torrential downpour

Hey Smogon its been a while. I have been busy as normal, and just got back in the swing of things. There was a lot of rain today, so I decided to make a Rain RMT! EXCITING RIGHT?!

Anyway, let the RMT Begin!

First Look:

Politoed_(Pokémon)
Breloom_(Pokémon)
Jirachi_(Pokémon)
Tentacruel_(Pokémon)
Scizor_(Pokémon)
Dragonite_(Pokémon)

Politoed (F) @ Choice Specs
Trait: Drizzle
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 SAtk / 4 HP
Timid Nature
- Hydro Pump / Surf
- Ice Beam
- Hidden Power [Grass]
- Focus Blast

What is a rain team without my main rainmaker. I normally keep him protected so that I can induce rain the entire battle- I make sure he's kept safe and now and then do a little damage with him. Just don't let him die and it will all be good.
*Pro tip: Don't let any of your pokemon die, and you just might win the battle XD. Thanks to mostwanted for showing me this improved politoed-- my other set wasnt really pulling its weight offensively. Now this toad can actually do damage and not just wast a slot on my team just to induce rain. Credit to mostwanted- With Toxic Spikes it can do some serious damage to your opponent’s team. It can allows your other sweepers to function better, eliminating threats with its sheer power. Ice Beam allows Politoed to check opposing Dragon and Grass types, while Focus Blast is useful for smashing Ferrothorn and Empoleon. The last slot is dedicated to Hidden Power Grass to cover Water Absorb Jellicent, Rotom-W, Storm Drain Gastrodon. Hydro Pump deals more damage than 2x super effective coverage moves. This set gives you a better chance against Sandstorm and defensive teams if played correctly.

Breloom (M) @ Toxic Orb
Trait: Poison Heal
EVs: 236 HP / 212 SDef / 60 Spd
Careful Nature (+SDef, -SAtk)
- Bulk Up
- Spore
- Seed Bomb
- Drain Punch

At the recommendation of mostwanted I added breloom. Now that I have a solid electric resistance, the rest was well summed up by most wanted. All credit to him for this- Breloom can effectively use a Bulk Up set that hinders common physical walls such as Gliscor, Quagsire, and most stall teams. It defeats Volt-turn combo, Tyranitar, Ferrothorn, Forretress, Jellicent which all can be a huge threat if played correctly. Politoed is what that makes this set operational; Breloom can easily tank Hidden Power Fire in Rain. Celebi and Gliscor are its main counters Jirachi takes care of Celebi while Politoed decimates Gliscor. 236 HP EVs will ensure that Breloom will have the highest HP, 60 Speed EVs allow Breloom to reach 191 Speed, outspeeding standard Heatran and other bulky Pokemon such as Choice Band Tyranitar, Skarmory, and defensive Politoed; the rest is put into Special Defense in order to take hits such as Rotom-W's Hydro Pump much better.

Jirachi @ Leftovers
Trait: Serene Grace
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature
- Thunder
- Water Pulse/Psyshock?
- Substitute
- Calm Mind

This is awesome in rain. With thunder being 100% accurate and serene grace making it even more likely to paraysis, and rain making water pulse more powerful and serene grace more likely to confuse, and making jirachi less weak to fire, its awesome. As said before, jirachi can take down other important threats and if it can get a good enough set up it will destroy unprepared teams. Nuff said.

Dokukurage___aka_Tentacruel_by_SirCrocodile.jpg

Tentacruel @ Black Sludge
Trait: Rain Dish
EVs: 252 HP / 208 Def / 4 SDef / 44 Spd
Bold Nature
- Surf
- Toxic Spikes
- Protect
- Rapid Spin

Sets up spikes, walls things, burns others, heals himself with black sludge, can't be tricked, heals himself again with rain dish, this thing becomes a defensive juggernaut that will have opponents pulling their hair out trying to kill him.

Scizor @ Choice Band
Trait: technician
Evs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 Spe
Adamant Nature
-Bullet Punch
-U-turn
-Pursuit
-Superpower

It has good synergy, is easy to use, can beat stuff down with its awesomly boosted STAB priority move, and its x4 weakness to fire is reduced by the rain to a nice x2. Plus it looks badass and can wreck your shizzz if your not careful. Be careful. Scizor is an old favorite of mine. Everyone knows the deadly STAB, technician boosted, choice band boosted, priority move called bullet punch. It isn't old news, and it is still freak awesome and really packs a punch.

Dragonite @ leftovers
trait: Multiscale
Evs: 224 HP / 252 SpA / 32 Spe
modest nature
- Hurricane
- Thunder
- Surf
- Roost

I fell in love with special attack dragonite. It makes Thunder a 100% chance hit, it makes Hurricane a 100% hit, its boosts surfs power, and with this dragon's ability, multiscale, he can take hits. And then heal himself with roost and leftovers to take more hits. The only problem is his speed- beside that he is great. I am considering replacing him with Tornadus- any ideas on that switch would be great. And that is my RMT!

***Also, I am having a problem with other Steel types- I am considering adding a magnazone but i am not sure as to who to replace.***

swift swim + drizzle is banned. I suggest using sharpedo over crawdunt, but not the set that you're running. Run the one that's on the smogon ou tab

Sir, if you look at the beginning of my RMT it says that '*****- quick note- the team I am using does not follow the ban on swift swimmers on drizzle teams. This team is used for battles that loosely follow the rules, and the rule that got slipped was swift swimmers on drizzle teams XD.'

I know its not normally allowed, but the tournament I am competing in has a specific competition that removes one standard rule from OU play- the rule this time around happens to be the 'swift swim drizzle' ban.

Sorry for the Confusion.

Hi,

You may want to try and add to your descriptions, because they are a bit lacking. I don't have time for a full rate, but here are some thoughts. First off, Sir is correct. Run either the MixPedo set or the Physical set. They work much better than the one above. Crawdaunt as a sweeper just doesn't really appeal to me. Next, Toxic Spikes with Scald is redundant, because you can't burn anything that will be poisoned by Toxic Spikes. That's why you should go with Surf > Scald. On Jirachi, try out a spread of 252 HP | 252 Def | 4 Spe; though it isn't standard, it can take a +1 EQ from max Attack Haxorus and LIVE. Now, that is saying something, seeing as you have a good chance of paralyzing the Haxorus on the same turn. On Politoed, go with Perish Song for sure, so you can counter Baton Pass teams without sacking Pokemon. Ferrothorn is going to be a mess to face, so you may try Magnezone out, though I don't know who to replace. It seems like Scizor is the most replaceable member, though, so I suggest you test replacing him. Anyhow, cool team. Good luck.

Harsha 248 hp evs on jirachi with substitute is not good as you cant set up 4 subs or take a seismic toss or night shade with a sub up.

Hey

Cool team man. However it lacks a solid electric resist, making it massively weak to Life Orb Starmie and Choice Specs Rotom-W. Nothing on your team can tank a Specs Volt Switch, Hydro Pump from Rotom-W making it incredibly weak to infamous Volt Switch + U-turn combo. To fix this problem I would suggest you to replace Kingdra for Bulk Up Breloom. Breloom can effectively use a Bulk Up set that hinders common physical walls such as Gliscor, Quagsire, and most stall teams.

Breloom (M) @ Toxic Orb
Trait: Poison Heal
EVs: 236 HP / 212 SDef / 60 Spd
Careful Nature (+SDef, -SAtk)
- Bulk Up
- Spore
- Seed Bomb
- Drain Punch

I would recommend that you make your Politoed Choice Specs. With Toxic Spikes it can do some serious damage to your opponent’s team. Psyshock can be put over Waterpulse since Ground and Fire types are now covered by Politoed. Psyshock lets you defeat opposing Brelooms, Virizion, Reuniclus who can be problematic.

Politoed (F) @ Choice Specs
Trait: Drizzle
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 SAtk / 4 HP
Timid Nature
- Hydro Pump / Surf
- Ice Beam
- Hidden Power [Grass]
- Focus Blast

Now your team looks sun weak, to fix this I would put Dragonite over Sharpedo / Crawdaunt. He would really seal the deal. Dragonite is an excellent team mate, it clears path for Breloom and Jirachi, giving them opportunity to sweep themselves. Dragonite and Scizor’s priority paired with Politoed should be able to beat sun with an ease. Although this set is generally less bulky than the bulky Dragon Dance set, it is still fairly easy to set up, thanks to Multiscale boosting Dragonite's bulk. Dragon Dance is there for obvious reasons, you can use either Fire Punch or Aqua Tail for coverage, Extremespeed gives you insurance against faster mons while Outrage is there for stab and getting those important OHKOs which Dragon Claw can’t get. Good Luck!

Dragonite (M) @ Lum Berry
Trait: Multiscale
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Dragon Dance
- Fire Punch / Aqua Tail
- Outrage
- ExtremeSpeed

you need to familiarize yourself with the rmt rules before posting. i will give you time to edit your team, or i will have to lock this thread.
