RAIN-O-SECT

Here is my team I call it RAIN-O-SECT named after Genesect. This is my first serious OU team that I made all on my own enjoy!!!

Politoed @ Leftovers
Trait: Drizzle
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SDef
Bold Nature
- Scald
- Toxic
- Protect
- Perish Song
Politoed is on the team to set up rain that most of the pokes benefit from. He can also hurt other bulky waters with toxic+protect and stop stall-locks with perish song. He also gets 2x scalds in the rain.

Genesect @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Download
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Modest Nature
- Bug Buzz
- Thunder
- Ice Beam
- U-turn
Genesect is a Pokemon I really wanted to try out. In my opinion he is Scizor on steroids. He has the same great typing (made stronger in the rain with a 2x fire weakness) and the same proficiency at revenge killing. I run the scarf with a modest to get a nice mix of power and speed. With download + 3 special attacks he can score a SpA boost and do some damage. Also he has U-turn for any scouting/to make use of Atk boost. The only things he lacks that scizor has is priority and abillity to maul ttars. Genosect likes the rain for less fire weakness and he gets 100% accurate Thunders. He always comes out (at least to use thunder) after the weather war is won so the acc of t-bolt vs. power of thunder is not and issue.

Latios @ Expert Belt
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature
- Surf
- Psyshock
- Draco Meteor
- Hidden Power [Fire]
Latios is a staple on my team. He comes in mid-late game to clean up or turn the tide for me. The expertbelt allows him to surf or psyshock, but then on the next move drop a draco on a switch in not expecting it. My only thing with him is I'm wondering if I sould replace HP fire with Dragon Pulse, energy ball, or CM or something. He benifits from the rain by having 2x power surfs and I chose timid for maximum speed.

Tornadus-Therian-Forme_BW.gif

Tornadus-Therian @ Leftovers
Trait: Regenerator
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature
- Hurricane
- U-turn
- Heat Wave
- Focus Blast
Thunderous-T is another guy I wanted to try out. He has heatwave fro netting early game ferrothorns/steels (before the rain comes out), and focus blast to hurt ferros after the rain comes out. His main job though is to come in and spam hurricane in the rain. Finally u-turn takes advantage of his speed and regenerator to try to be a scout on occasion, and for general hit and run. Tornadous benefits from the rain by getting 100% Hurricanes. He has timid to capitolise on his new-found speed.

Rotom-Wash @ Choice Specs
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature
- Hydro Pump
- Volt Switch
- trick
- Thunderbolt
Rotom-W is a recent addition. Before I had tentacruel to spin away rocks and spikes, but I feel like tentacreul and politoed did the same job almost and were redundant. He is there as a counter to other water types or politoeds, and to do hit and run damage with voltswitches. Trick can stop blisseys, dusclops, and chansey from raining on my parade. Hydro-pump and thunderbolt are just dual stabs to use (especially rain boosted hydropump). I went for all offensive on this rotom but I'm wondering if he'd be better for me as a special wall or some kind of specially defensive supporter.

385.gif

Jirachi @ Leftovers
Trait: Serene Grace
EVs: 252 HP / 224 SDef / 32 Spd
Careful Nature
- Wish
- Body Slam
- Iron Head
- Stealth Rock
Jirachi is my "lead" I explain what he does below in my early game action plan. He is rarely out in the rain, but gets regular damage from fire because of it.

As for my plan of action in battle:
9 times out of 10 I lead with Jirachi and body slam to cause paralysis then iron head to para-flinch them into a switch, and hopefully paralyze the switch in too. After 'rachi cause enough hax I'll throw down rocks and either wish pass to get a team mate in safe or just sack/death fodder 'rachi.

Next is usually hard to say what comes next but my plan is really formulated on an as is basis. If the opponent has Ferrothorn it usually comes out to try to wall Jirachi, in witch case I send out Tornadus-T to heatwave it. If they don't have a ferrothorn then I just send out politoad and get rain up.

So any advice for my first serous competitive team? And if you need anymore info or I forgot something just say so ;) ;) ;)

Hi

This is a cool team however I think you're going to be somewhat weak to entry hazards. Ferrothorn in particular gets an absolute ton of opportunities to set up on your team, since -2 HP Fire from Latios in the Rain does lol damage, and it completely shuts down Rotom-W as well as being able to set up on Jirachi. If it absorbs a Body Slam from Jirachi and gets paralyzed, it will also be able to up up very easily on Politoed as Scald won't burn it. If it is on an opposing Sand team, you will be losing the weather war quickly as Politoed can't afford to get worn down quickly by multiple layers of Spikes, especially if there's the threat of an opposing Choice Band Tyranitar with Pursuit. Not only Politoed absolutely despises hazards though, this is also true for Genesect, who will switch in often, and Jirachi who needs all of its HP for maximum walling capabilities. I suggest you swap your Rotom-W for a Choice Specs Starmie. While Starmie is still walled by Ferrothorn, it will also be able to cripple it with Trick and more importantly, Rapid Spin the hazards away once you've tricked the Specs. This will ensure Politoed, Jirachi and Genesect stay alive for a much longer time while also helping Tornadus-T with its weakness to Stealth Rock. Starmie still keeps Rotom-W's devastating power, but with added Speed which is nice.

Moving these 32 Speed EVs to Defense on Jirachi would be an excellent choice. Honestly, the 244 Speed tier is pretty bad since no one uses max Speed Tyranitar without a Scarf which outspeeds all of the 244 mons anyway. The Defense investment, on the other hand, ensures Jirachi takes Choice Banded Outrages much better, most importantly Haxorus', which will be able to 2HKO it without it. This would mean you'd have absolutely no safe switch in to Haxorus, allowing it to net a kill every time you face it if you face a semi competent player.

I don't think that you're exploiting Tornadus-T's main qualities to the maximum, namely a super strong Hurricane, an ability to deal with the best Special Walls and Regenerator. Sure, Leftovers gives it survivability, but Regenerator usually ensures Tornadus-T can stick around for the entire match. Slapping on a Life Orb instead makes Tornadus-T a much more fearsome threat as you give it the ability to 2HKO stuff such as Rotom-W who resist it, and bulkier things like Ferrothorn will also get 2HKOed by Hurricane. Then, you can drop Focus Blast for Superpower and use a Naive nature instead. That allows Tornadus-T to have a very reliable way to OHKO Tyranitar, as well as giving it a powerful option against Blissey. Focus Blast misses very often anyway and doesn't do a lot that Superpower can't. I don't think you lose a lot in a trade like that which makes you gain so much.

Lastly I think you should be using a different spread on Genesect. You want to keep its U-turns as strong as possible to give you a nice way to benefit from Attack boosts, while also being able to outspeed stuff and have a powerful Special Attacker. While your current set allows Genesect to hit very hard with Bug Buzz and Thunder, its U-turns will also be depressingly weak and won't slam Blissey and Tyranitar as hard as it could. Using a spread of 92 Atk / 252 SpA / 164 Speed with a Naive nature instead gives Genesect a strong U-turn, powerful Special Attacks and enough Speed to outspeed what you want it to, which will be more efficient than your current spread.

Overall that's a cool team though, good job on that n_n. Here's the set you should use:
121.gif

Starmie @ Choice Specs
Natural Cure
Timid
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
~Hydro Pump
~Thunder
~Rapid Spin
~Trick

Good luck!

I would run Thunder/Water Pulse on Jirachi over Body Slam/Iron Head. With thunder you lose the ability to paralyze ground types, but you gain the ability to paralyze ghosts. Ground types are hit Super Effectively with Water Pulse so there is no need to paralyze them. You now cant hit grass types and the Latis hard, but Celebi is a free switch to Tornadus and the Latis hate being paralyzed. Gastrodon is a problem, but it can be lured in with Politoad or Rotom.

As for Latios, i feel he is the weakest link. All he is is Ferothorn bait and he is semi-redundant with Tornadus. My suggestion is to replace him with Terrakoin. Terra will help you check sun teams easier as well as killing Ferro. Keledo is also a good choice but that would leave you with a massive electric weakness. I think you should try a 4 attack life orb set with either Pokemon. Good luck and nice team

Hey there awon nice team!

Firstly i second jirachis suggestions of Starmie>Rotom Wash because your teamis quite weak to hazards and specs Starmie provides similar power and typing to Rotom. I am just naming some minor nitpicks here but seeing as this is a rain team your Jirachi could still provide paraflinching support with the uch more powerful Thunder>Body Slam with a Sassy nature This gives you a higher damahing move in Thunder and a more effective move to use against apposing rain teams. It still has a 60% paralrysis rate after Serene Grace just like Body Slam.

Also regarding Tornadus-T you are running Heat Wave on Tornadus-T. This is not really prefered as most steel types get demolished by Hurricane or Focus Blast. After all with Scizor and Forretress's secondary Bug-Typing they get completely handeled by his Hurricane. Not to mention that rain weakens the power of Heat Wave. A much better opton is going withGrass Knot>Heat Wave Because Grass Knot destoys Starmie, Rotom-W and Gastrodon three common threats to rain.

good luck with the team i hope i helped!

Hey man, nice team you have here! However, i would suggest to use a specially defensive Rotom set instead of the specs one.
You have Tornadus and Latios there encharged of the special attacks, but you need a phazer and physical sweeper´s stopper.

Alos, you lack of physical attackers. You can try max hp Landorus-T instead of Jirachi.

Rotom-W @Leftovers
Levitate
252 hp / 220 sdef / 32 spd
Bold Nature
-Will-o-wisp
-Pain Split
-Hydro Pump
-Volt Switch

Landorus-T @Leftovers
Intimidate
252 hp / 252 spd / 4def
Adamant Nature
-Stealth Rock
-U turn
-Earthquake
-Stone Edge

Hope i helped!

Grass Knot destoys Starmie, Rotom-W and Gastrodon three common threats to rain.

good luck with the team i hope i helped!

~Superpowerdude

Starmie is 1HKO'd by Hurricane, Rotom only takes like 20 base power from Grass Knot, and Gastrodon is 2HKO'd by Hurricane and cant 1HKO back. Taunt or Rain Dance are probably more effective.

Thank you all for the great suggestions. This helps me out a ton. I'll get all this stuff on my team tonight and start testing later this week.
