Each member of this rain team holds his or her own, and are capable of sweeping and supporting each other, in order to do so.

Thinking process...
Well for those of you who are into watching professional sports ( yes i realize how unrelated this is) as much as I watch the NHL, i tried to look at this team as if i were drafting players and forming a well built offensive team. The draft started with Politoed and from there it took off in the direction its gone in. Each member was selected and cut for various reasons helping me achieve what i have thus far. It's important to note that all the members i have previously used aren't necessarily impossible to be brought back, i would just need a very valid reason over what i have experienced from testing.

The team at last;

Politoed(M) @choice scarf.
Modest-252spe/252spatk/6hp

(drizzle)
  • Hydro pump
  • Ice beam
  • Hidden power [grass]
  • Perish song
Politoed doesn't just serve as my rain set up, he acts as a viable option to revenge. Scarftoed can sweep and apply pressure as well as remove all other forms of weather. Perish song is to stop baton pass chains, and set up sweepers cold in their tracks. Hidden power grass works as a great answer to quagsire and especially gastrodon who annoys me to no end. Ice beam is for gliscor, landorus, and dragons. Hydro pump over surf and scald despite its shaky accuracy it nets me some important OHKOs. Focus blast is a piece of shit and i refuse to use it.

Virizion (neutral)@ Leftovers
Jolly-252spe/252atk/6hp
(justified)

  • Swords Dance
  • Leaf Blade
  • Close Combat
  • Stone edge

Virizion was originally a Latias. Then a Latios, all in desperate attempts to wall Rotom-W from running a muk (haha) on my team.
But in the efforts while they were good at what they did, they left a huge weakness to not only blissey who would otherwise wall a huge portion of my team, not to mention ferrothorn perhaps...but it left me incredibly weak to Tyranitar and sand. The same can be said of Celebi wich is why Virizion is in this spot. I opted for SD over CM because i lack any real physical sweeper, aside from Dnite and leaving all of that to him is a ton of pressure to keep him healthy. Virizion answered my prayers with its physical SD set not only removing Blissey and TTar from sight but also scoring some notable KOs on Gyarados and especially Gastrodon and ferrothorn, all the while walling Rotom and KOing them aswell. Leaf Blade is my stab of choice, CC serves as my blissey and ttar remover, among others...And Stone edge was really just for coverage, as having HP ice might be a bit redundant seeing as i pack icebeam on 2 otehr pokemon. Swords dance is to boost my atk to sky high levels and
    help sweep.

Volcarona (F)@Leftovers
Modest- 252spatk/252spe/6
(Flame Body)

  • Quiver Dance
  • Fiery Dance
  • Bug buzz
  • Hurricane

Well this is the teams MVP. Many people might not be able to fathom the idea of Volcarona out of sunlight, but the truth is she functions just fine in the rain. Infact better than fine. Hurricane is a great move and it hits terrakions who think of revenging me on the switch. Quiver Dance gets the ball rolling, Fiery dance although weaker than Fire Blast especially in rain still gets the job done against the likes of scizor and ferrothorn, while still nabbing me SPATK boosts for free wich are always welcome. Bug buzz is stab and coverage for psychics and whoever else i can hit. All in all Volcarona gets the job done, and acts as a great answer to sun teams Along side Dragonite. Love this pokemon, won't switch it out for anything.

    Starmie (Neutral) @Lifeorb
    Timid-252spe/252spatk/6hp
    (Natural Cure)
  • Recover
  • Icebeam / Psychic
  • Scald
  • Rapid spin

So Starmie serves as my rapid spinner, CRUCIAL job for this team wich heavily relies on starmie to do so, wich is why Recover is firmly placed in its moveset. Rapid spin helps Dragonite and Volcarona do their jobs. Psychic is usually used over icebeam for gengar however ice beam has its own niche on the set aswel for nailing dragons and gliscors. Scald over hydro pump, for accuracy and Burns are always welcome. Recover allows starmie to spin more than once if need be.
Amazing spinner and does the job better than donphan regardless of being thunder weak, and adding another weakness to Rotom, its well worth it in the end

    Dragonite (M) @Leftovers/ Lum berry
  • Adamant- 112hp/146atk/252spe/
    (Multiscale)
  • Dragon Dance
  • Waterfall
  • Earthquake
  • Outrage

Dragonite is the physical force of the team abusing rain with waterfall and having great coverage with Earthquake and outrage. Dragonite has earned his reputation of being a monster this generation with the addition of Multiscale. Setting up has never been so easy and once he does look out. I opted for waterfall over Espeed and firepunch simply to abuse the rain. Its a good move in general and hasn't let me down yet. Eartquake helps when dealing with steel types, Outrage is to get mad and wreck shit. Gotta love Dnite for that. The evs are for some added Bulk and work nicely with the flow of this team.

    Jirachi (Neutral)@Leftovers
    Bold-252def/176hp/82spe
    (Serene Grace)
  • Calm Mind
  • Substitute
  • Thunder
  • Waterpulse
Well no pun intended but this might be able to say its the star of the team. This thing is only walled by Gastrodon. Blissey, ferrothorn, chansey...don't matter.
This thing hax's everyone to death, Sorry but its true. Jirachi was a nice fighting resist, and a great pokemon to synergize with Dragonite. He offers alot of potential in the rain and even without the rain can still tank alot of hits for me before going down.Calm Mind is to boost his lacking spdef and also raise his spatk to abuse thunder and water pulse to the fullest. sub is to avoid status and not let ferrothorn wall me. waterpulse is for rain abuse plus confusion thanks to serene grace. Thunder never misses in rain and with serene grace has i believe 60% chance to para? i might be wrong, but regardless many many times its paralyzed a counter or threat to a team mate, and helped win the match. Hes swept nearly as much as Volcarona...I'd say in the ranks he has the second most KO's wich is impressive considering his company. Overall i Love him alot.

Conclusion:
Overall I have no Hazards wich is annoying but at least i carry rapid spin. Im always able to apply the pressure offensivley. The team synergizes well and i'm sure outside of testing or using this team there may be alot of weaknesses on paper. But nothing i can't play around, or predict. Any suggestions are welcome:) I haven't tried laddering yet, as i only have been playing unrated and through a few friends who helped me test this out. I did take this team on an ALT to the PO server wich sucks but i wanted to test it out against some randoms regardless of skill or outcome.

Thanks.

Sorry to everyone who had read or seen the incomplete Version, power had to go off in the house thus not letting me complete it. Its done now, Thanks.
So rate away please :)
Bump!

Cool team, I really like the use of some interesting sets that seem to not get much play such as boosting volcarona in the rain. I think there are some cool sets that you could try and test out to really improve the functionality of this team. Life orb latios and some variants of latias seem to be a problem. Although jirachi does a decent job at sponging draco meteor, it is going to be 2HKOed by life orb surf in the rain. You also do not pack stealth rock on this team which can be pretty detrimental especially when trying to pull off a sweep with dragonite or volcarona. I'd simply try and run a specially defensive wish jirachi with stealth rock / wish / thunder / iron head over your current version. A spread of 252 HP / 216 SpDef / 40 Spe with leftovers would work pretty well on this kind of jirachi. Although it is pretty effective, I do not see the use of running sub cm jirachi on this team. Instead, you could add some wish support and add stealth rocks which is necessary on a more offensively based team such as this.

If you feel that you need a presence against sand with this team, I think that you may want to reconsider using virizion. Although virizion switches into tyranitar pretty easily, the standard sand team is usually able to handle virizion quite well. Maybe try running a bulk up breloom set over virizion. Breloom is an excellent offensive presence against sand teams and allows you to destroy standard volt switch + u-turn teams which are commonly seen with sand support from tyranitar. A set with bulk up / spore / drain punch / seed bomb and a careful nature works excellently. An ev spread of 236 HP / 212 SpDef / 60 Spe allows you to outspace other pretty defensive threats such as choice band tyranitar and defensive politoed. Although breloom is taken down by some pretty common team members to tyranitar such as skarmory and celebi, I really do not think that it should be much of a problem. If your opponent happens to bring in celebi to try and force breloom out, it will be a huge liability with volcarona or even dragonite waiting in the wings.

Well I haven't considered breloom, especially bulk up loom, i will definately have to try it out and see, as you know and mentioned i chose virizion soley to deal with ttar and blissey,as without ttar sand cannot hurt me, my only concern is with rotom w, with careful and evs invested can loom face up to volt switch as easily as virizion? I will need to test and see.

The rachi set you mentioned sounds good, but im hesitant on switching my current set...as apealing as SR is...its tough. I'll need to test aswell, my only concern is loosing the huge offensive presence that this rachi offers my team, as like i said its responsible for almost as many kos as Volc.

Thanks thought for the ideas, much apprechiated I will test and get back to it. :)
Tested rachi out a bit, love it so far, will need more time through out the week, but it helps.

Hi, first of all, I would like to second AB2's suggestion of Bulk Up Breloom. On top of what he has already explained Bulk Up Breloom would give you a trump card against opposing Rain teams, Rain stall in particular. It also gives you a better status absorber than Starmie. Its ability to come in against Rain stall with impunity, thanks to its Toxic immunity, set up, and straight up plow is much welcomed. The ability to take on Volt-turn is just icing on the cake.

Stealth Rock, as well, is an absolute necessity on any team, simply because it is needed to neuter Dragonite and Volcarona. If you go with Bulk Up Breloom, you will have a stallbreaker to replace SubCM Jirachi. I do, however, disagree with using Specially Defensive Jirachi. Instead, I think you should go with a Ferrothorn to be your Stealth Rock user. Currently, opposing Life Orb Starmie could give you some problems, as can DD Haxorus. With a spread of 252 HP / 88 Def / 168 SpD and a Relaxed Nature. Ferrothorn can survive a 2HKO from Haxorus and retaliate with Gyro Ball. I suggest going with Stealth Rock, Spikes, Gyro Ball, and Power Whip. Stealth Rock+Spikes can help Volcarona and Dragonite grab numerous extra KOs. Gyro Ball to hit Dragons, such as Dragonite and Haxours, while Power Whip hits Starmie and other troublesome threats.

Speaking of Volcarona, you really want Lum Berry on him. Status, especially paralysis, fucks up Volcarona royally. Since you're an offensive variant, the loss of Leftovers should be pretty much unnoticable. You also want Fire Blast to ensure the KO on Ferrothorn. On Starmie, definitely toss Ice Beam/ Psychic and Scald away for Thunder and Hydro Pump. Thunder is a necessity, as you carry both Dragonite and Volcarona, so getting your spin through against Jellicent is a must. While Scald is more accurate, it fails to KO Terrakion in the sand, which is just sad. Nobody else on the team can stand up to a +2 Terrakion, so you cannot take this risk of missing a KO. Finally, replace Earthquake with Extremespeed on Dragonite and go with 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe on Dragonite. Waterfall and the pseudo STAB is sufficient coverage against Steel-types, you have Breloom and Volcarona who can use Ferrothorn as set up bait anyways, so don't worry about that. Max out that Attack, Dragonite needs it for the extra KOs, especially with Extremespeed against potential revenge killers.

GL
Bulk Up Breloom>SD Virizion
pros: what AB2 already touched on+trump card against Rain stall
cons: you lose Virizion's Speed, but Breloom just brings too much to the table

Ferrothorn>SubCM Jirachi
pros: SR+Spikes user, check Dragons, such as DD Haxorus and DD Dragonite, checks Starmie and other troublesome Rain abusers
cons: lose out on the Wish user

Lum Berry>Leftovers on Volcarona
pros: means Volcarona wont get shut down by a random Thunder Wave or Toxic
cons: you won't miss the little bit of extra recovery

Hydro Pump+Thunder>Scald+Ice Beam on Starmie
pros: allows you to get through Jellicent, can actually OHKO Terrakion
cons: I guess you lose some accuracy...

Extremespeed>Earthquake+new EVs on Dragonite
pros: can now pick off potential revenge killers
cons: not much, since Breloom/ Volcarona use Ferrothorn as set up bait
