I'll keep it short, but this is my first submission to RMT and I really do enjoy playing with this team up the ladder on PS. This team was constructed after Meinshao and Scarfty descended from OU to UU causing inspiritation within me to make this team. This team is performing well on the Pokemon Showdown server, being able to adapt to majority of teams. So, let's get started I guess.
Kingdra @ Choice Specs
Trait: Swift Swim
EVs: 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Modest Nature
- Draco Meteor
- Dragon Pulse
- Hydro Pump
- Surf
All hail the king of the sea! No, not Manaphy, Kingdra. When I had first had the desire to make a new team, I chose a poke that seems underrated and that I haven't used before. Specs-Kingdra was the first thing that came to my mind. With its powerful dual STAB in the form of Draco Meteor and Hydro pump, Kingdra puts a massive dent into most switch-ins expecting the physical set aside from Empoleon, Snorlax and Sp.Defensive Milotic with the proper move. Though strickly offensive, Kingdra can still take some restited or neutral hits for Xatu such as Flare Blitz from Darmanitan. Kingdra always seems to perform well and help support the team offensively. Such a royal pain.
Shaymin @ Life Orb
Trait: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Seed Flare
- Earth Power
- Psychic
- Rest
Shaymin, the gratitude pokemon. I'm gracious to have been directed towards Shaymin has this team's LO user instead of Nidoking. Both Nidoking and Shaymin have their pros and cons, but Shaymin proved to be more useful. Shaymin is a great offensive pivot, being able to scout sets, and being able to threaten the opposition in return with a power Seed Flare. With great natural bulk, survivability, and a reliable source of healing off any prior damage with Rest + Natural Cure Shaymin has proven how versatile he can be on the field of battle. Seed Flare, with a 40% chance to lower Sp.Defense by 2 stages and huge base power, is the selling point of Shaymin and main way to dispatch annoying bulky Water-types (Suicune, Milotic, Blastoise, Swampert). Earth power to hit any Fire-types trying to sponge a Seed Flare. Psychic may seem odd at first over HP Fire or Ice, but it has its uses. For one Psychic, hits Standard Roserade (252 HP/136 Sp.Def) a lot hard then any other move in it's arsenal, being a Guaranteed 2HKO doing 50% - 59% (162 - 194 HP). To the victor, goes the spoils and so his crown of Gracidea.
Crobat @ Black Sludge
Trait: Inner Focus
EVs: 176 Spd / 252 HP / 76 Atk / 4 SDef
Jolly Nature
- Taunt
- U-turn
- Roost
- Brave Bird
With the introduction to 2 massive fighting-type behemoths, Scarfty and Mienshao, I was scrambling to find a good check to both while not having a sitting duck on my team with no offensive pressence. At first I had Machamp in place of Crobat, being able to 2HKO any build of Scrafty or Mienshao, but it couldn't take 2 Hi jump kicks. So, I turned to Average Crow. Not only is Crobat able to break stall teams with Taunt and Brave Bird and scout switch-ins with U-turn, but it also combats Mienshao and Scrafty shockingly well! It's hard to believe how many LO'd Mienshaos, first turn, Fake out forgeting about Inner Focus and end up being OHKO'd from Brave Bird. Scrafty majority of the time, depending on the situation, is 2HKO'd. Standard DD Scrafty is 2HKO'd 100% of the time with Brave Bird doing 84% - 100% , while Crobat is capable of taking a LO'd Ice Punch with a hefty chunk of Health remaining. Bulk up Scrafty is 2HKO'd without any bulk ups, while with +1 Defense Brave Bird still does 45% - 54%. Crobat, with his insane speed, outspeeds max speed Jolly Mienshao and Jolly Scrafty at +1. All around, Crobat is great pokemon and a huge part of this team.
Flygon @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature
- Earthquake
- Outrage
- U-turn
- Fire Punch
One of the most common Scarfers in UU, but also a handy revenge killer, scout, and an excellent partner alongside Kingdra. Dual Choice'd Dragon Core plows through most teams lacking a defensive monster or Brongzong. The usually Earthquake, Outrage, and U-turn like every other Flygon, but the Fire Punch is for a back up move to hit Brongzong if Nidoking goes down. Though, there are many times where I had wished it carried Stone Edge instead to hit Rotom-H, Zapdos, and other Flying-types harder. Jolly, just so Scarf Darmanitan and Krookodile aren't an issue. Nothing much else to say, Flygon is just a reliable scarfer.
Xatu @ Leftovers
Trait: Magic Bounce
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SDef / 4 Spd
Calm Nature
- Roost
- U-turn
- Toxic
- Night Shade
This is, prehaps, my favorite pokemon on this team. With Magic Bounce, Xatu is able to keep hazards off my field and get them on the oppositions (for I lack any form of hazards on this team). Xatu, also, acts as a defensive pivot on this team causing switches with Magic Bounce and providing safe switches with U-turn. Sp. Defensive to take on Roserade, Slowbro, and Milotic with ease. Night shade to do a consistent 100 damage on defense walls (most notably Brongzong). Finally, Toxic to wear down pokes that simply won't die to one or more hits (Umbreon, Slowbro, etc.). Without Xatu, this team would be easily defeated by hazard stall, so Xatu is the rook to the King's court.
Cobalion @ Leftovers
Trait: Justified
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spd / 4 HP
Jolly Nature
- Close Combat
- Iron Head
- Stone Edge
- Swords Dance
The shimmering, nearly forgotten, musketeer and the overall sweeper on this team. Cobalion. Cobalion easily sets up on physical hits with 9 restitances, and slightly lower Defense then Metagross. With a jolly nature, outspeeds every non-scarfed pokemon except for Weavile, Max Speed Timid Frolass, Ambipom, Azelf, Crobat, and Raikou. Cobalion is also a great partner with Xatu, being able to take Rock, Ice, Ghost, and Dark moves with it's great natural defense. Snorlax with be sent fleeing at of Cobalion's Swords and open the gates to victory for the Two Kings.
This team is hyper-offensive leeching off the opponent's hazards and causing switchs with huge threats to work towards a Cobalion sweep. Sadly, every team has its flaws. Though I have yet to encounter one, Swords Dance LO'd Weavile with Ice Shard at +2 absolutely destroys this team. Also, I found Sub CM Raikou to very troublesome if it is behind a sub and Flygon has already fainted. I am looking for any feedback at all regarding this team and what I could do to improve it to new heights.
