpA / 176 Spe,with a Rash nature, can be used with a moveset of Outrage,Dragon Pulse,Aura Shere and Thunder/Thunderbolt.The attack evs are to ohko standart ubers Bold Chansey after SR at +2 and the speed evs are just enough to outspeed scarf Terakion at +2.
Here are some calcs to understand this set's power(the main set is used for all calcs and Dialga is at +2/+2):

-Tbolt vs Lugia(the Great Wall) : 364 - 430 (87.50% - 103.37%)(ohko with SR)

-Tbolt vs 252 HP Kyogre : 420 - 496 (103.96% - 122.77%)(ohko)

-Brick Break vs 252 HP Dialga : 374 - 442 (92.57% - 109.41%)(ohko with 1 layer of Spikes, 92,31% chance to ohko with SR)

-Brick Break vs 132 HP Normal Arceus : 374 - 442 (90.34% - 106.76%)(ohko with SR)

-Dragon Pulse vs 252 HP Arceus(except Dragon which obviously gets ohkoed) : 342 - 403 (77.03% - 90.77%)(ohko with SR and Spikes)

-Flamethrower vs Support Grass Arceus : 424 - 500 (95.50% - 112.61%)(ohko with SR)

-Flamethrower vs 252 HP Groudon : 460 - 543 (113.86% - 134.41%)(ohko)

Also here are some calcs that show how this Dialga takes the common priority attacks in Ubers(all calcs assume that Dialga is at -1):

-ES from LO max attack Adamant Normal Arceus : 113 - 133 (33.14% - 39.00%)

-Shadow Sneak from max attack positive natured Giratina-0 : 51 - 61 (14.96% - 17.89%)

-Bullet Punch from CB Adamant 56 Atk Scizor : 89 - 105 (26.10% - 30.79%)

Teammates & Counters:

  • Shell Smash Smeargle is the best teammate for Dialga and is absolutely necessary in order for Dialga to function properly, except if you want to build a dedicated baton pass team.
  • Other Shell Smash passers like Gorebyss and Huntail are also good partners but they lack the invaluable Spore,so Dialga will have to watch out as he receives the boosts.
  • If you are running the second spread with Thunder,Kyogre is a very good partner to esnure that it will hit,so that opposing Lugia cannot screw you.Kyogre can also deal destroy the only poke that can take a hit from this Dialga which is S.Defensive Jirachi in rain.
  • Deoxys-S is also a perfect partner to this Dialga as it needs SR and 1 layer of Spikes to secure some ohkos.
  • As mentioned before the only poke capable of taking one hit from this Dialga is S.Defensive Jirachi.
  • Scarf Darkrai,Scarf Mewtwo and Scarf Shaymin-S can all outspeed Dialga and ohko him at -1,but fortunately they are rare!
  • If sand is up Excadrill outspeeds you and ohkoes with EQ.
  • Finally you should always be careful of phazers when trying to pass to Dialga.Restalkers that can phaze,Giratina and Dialga in particular, can be problematic since they can phaze you even if you put them to sleep with Spore so you should watch out.

I think you invest WAY too much EV in that Brick Break.

Calm is the prefered nature for Chansey in Ubers, the blob really needs all the special defense it can get for Specs Kyogre encounters. Also most Chansey have Toxic over Thunder-Wave (if you look at the analysis on site, TWave only gets a OO mention), so even if it survives a hit, chances are it can not touch Dialga.

You should use a 80 Atk - 252 SpA - 176 Spe EV spread with a Rash nature.

176 speed EV because Terrakion is a relevant Scarfer. Max special attack because it's your only way to OHKO 252 HP Arceus after Stealth Rock with Dragon Pulse, which is much more common than Chansey. 80 Atk EV are enough to OHKO Heatran after Stealth Rock and Calm Chansey after SR + 1 Layer of Spikes.

Maybe you should mention somewhere Calcs of common priority moves on this Dialga at -1, since I suppose you use Focus Sash Smeargle for the pass.

Thx for the suggestions but Brick Break does more than just hitting Chansey...
Take Dialga for example which always dies after Spikes and has a very big chance to get kod after SR.
Also with my spread the most common Arceus, extremekiller always dies after SR.
And any other Arceus gets kod after SR and Spikes so it is fine.

Also with your spread Bold Chansey has a chance of not getting ohkoed even with Spikes and SR which i don't want to risk. Also if you take into consideration the fact that Chansey is usually seen in stall teams, this means that they will also have a spinner, and keeping my hazards up might not be so easy...
And if Chansey survives the first hit that means i am losing 134 more damage(100 from Seismic Toss and 34 from the LO recoil of the second hit) than if i ohkoed her, which is also big if you want to sweep through a team.

In the other hand Arceus-Ghost(i mention him because it is the more common poke that gets ohkoed with only 1 hazard with your spread while with my spread it needs 2 layers) can be seen not only in stall teams(which prefer Giratina from my experience)but in balanced and offensive team also, which many times lack a spinner and thus i can keep my hazards up more easily.
Also with your spread max HP/max S.Def Dialga needs both hazards to get ohkoed.I know that with my spread Arceus-Ghost will need both hazards to be ohkoed but the problem is that Dialga is way more common than Arceus-Ghost so i prefer needing to have setup 2 hazards against the rarer threat than the more common one.

Now if we change your spread to 124 Atk/208 SpA/176 Spe then Chnasey will get ohkoed 100% of the time with both hazards up.But now specially defensive Dialga has a chance to survive with both hazards up...I don't know man.I will try your sets and tell you ok?

And i will add some calcs for priority moves, thx for the suggestion!
Finally with the spread you suggested max HP/max S.Def Dialga has a chance of not getting ohkoed after SR and Spikes which is a bad thing.

We already have a Mixed Dialga onsite though, surprisingly it does not mention Baton Pass. TBH, I think instead of adding an entirely new set, it would be better to just add a paragraph describing Dialga as a Baton Pass reciever in AC. Waiting for QC members to chime in.

The thing is, barry, that the EV spread should be noted as well because it's specially designed for receiving a Shell Smash.

Generally, unless a Pokemon is absolutely perfect for receiving a Baton Passed boost, we do not note any particular Baton Pass recipient sets. Aside from that, we can simply modify the current mixed Dialga set onsite.
