Call of Duty: Black Ops II

Byrne, in this instance you're very wrong. Lag, even the slightest, is a real influence on twitch shooters. I mean, a really really huge influence. The whole point of shooters like CoD is how quickly and effectively you can get a shot, and the winners of gunfights literally comes down to milliseconds. If you have a perfect connection you can generally be better than a player that would destroy you in a LAN game. Gynaecologist pretty much hits the nail on the head.

Looks like they are finally gearing a CoD towards competitive players with ranked playlists etc.

But I'm getting Halo 4 in November soo

Also I agree with Byrne, you should be able to win 1 on 1 gunfights consistently. Of course you don't want to be fighting people head on all the time either. If your connection is really that bad then it's not the games fault 9.9

I'll definitely grab it, sounds pretty cool. Original Black Ops >>>>>>>>>>>>>> MW3 so I actually expect this one to be pretty solid as well.

Lag compensation.

Bought MW2, spent a billion hours playing online, found it incredibly fun.

Bought Black Ops, spent a few hours online, spent a billion hours playing Zombies because it was fun as fuck.

Bought MW3 on release day, played online for 2 hours, havent played anymore since that day. Worst waste of cash ive ever had.

So yeah not buying this one.

Well, remember that Infinity Ward made MW3, and Treyarch is making Black Ops 2. So I wouldn't be so quick to say "I'm not buying it," if you're basing it off your experience with MW3. Though it is understandable that you'd be a bit skeptical about this title.

Hopefully I'm not going too off topic in asking this, but would any of you be willing to play on Black Ops (PS3) with me sometime? I'm always looking for competent players to party up with.

I would, even though I don't exactly count as "competent" when it comes to online play. (0.2 K/D ratio fuck yeah) Anyway, I do plan on getting the game, so when it does come out, I'd be looking for the same deal there, on PS3.

haha don't worry, I was the same, a normal match for me was like 3 kills 29 deaths...it was so bad that these guys on my team were telling me to take out my disc and break it in half...it was still fun though and now I've improved to where my average is 1.5 kdr so there is hope for you!

edit: if anyone wants to play with me my 360 tag is: jghettoslaya69

I probably won't buy just because I am super burnt out on CoD. The lag and panic knifing alone were all just a bit too much for me. There just always seems to be problems that never get fixed. Although I will say that Treyarch are much better at actually patching things the IW, and I don't really think they deserve as much flak as they get.

I found Black Ops to be much more enjoyable then MW2 and MW3 as the lag was ok most of the time and Treyarch did a good job balancing the guns and stuff out. Are the playlists still active enough to warrant playing it again?

To be honest, COD died for me after WaW, competitive wise of course. I still played competitively during Mw2, especially in quickscoping, but that was much it, they killed the game with all the added things. CoD 4 and WaW made it a very skilled game with fewer options and more thinking. Even with the snaking, it was the only hope you had of actually killing somebody good when you knew you were hot trash.

Don't worry, there are still like 200,000 players on Black Ops at any given time, and it reaches 300,000 during peak times, which is like during the afternoon in North America. I still play it regularly, and it's still pretty competitive, although it's slightly easier to do well. As for Black Ops 2, I'll definitely be getting it, if only for Zombies.

Black Ops was the first and only COD I ever played. I then borrowed MW2 off someone and that was horrible. Utterly horrible. Later I tried MW3 at someone else's and didn't enjoy it too much. I guess I was spoiled by Battlefield 3 and so I couldn't stand some of the basic mechanics of COD such as limited sprint, inability to reload while sprinting, multiple attachment slots / equipment and gadget slots etc. Also gun balance seems to be whack.

That said though, I did enjoy my time on Black Ops. I don't get why people say it sucked, the weapons had decent balance apart from the Famas which they did patch in the end. I also liked the way killstreaks worked in BO. If I have the spare time and spare cash when BO2 comes around, I might give it a shot. But only after seeing reviews and stuff.

Black Buddha, the reason MW2 is horrible is because it is so unbalanced. I mean it was fun, yes, but the fact a lot of stuff were broken made it unplayable without getting frustrated.

Also, the reason I hated Black Ops is because it was just so fucking boring. It's just the feel of the game to me, it doesn't feel that enjoyable. In my opinion, Black Ops had a lot of things bad about it. Zombies, though, at times was fun as hell, I will give it that. Just my opinion though.

Honestly I can say I liked MW3 and still play it. Only CoD game I own. To be honest I don't want to purchase it, but I might give it a spin later.

Agreed. MW3 was really fun to me. I will probably wait until BO2 is on sale to buy it along with constant reviews, because I will still end up playing MW3 more than BO2. When Black Ops was out, I played MW2 more than it. MW2 is full of bullshit, but at least it's fun.

IT HAS DOLPHIN DIVE

My first CoD game was BO, and I think I sunk close to 150 hours into that. I'm kinda excited for this one, but I'll wait until some reviews are out.

@ShiningLatios I'm the kind of guy that gets frustrated playing video games if when I die or whatever it's not my damn fault at all. MW2 wasn't too much fun for me, maybe because I suck or whatever the reason is, it's just not for me. Black Ops on the other hand was like I said more balanced and I had much more fun in Black Ops. Besides, wager matches were great fun too. But I can understand why some people may find it boring. If with BO2 they stick with something similar to Black Ops I might consider it. However at best it will still always be "the other game" I play.

@More Cowbell: Damn, I hate dolphin dive.

@Black Buddha: Trust me, I get very frustrated too. Even if I die once I will get mad. And I know, I get what you mean. It's just preference/opinion. You prefer Black Ops. Same with me except for MW3. I prefer it over BO.

To be honest the only reason I play Call of Duty is due to gimmicky stupid stuff thats fun to use. I dont really use the standard guns if I have to, because its much more fun to pack an Olympia or Dual Desert Eagles. I get bored quickly with all the good guns, not because its too easy (it is) but because there is no satisfaction. I honestly would rather mess around with shotguns and snipers than actually try and come first or actually be a use to the team because lets face it, Call of Duty isnt a team game.

Am I the only one who had fun spamming the One Man Army / Danger Close class combination in Modern Warfare 2? Noob tube spamming undeniably provides me with the most fun in Call of Duty for whatever reason.

My goodness, this got me so mad. Especially when they are doing it when camping...
