So yeah, this team may look like another lame Rain Dance team, but hey, give me some credit! I actually made this team during the Abomasnow era, and I struggled for a while. And then the best piece of news happened: Abomasnow got banned! Yay!

Now for the original shit that I really don't care about:

One day I just happened to be sifting through my old teams when I found one that was centred around Rain Dance sweeping and a bunch of supporters, this was the original (which I haven't touched since... maybe when Hippowdon was still around?)

Yup, really random. I decided to just go ahead and say: screw this team, it looks terrible, I'm revamping it! Blastoise, Alakazam, Sableye and Empoleon all immediately got the sack, and I pretty much decided for fits and giggles to run Tornadus + 5 Swift Swimmers. And the 4 new replacements are...

It wasn't after a few battles that I realised: my team had quite the weakness to Electric attacks. Neutrality to attacks don't really do much for Kingdra and Ludicolo, so I swapped Kabutops for Specs Jolteon.

Jolteon was interesting, but my team had problems getting past Chansey, so I decided to try out Specs Manectric. Still the same concept as Jolteon, providing an Electric immunity to the table, but with Switcheroo to completely fuck all over Chansey.

310.gif

Manectric worked to some extent but he pretty much pissed me off because he failed to secure the KOs that I needed and generally I'm a terrible player so I don't really have the prediction skills to pull off a successful Switcheroo against Chansey. Or maybe I wasn't ballsy enough. Whatever. I decided Manectric just wasn't right for me and I swapped back to Jolteon.

It had been a while afterwards but then prem went on PO and was talking about Pokemon Showdown and even posted the link to PS (if you are reading this prem a big shout out to you for posting that PS link :) I went on PS for a while and did a bit of laddering, even topping the UU ladder at one point (ok that was funny, because the ladder had only 12 people in it :P). I decided that Kingdra was just too much: I had been running a mixed set with Rain Dance/Draco Meteor/Waterfall/Ice Beam and its a matter of "i just can't get it right", plus everyone was using Chansey anyway. So it was like "oh fuck it, everyone runs rain dance with Kingdra, let's try NOT to run rain dance with Kingdra :DDD"

With that, Kabutops makes his grand return. During a battle, Kabutops and Omastar pretty much smashed a team by themselves, in which I coined the term 'Fossils Attack!'. And well, it stayed XD.

Abomasnow literally got banned a day after I changed to Kabutops, but eh :/

Qwilfish also kept dying so I decided to try out Roserade, for Spikes as well as a Grass type resist (yes I know Qwilfish gets Spikes but eh Roserade is pretty cool in her own right plus I need the Grass resist)
On to the team!

641.gif

Tornadus (M) @ Damp Rock
Trait: Prankster
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)

- Rain Dance
- Taunt
- Hurricane
- Focus Blast

Tornadus is usually my lead (when I say usual, I mean 99% of the time). Depending on the lead I usually Taunt or Rain Dance. Tornadus usually dies after like 3 turns into the match, but after rain is up he basically spams Hurricane like a boss. :pimp: I'm not really so sure about Modest or Timid here but generally, I don't care. If Tornadus leads (as I said, 99% of the time), he dies very quickly. While I wreck as much havoc as I can. Focus Blast is mostly filler (and because I don't know what else to run on Tornadus, I generally prefer him dying off quickly so I can bring in Omastar/Ludicolo/Kabutops and start smashing things up)

135.gif

Jolteon (M) @ Choice Specs --> Expert Belt
Trait: Volt Absorb
EVs: 252 SAtk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)

- Volt Switch
- Thunder
- Shadow Ball
- Hidden Power [Ice]

Jolteon is one of the most crucial members of my team, bringing an Electric immunity to the table (this is important when 2 of your sweepers are weak to Electric). Jolteon can come in on choiced Electric attacks and scare them off. Earlygame, many people expect Jolteon to just Volt Switch immediately and send in their ground types, only to find their Flygon being smacked by a HP Ice to the face. Jolteon can also work as a great lategame sweeper, and if rain is still up he can spam ridiculously powerful Thunders. I haven't gotten much parahax with Thunder, but more of misshax (when rain isn't up). Shadow Ball is there as a way of beating Deoxys-D (plus it's arguably his best option for coverage, unless you want lolsignalbeam)

139.gif

Omastar (M) @ White Herb
Trait: Swift Swim
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)

- Shell Smash
- Hydro Pump
- Ice Beam
- Hidden Power [Grass]

Recently, you might have found me around on either PO, PS or the forums stating how awesome Omastar is. And no, I don't lie. Omastar really is that good. I usually start off immediately by a smash, and if rain is still up Omastar nets a ridiculous 800+ speed and has 700+ special attack, allowing him to easily 1-2HKO the entire metagame (except for bitcheggs Chansey), without spikes up. Hydro Pump is the obligatory STAB move, hitting Explosion-level power levels (I'd even say its OVER 9000 myself). Generally, if I play Omastar right, he can nab 2 KOs in a match. And the best part? Nobody, and I say, nobody, expects Omastar. Omastar can stomach an entire bunch of priority attacks and get a smash off. Omastar has a massive 100+ base defense, allowing him to essentially be a mini-Cloyster: take a physical/resisted choiced special attack, smash, outrun, rape. Omastar is usually the MVP of most of my battles and its funny to see people completely underestimate his ridiculous defense. I'm considering running Timid to outrun Scarf Darmanitan at +2, but I'm not sure if its worth it. The other thought right now is to change Hydro Pump to Surf, which allows me to fix my nonsense 80% misshax bullshit.

272.gif

Ludicolo (M) @ Damp Rock
Trait: Swift Swim
EVs: 8 HP / 252 SAtk / 248 Spd
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)

- Rain Dance
- Ice Beam
- Surf
- Giga Drain

Ludicolo is a pretty cool customer to be honest. His main business is to come in, rape as much as possible, setup rain if its down, continue raping. Surf and Giga Drain are great STABs and Ice Beam is excellent coverage. He generally ends up as my usual midgame sweeper, breaking through as much stuff as possible. I'm considering running Life Orb, but the extra 3 turns of rain granted by Damp Rock have proven to be useful so far.

141.gif

Kabutops (M) @ Damp Rock --> Life Orb
Trait: Swift Swim
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)

- Rain Dance --> Swords Dance
- Waterfall
- Stone Edge
- Knock Off --> Stealth Rock

No, you weren't going bonkers when you saw that last slot. Instead of running Swords Dance I'm running fucking Knock Off, of all things? Yup, Knock Off is there. I rarely use it as Kabutops already smashes a lot of stuff, but Knock Off is really cool for beating Chansey. Rain Dance allows me to continue the rain party, and with Kabutops's decent 80 Speed this isn't that hard to pull off. Stone Edge and Waterfall are pretty obligatory STAB moves. Even without setup, Kabutops has excellent Attack and can wallbreak to pave the way for an Omastar sweep (or sometimes, the other way round, Omastar paving for Ludicolo/Kabutops sweeps).

407.gif

Roserade (M) @ Damp Rock
Trait: Natural Cure
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)

- Spikes
- Rain Dance
- Giga Drain
- Weather Ball

Roserade provides vital Spikes support and a vital Grass resist, which is pretty important imo considering Tornadus just dies after earlygame. Rain Dance allows Roserade to be a Rain Dance supporter, and Giga Drain is an obligatory STAB attack as well as Roserade's form of recovery (because I couldn't run Leaf Storm with Spikes >.>) I was testing out Weather Ball over Sludge Bomb, when I ran into this situation in which WB probably saved me:
Start of turn 3
Omastar used Shell Smash!
Omastar's Defense fell!
Omastar's Sp. Def. fell!
Omastar's Attack sharply rose!
Omastar's Sp. Att. sharply rose!
Omastar's Speed sharply rose!
Omastar restored its stats using White Herb!

The foe's Dusknoir used Sunny Day!
The sunlight turned harsh!

The sunlight is strong!

Start of turn 4
Omastar used Ice Beam!
The foe's Dusknoir lost 56% of its health!
The foe's Dusknoir fainted!

The sunlight is strong!
Dopamine sent out Sawsbuck!

Start of turn 5
The foe's Sawsbuck used Horn Leech!
It's super effective!
A critical hit!
Omastar lost 282 HP! (100% of its health)
Omastar fainted!
Omastar had its energy drained!
The foe's Sawsbuck is hurt by its Life Orb!

The sunlight is strong!
TM16LightScreen_8 sent out Roserade!

Start of turn 6
The foe's Sawsbuck used Swords Dance!
The foe's Sawsbuck's Attack sharply rose!

Roserade used Weather Ball!
It's super effective!
The foe's Sawsbuck lost 90% of its health!
The foe's Sawsbuck fainted!

Rate away guys =)

this is an excellent Rain Dance team. Finally somebody else who realizes just how awesome Omastar is (dude try it in Ubers with perma rain :D)

I just have one suggestion, ignore it if you wish. Just how often are you using HP Grass on Omastar? I assume it's for other water-types, but Rain boosted Hydro Pumps are gonna hurt them anyway, but above all you have Ludicolo and Roserade to deal with them. Therefore I recommend throwing Stealth Rock onto Omastar, a support option similar to kabutops. the entry hazard helps gain more KOs, and omastar can come in on some weak shit like victini or darmanitan under the rain and throw up a quick SR

Also, not to sound like an ass, but Sludge Bomb would have done the same think Weather Ball did in that log lol. Sawsbuck is weak to Poison

Actually, I do use HP Grass quite often, considering that once Omastar is in I rarely switch him out until he dies. Besides, rain isn't up as often as I want, and the 80% accuracy hurts (Hydro Pump doesn't even have an accuracy boost in rain, this is blasphemy :( )

although lol good point on the sludge bomb weather ball thing, the thing is that Weather Ball is boosted by rain so its more powerful than STAB sludge bomb + I can smack around steels that pop in (hi registeel) expecting to comfortably tank a Sludge Bomb.

PS Omastar is awesome the #69 in usage is not justifying his sheer epicness :D

If possible, can someone help me out in finding a way to not make Tornadus die in the first few turns D: Prankster RD is really useful but it sucks that he usually ends up rolling over after a few turns :(

Great team and I have vsd something similar on the ladder using my stall team. The problems I noticed is that despite having Knock Off for Chansey, you can't do much to the other tanks in a good stall team eg. Slowbro and Miltoic who both combined with Chansey stop your whole team short. I suggest making Kabutops into a full on sweeper with SD since you just lack the power to break through well made stall teams (the opponent was using Kingdra / Kabutops / Ludiocolo offensive core, yet it couldnt get past my Chansey / haze Milotic / Roserade core). Great team nevertheless.

Kabutops@Life Orb / leftovers
-Aqua Jet
-Swords Dance

Thanks, I'll definitely consider Swords Dance on Kabutops. I might also change his item to Life Orb. It's just that the last time I tried Kabutops he was really underwhelming (I think I was using him wrong but +2 Low Kick 3HKOed Chansey which pretty much pissed me off). Slowbro usually ends up being death fodder for Omastar iirc (the most common Slowbro gets raped by a +2 HP Grass after 1 layer of spikes). Milotic is 2HKO'd by HP Grass which is a problem because she can come in after something dies and then Dragon Tail/Haze me.

apologies for x2 post but this post is reserved for threatlists

extreme shit in red not so bad shit in orange slight shit in bold

Offensive

142.png
-Aerodactyl Rare and he's OHKO'd by Ludicolo's Surf and Kabutops Waterfall anyway. He might be a problem outside of rain though, EQ iirc KOs Jolteon and my Roserade doesn't run Sleep Powder (once again FUCK SPIKES).
065.png
-Alakazam Kabutops owns him in rain. Except for the Sash versions. Which becomes 2HKOs. Outside of rain, Jolteon outspeeds and KOs with Shadow Ball.
424.png
-Ambipom The biggest piece of setup fodder for Omastar, everytime I see this I smile :) They usually Fake Out almost immediately which Omastar can come in on, tank the hit, smash and rape.
059.png
-Arcanine His main stab is neutered by rain anyways and I have 2 x4 fire resists. Wild Charge/Close Combat can be problematic though.
482.png
-Azelf Again, a major threat outside of rain, but Azelf is slower than Jolteon meaning that I can KO him with Shadow Ball. If Jolteon is dead though, :/ Ludicolo might be able to live a Psychic and get a clutch rain dance off.
184.png
-Azumarill Annoying under rain but he needs Aqua Jet to outrun my Swift Swimmers. IIRC he can shrug a +2 HP Grass and KO Omastar back with Superpower. :(
625.png
-Bisharp Can get annoying with Sucker Punch. Really annoying. >:( He's one of the few users of priority that beats Omastar. >.> Downgraded as a threat as he can't Sucker Punch Omastar while he sets up. Still, Sucker Punch is really annoying.
609.png
-Chandelure Rain, lol. Unless its LOLSCARFCHANDELUREEEEEE my Jolteon handles it fine. Can be a major problem if rain isn't up since I'll need to rely on a Speed Tie with Kabutops or sack Roserade to get rain back up. And that's if its not Scarfed.
638.png
-Cobalion Annoying Nigga. =.= It's 3HKO'd by Kabutops. And if I predict wrongly and it turns out to be the CM version... eh I just have to pray Roserade is still alive.
169.png
-Crobat Depending on if rain is active I can beat him, but if rain isn't active he can be one heck of a bastard to get down especially when he can Taunt all my attempts of restarting Rain.
555.png
-DarmanitanIf rain is down I have a tough time dealing with this guy, but if he isn't he usually ends up as death fodder anyway
232.png
-Donphan Another piece of setup fodder. Sturdy is a fucking bastard though. If lead, can be annoying as some may SR and some may Head Smash expecting the Taunt.
051.png
-Dugtrio The sash versions are damn good at pissing me off with EQ + Sucker Punch. I haven't really seen one though.
632.png
-Durant rofl 58/48 special bulk but he has a gay 109 Speed and the HustleClaws set can get really annoying.
604.png
-Eelektross never seen this guy ever tbh so I don't know much about him
466.png
-Electivire Another one of those "I die to you if rain isn't up". Ludicolo is the only thing that isn't SE by it, but hey its E-vire, do I have a chance?
589.png
-Escavalier Bulky enough to cause problems. the spdef version doesn't hit hard enough and the cb version doesn't have enough bulk. at least i can still setup rain
330.png
-Flygon Scarfgon can outrun +2 Omastar which may be a big problem.
478.png
-Froslass Generally these things are common as leads which may be problematic because either I get a layer of spikes or I get OHKO'd.

if ur not using focus blast much on tornadus and he dies to quickly, y not use u-turn? good scouting move, nice base 115 atk stat and he stays alive longer

wouldnt recommend modest on tornadus either, as even with max speed evs, he is still slower than base 100 speed who do mostly go max (if im not mistaken)

only other thing is i think kabutops would serve better in ur team as an offensive spinner

Focus Blast hits Empoleon + random rocks, I've been using it to some effect with Tornadus.

Kabutops is the only physical attacker I have and Rapid Spin may be a bit too hard to place onto him considering that I'm running dual STAB + Swords Dance/Rain Dance/Aqua Jet. :/

Hey, cool team. I've got a few little suggestions to help improve it, though.

Firstly, I think Jolteon is really cool, but your choice of item is counter-productive. You see, with Choice Specs, your opponent can outpredict you, and waste precious time in the rain. You'll be relying heavily on prediction every time you use Jolteon, just in case you opponent switches a resisting or immune Pokemon in. And even if you predict right, your opponent can shut you down as they have the choice of what to switch in next. I suggest changing the item to Life Orb. With Life Orb, you still hit really hard, and won't be bogged down by predictions from either player. It keeps the pressure on your opponent, and you won't waste turns of Rain Dance switching around. Also, Volt Absorb will give you ample opportunities to recover HP lost from Life Orb recoil.

I'm also unsure or Knock Off on Kabutops. I mean, I love the move, and the thinking behind it is good, but what player in their right mind will leave a Chansey in on a Kabutops in the rain? I think that if you are worried about Chansey (you should be, most of your team is specially based), then a move like Superpower would be a good choice to take it out. Alternatively, you could run Stealth Rock, as it would support your entire team by weakening opposing Pokemon. It also punishes Pokemon for switching against Ludicolo or Jolteon, trying to wear them down with Life Orb recoil.

Good luck with the team, I hope I helped

yay, thanks Moo its great to hear some praise of my team from a top UU player :)

You do make some sense about Life Orb though. I remember a post somewhere about not running choiced stuff on Trick Room teams because the switching is counter-productive and serves to waste Trick Room turns. I suppose the same logic can apply to Rain Dance seeing as I only have 7-8 turns to beat the stuff out. I'm however thinking of running Expert Belt instead, as most people assume Jolteon is choiced, and it'd be hilarious to nail Flygon on the switch with HP Ice, then the opponent sends in their Slowbro on the choiced resist only to get smashed by a Thunder to the face.

I'm currently trying out SOMALIA's suggestion of Kabutops now and it's working fine so far, but Stealth Rock is also cool considering that I'm now running Spikes (one of 2 reasons I even bother with Roserade anyway, the other is the Grass resist). I'm thinking of running a set of Swords Dance/Waterfall/Stone Edge/Stealth Rock essentially combining your suggestion with SOMALIA's.
