Rain team with pokemon i wanted to use not needed.

This is a rain team that i just recently made with some pokemon that i didn't have to use, i just decided that i wanted to use these as i am tired of the highly original OU tier with 6 ou pokemon so i changed up my play style a bit and thus far this team is 7 wins and 2 losses.

The Team Build

At first i knew from the start that i was obviously going to use rain. So i started of with the very amazing lead Politoed. Next pokemon i knew i wanted to use was a water pokemon to set up in the rain so that way his moves had STAB and would be extra powerful so the second pokemon in my line up was going to be non other than the notorious Feraligatr (my fav gen 2 starter.)

Next i was looking around for a third pokemon and came across the known but rarely used Parasect. Parasect is respectably a good pokemon if used right, especially in rain with the "dry skin" ability. Having dry skin with leftovers allows it to gain around 1/4 of health per turn allowing him to stay in the game/alive longer. Not to mention it gets to have the 100 % accurate move spore to put pokemon to sleep.

After getting the main two pokemon i wanted to use (Feraligatr and Parasect) i knew it was time to get serious. So next i knew i was lacking a bit of defense on my team and as soon as i realized that i knew exactly who i wanted to use which ultimatly ended up being the well known and used Ferrothorn. Ferrothorn is both a great wall and a great pokemon to set up either spikes and stealth rocks or spikes with leech seed, which slowlt drops a pokemon not to mention he is really annoying to take down in rain while resisting everything but fighting and fire types.

After choosing the first four pokemon on my team i decided that i wanted to feel a bit of my old 4th gen playstyle so i decided to add the quick and powerful Raikou. Raikou is both a great late game sweeper and with calm mind like mine, also a great sweeper. If Raikou get's at least 1 calm mind, yes even one he can prove to be an annoyance to people and many of the pokemon on their teams, not only is this why i chose Raikou, it also happens to be my favorite of all legendary dogs.

Finally for my 6th pokemon i realized yet again that i was lacking a main sp. wall so i decided that it was either Tentacruel or Jellicent, but i decided to choose tentacruel mainly because i just like it more and also because i like to be able to set up my toxic spikes as they can be quite a problem if the enemy isn't well prepaired for them. Also tentacruel proves to be a great wall against pokemon like scizor, forcing them to switch out and allowing me at least a free set of toxic spikes.

Pokemon and their setups

186.gif

Politoed (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Drizzle
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SDef
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Perish Song
- Protect
- Toxic
- Scald

Politoed is without a doubt my lead as it sets up my rain with it's amazing ability "Drizzle". I run bold defense set poli as it allows it to be able to take hits and fight back. Perish song is in case someone is trying to set up or stall against me, which ultimately stops them from getting a full sweep. Protect is to help me stall to gain some health, maybe to live another hit or to see what their next move is gonna be so i could possibly try to counter. I like to use toxic because it allows me to slowly destroy my enemy even when i'm dead. The final move i use is Scald as it is a great move for a few reasons. Number one being it's STAB, number two being it can burn the enemy and three it's even stronger in the rain.

160.gif

Feraligatr (M) @ Life Orb
Trait: Torrent
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Def
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Superpower
- Waterfall
- Aqua Jet
- Swords Dance

Feraligatr is my amazing sweeper, if used right it can Sweep easily. I use adamant for more power seeming if i want a little extra speed i will just use Aqua jet as it is a great priority move and with a swords dance up deals a lot of damage to most pokemon. Waterfall is his strongest stab move 2hko'ing nearly every pokemon i run across with a SD up sometimes even without one because of the extra power life orb allows him to have. Last is Superpower which is for those bulkyer pokemon who prove to be annoying and it allows better coverage in case the water moves aren't able to get it done.

047.gif

Parasect (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Dry Skin
EVs: 252 HP / 160 Def / 96 SDef
Careful Nature (+SDef, -SAtk)
- Protect
- Giga Drain
- Leech Seed
- Spore

Parasect is probably the coolest ever. With the ability dry skin along with leftovers in the rain she is able to gain around 1/4 health i believe not to mention you could giga drain to gain even more health allowing parasect to make some people angry and rage because of how hard it is to take down. Leech seed is there so if i want to stall my enemy down to low or empty health and gain life that way too. Last but not least is the move Spor which also allows me to put the enemy asleep to stall even easier or switch into another pokemon and try to set up.
598.gif

Ferrothorn (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP / 48 Def / 208 SDef
Sassy Nature (+SDef, -Spd)
- Power Whip
- Leech Seed
- Thunder Wave
- Spikes

Ferrothorn is my wall with both of his great defensive abilities with rain out makes him really annoying seeming how the only thing that can really take him out is fighting type moves. Well here we go. Power whip is there for stab and so i have a move to do some damage with if leech seeds is unable to get it done. Thunder wave is there to cripple faster or scarfed pokemon, mostly stopping them from being able to hurt me. My final move is Spikes which depending on how many i have out can do decent damage to the pokemon comming on to the playing field.

243.gif

Raikou @ Life Orb
Trait: Pressure
EVs: 252 SAtk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Rash Nature (+SAtk, -SDef)
- Thunder
- Weather Ball
- Aura Sphere
- Calm Mind

Next up is my pokemon, my favorite on the team, Raikou. First off i'll start with thunder which in the rain is really unable to miss allowing it to do a lot of damage to most pokemon especially seeming how it is STAB. Next up is weather ball allowing Raikou to have more coverage over other pokemon that my other moves may not be able to deal with said pokemon. Aura Sphere is my next move which allows me to have better coverage against pokemon like tyranitar, landorus or terrakion mostly if i out predict. Calm Mind is my final move, after setting up one calm mind raikou is nearly unstoppable and a great threat to a lot of pokemon used in this ou meta.

073.gif

Tentacruel (M) @ Black Sludge
Trait: Rain Dish
EVs: 252 HP / 240 Def / 16 Spd
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Protect
- Scald
- Toxic Spikes
- Rapid Spin

Last pokemon but certainly not least is Tentacruel. Tentacruel is both a great wall as a bold nature and can still take special hits as well. Ok let's begin.
First up is toxic spikes, toxic spikes are there to set up so my opponent will have to take even more damage allowing me to have the advantage especially since they will become poisoned as well. Scald is there for coverage and STAB, not to mention the move can burn pokemon and cause another status problem if toxic spikes are unable to. Tentacruel is also my rapid spinner which canget rid of my opponents set up moves such as Stealth rock/Spikes/Toxic spikes.

That's it for my team. if you see anything that needs to be fixed feel free to post here saying so and state what i should do to fix it along with a statement of why.

Hi there, nice team ! I love the idea of using Parasect and Raikou with Weather Ball =D

Howerver, I have a question : How well goes this team against Sun Teams ? It seems to me that you're pretty weak to them =/

Thanks, i wanted to try something different for once. actually to be honest i have yet to battle a sun team with this team yet, so i guess we'll see what happens when the time comes. If you or anyone has suggestions before that happens feel free to give me some options on fixing my team.

Hey, PokemonPlayer93! Nice team.

First off, I notice a slight weakness to Magnezone if it can come in on Ferrothorn. It can then set up a Substitute and start setting up Charge Beams, to get boosts in SpA, and then taking out Ferrothorn. Ferrothorn is an important glue to your defensive core, as it is the main target of Outrages and Draco Meteors. That's why I would recommend Shed Shell as an item over Leftovers. It prevents Magnezone from using Ferrothorn as a set-up fodder, and prevents the loss of Ferrothorn in those situations, a Pokemon that is very important to you defensively. Now, a threat to your team is a Standard Ferrothorn. It walls Politoed, Feraligatr, Tentacruel, Parasect and your own Ferrothorn. If Raikou goes down, you'll have a lot of problems with Ferrothorn. To fix this problem, I would opt for a Substitute + Swords Dance Terrakion instead of your Parasect. This change gives you 3 physical attackers and 3 special attackers, instead of 2 physical attackers and 4 special attackers. Terrakion brings a more offensive touch to your team, letting you deal with opposing Ferrothorns and Blisseys with much more ease. While Parasect is cool, it really plays a similar role to Ferrothorn, who does the job better. Terrakion also lets you deal with Sun and Sand teams with more ease! Substitute lets Terrakion set-up without being revenge-killed, while Swords Dance doubles its Attack stat, making it a fearsome sweeper. Stone Edge and Close Combat are its main STAB moves, granting great coverage as wallbreaker. When boosted, those powerful moves will easily let you run through opposing teams. The Rock Gem gives Terrakion a chance to OHKO Gliscor at +2 with Stone Edge. Finally, I would recommend Ice Punch over Waterfall for Feraligatr. After a Swords Dance, Aqua Jet already hits hard thanks to Rain's presence, so Waterfall isn't needed. Ice Punch lets you nail Dragonite. Cool team, and good luck! :>

Terrakion @ Rock Gem | Justified
Jolly Nature | 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Substitute | Swords Dance | Close Combat | Stone Edge

Summary of Changes:

Parasect ---> Substitute + Swords Dance Terrakion
Leftovers for Ferrothorn ---> Shed Shell
Waterfall for Feraligatr ---> Ice Punch

I think parasect got it's own giga drain nerfed. The nature on it is careful yet giga drain is a special attack. switch it to calm or sassy.

Why are these teams so similar? Yeah sure, Feraligatr has Life Orb instead of Mystic Water and Parasect has Giga Drain instead of Substitute but really? Both of these RMTs have gif sprites, and the "Team at a Glance" has the sprites arranged in the exact order that it's creepy. The EV spreads are identical too. Heck, even the arrangement of the moves are identical (except for Parasect of course).

Unless you're Chris.Breshears from the Marriland forums, this is plagiarism. Because the chances of you selecting the same Pokemon (Parasect in particular), the same EV spread (Ferrothorn has a non standard spread here on site), and the exact moveset - with the moves being listed in the exact order is very, very slim to none.

If this IS Chris.Breshears from the Marriland forums, you have my sincere apologies. You already got a rate from me.
