Some Help with Tyranitar

I'm messing around with a Sandstorm team right now, and I'm trying to get a perfect Tyranitar to lead it. I'm having some trouble with this, though. I have most of the moveset down, but there are still some troubles:

Tyranitar @ Leftovers
Adamant Nature
Sand Stream

EV Spread
252 Attack/252 Special Defense/6 HP

Dragon Dance
Earthquake
Stone Edge
Crunch

The main problems here, are the item he should hold, his EV Spread, and the last move of his moveset. I'm not sure whether or not to use Power Orb or Leftovers, since Dragon Dance seems to make Power Orb almost obsolete, and Leftovers makes him into somewhat of a Special Tank, along with a Special Sweeper. But, on the other hand, Power Orb could ensure me defeating a Fighting type when it's thrown against me, while Leftovers could make it just not enough. I think the EV Spread's pretty good, but I'm not entirely sure if I should put that much into Special Defense, or invest some other points into another stat. Finally, is there any move Tyranitar can learn that'd be more useful than Crunch? It just seems like his movepool is too limitted to include anything that would be better than it.

Well, any suggestions would be appreciated. I need a good Tyranitar to lead my Sandstorm team, and any suggestions would help a great deal.

Crunch is pretty good actually... Hits Ghosts and Psychics plus it's physical.

I didn't know Tyranitar could be a physical tank O_O but I'm sure you don't need that many Sp Def Evs - or any for that matter. Sandstream should give it enough Sp. Def, but if you must, I think around the 100 area is good enough, he needs more Spd to set up DD.

What exactly does Power Orb do?

Power Orb increases attack damage by x1.3, but does recoil damage. I can't remember how much, I think it's 1/4 or 1/3 of the damage dealt.

Yeah, now that I think about it, Sandstorm does seem to raise his Special Defense enough (I remember my old, non EV trained Ttar could take Surf and only lose about 1/4 of his total HP), I should probably focus on another stat.

Well, I can already see one hole - you have nothing that will be effective against grass types.

Fire or Ice Fang would solve that problem. Alternatively, you could go with Aerial Ace. But then, Crunch does get STAB, so it might be worth sticking with it. Fire Fang has the advantage of being supereffective against skarmory, so you might get a bit of damage in. Ice Fang would be useful against Garchomp. Aerial Ace helps to handle those pesky fighting types

Alternatively, you could drop the inaccurate Stone Edge, and replace it with one of the three I mentioned above, which would also gain you those advantages.

Oh, didn't see this post above me.

Hmm, Ice Fang seems like a good idea, considering Garchomp will probably be OU in the future. I think I'll keep Stone Edge, just for the fact that's it's huge with STAB, and that 80 Accuracy doesn't seem that bad, for whatever reason. It misses far less than its accuracy says, at least for me. Meh, I guess it must be luck.

Thanks. These were some good suggestions.

Against Skarmory, Stone Edge does more damage than Fire Fang. Don't drop Stone Edge for a random bad move that doesn't really help you. Stone Edge still does more damage to Grass and non-Garchomp/Flygon Dragons.

Well, you have the following item choices:
-Leftovers (Always a great choice.)
-Choice Band (You don't want to ditch DD, so this probably won't be the winning ticket either, CBtar hurts hard, though.)
-Choice Scarf (Nice suprise effect, but the others are probably better, and if you're going to use DD, it's out of the question.)
-Life Orb

Nature is perfect, Atk EVs are okay, I wouldn't put anything in SDef, Tyranitar's function is to sweep your opponent, so you could better Max Out Spd, or 180 Spd, and put the rest of the EVs in HP, so that you could use Life Orb...

Fire Fang: 65 x 2 x .95 x (17/16) = ~131

Stone Edge: 100 x .8 x (5/4) = ~ 100

Average damage says otherwise. Not to mention that Fire Fang is primarily for Levitate Bronzong who resists SE, DC, EQ.

Wrong; you forgot STAB. Stone Edge now has ~150 base power, 19 higher than Fire Fang.

And Crunch would take care of Bronzong almost just as much as Fire Fang would.
