Hi, guys. This is my DW OU team that I use most often, and so far, it works the best. I am mostly satisfied with the Pokemon on this team, and it has gotten about a 3:2 win-loss ratio. Anyways, here is the team:
Ferrothorn @ Leftovers
Nature: Relaxed
252 HP / 88 Def / 168 SpD
IVs: 0 Spe
- Leech Seed
- Gyro Ball
- Power Whip
- Stealth Rock
This is pretty much Smogon's standard Ferrothorn set, but with rocks instead of spikes. I use him as my lead for a couple of reasons. He is great at setting up rocks, and his gyro ball can 2-hit KO pretty much any insanely fast must-taunt-enemy-before-he-taunts-me lead (especially Deoxys-S). If he does get taunted, I'll either switch if the enemy sends in a good Ferrothron check and set up rocks later, or wall the enemy until taunt wears off and I can set up rocks. I usually like to keep him alive, because he can come in handy late game and wall some poke's that Gliscor and Jellicent couldn't handle. Overall, I am pretty satisfied with Ferrothorn, and I don't see any reason to change him.
Scizor @ Choice Band
Nature: Adamant
Ability: Technician
248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 Spe
- U-turn
- Bullet Punch
- Superpower
- Pursuit
Scizor is the epitome of physical sweepers. His bullet punch one hits pretty much anything unresisted. He can trap and kill nearly every psychic or ghost type. He can demolish Heatran and Terrakion, and can also get an edge with U-turn. He is, simply put, flawless. I am extremely satisfied with him. There is nothing more that can be said.
Starmie @ Life Orb
Nature: Timid
Ability: Natural Cure
4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
- Hydro Pump
- Ice Beam
- Thunderbolt
- Rapid Spin
Starmie is my special sweeper, and a great one, too. He has excellent coverage with Hydro Pump and BoltBeam, and often surprises opponents when Starmie switches moves and one-hits them. Starmie can also spin away hazards if a wall comes in before I switch Starmie out. I often switch in Starmie after Scizor U-turns when an opponent switches in a physical wall and Starmie then proceeds to topple Scizor's counter. Another thing I have to comment on is his speed. Very few people realize just how fast Starmie is. He has been known to outspeed the likes of Dragonite and Heatran, to name a couple. This usually takes the enemy by surprise. The only thing I don't like about Starmie is his dual psychic typing. Occasionally Starmie will get one-hitted by a faster Gengar's shadow ball (or on one where Hydro Pump missed.) However, this doesn't happen often, and overall, Starmie's competent attack and superior speed fits perfectly for my team.
Gliscor @ Toxic Orb
Nature: Impish
Ability: Poison Heal
252 HP / 184 Def / 72 Spe
- Earthquake
- Toxic
- Ice Fang
- Protect
Gliscor is my physical wall. He works pretty well for what I am looking for. The idea is to poison the enemy, and then earthquake-protect while poison slowly whittles down the enemy's HP. When I use protect, toxic heal gives me back a decent portion of my HP. I have to be careful of steel types, and although Earthquake can 3HKO most times, they are immune to poison and usually pack a move that sends Gliscor packing. The only complaint I have is ice fang's subpar BP, and I am not sure why I haven't already switched it to facade. Overall, Gliscor works in tandem with most of the other Pokemon on my team.
Salamence @ Life Orb
Nature: Rash
Ability: Intimidate
116 Atk / 216 SpA / 176 Spe
- Draco Meteor
- Fire Blast
- Brick Break
- Roost
Here's where things get different. Before, I was completely in love with my Pokemon. But with Salamence, it's different. I don't really think Salamence fits on the team. Usually, he can get a hit in on the opponent, but it seldom does much damage. Also, when roost is needed, Salamence never gets a chance to use it because he is outsped. After a while, he became extra weight on the team, just being used for death fodder. The idea was to have him be a mixed sweeper that could kill both physical and special pokemon, but all around he just sucks. This is why I am writing this - I need a replacement. This was kind of a free slot in my team, so I chose to have a mixed sweeper, but now I need something else. If you have a suggestion as to a replacement, please leave a comment, as I could really use it.
Jellicent @ Leftovers
Nature: Bold
248 HP / 216 Def / 44 Spe
- Scald
- Will-O-Wisp
- Recover
- Taunt
Jellicent is the other pokemon on my team whom I am dissatisfied with. When I was writing this RMT, I noticed I had put jellicent's EVs in defense when she was supposed to be a special wall. Whoops. *facepalm* Anyways, aside form that, jellicent hasn't been working either. She takes special attacks ok, but can't seem to do anything else. She only has 1 attack, and when she uses it, it has about the explosive power of lemonade. Will-O-wisp isn't helpful either, that aside from it constantly missing, the opponent usually switches out the afflicted pokemon or rests it away. Recover helps jellicent gamble for life, but the opponent usually does slightly more damage to jellicent than jellicent heals back, and inevitably, it dies. Before I use taunt, the enemy is setting up calm minds or the like, getting the advantage on me. After I use taunt, they have to attack jellicent, and it dies, and the enemy has the advantage on me. Lose-lose. So now I need a replacement special wall. If you have any suggestions on either mence or jellicent, feel free to leave a comment, I really appreciate it.
So now that I am done explaining my pokemon, it's time for the threat list. Genesect causes troubles all around, as I have no true counter for him. Breloom is also bad news, because he spores my counter and then sub-punches everyone else. Starmie might have been able to outspeed and one-hit with ice beam, if not for the omnipresent infernal substitute. Espeon is another annoyance, especially when he magic bounces stealth rock onto us. He can kill jellicent with shadow ball, and the only other pokemon that can kill it is scizor. Politoed is damn annoying, as it outspeeds mence, and Starmie's T-bolt doesn't immediately kill it. Jirachi stomps all over everybody on my team, since once they're paralyzed, they're as good as dead. Before we know it, we're all getting para-flinched to oblivion. Zapdos outspeeds a good portion of my team, and sending in starmie is risky. ASableye and Jolteon also give me problems.
So again, what I really need is a replacement for mence and jellicent. If you have any suggestions, I am open to them. I would appreciate any comments. Thanks for your time. I will update my team accordingly.
