Raging Sun

Hi ! Been a while since I posted here ._. I haven't played in like 4 months . Keep that In mind cause this Is an old team haah . And I would really wanna make this team better . Thanks [:
Well I was a bit tired of all the Rain teams going around and I noticed that Sun weather isn't the most used . Which kinda sucks because of It's amazing potential . With Volcarona and Chlorophyll users .
THE TEAM [:

Ninetales_BW.gif

Ninetales @ Leftovers
Ability: Drought
EVs: 252 HP / 120 SpD / 136 Spd
Nature: Calm
- Flamethrower
- Wil-O-Wisp
- Roar
- Protect

You can't have a sun team without Ninetales .
I really like this set . I use Flamethrower over Fire Blast because I miss way more times than I hit and when the times I need Fire Blast to hit . It misses ._.
Wil-O-Wisp To cripple other Pokemon and when my opponent may want to send in his weather inducer to try to stop my sun . It's always nice to cripple them . I switched out Sunny Day for roar for Pokemon that might try to set up on me which seeing the rest of my team could really give me problems . I run protect to be able to get some leftovers recovery and to scout out what my opponent might do .
The ev's are for Flamethrower to hit hard and for me to have a decent amount of speed and HP .

051dugtrio.gif

Dugtrio @ Focus Sash
Abillity : Arena Trap
EVs : 252 Atk / 252 / Spd / 4 HP
Nature : Jolly
-Earthquake
-Stealth Rocks
-Stone Edge
-Reversal

Oh how I love this thing . It traps Tyranitar , Abomasnow , Politoed . And Many other threats to my team and with such High Speed It can hit many many things that don't have a Choice Scard and It has decent attack to hit them with .
I have Earthquake for STAB and because It hits Tyranitar , Heatran , Jirachi and many other threats .
I now have Stealth Rock On this Dugtrio so that I may be almost assured to set them up and so that I may be able to put my Donphan to better use .
I run Stone Edge because it hit's things like Dragons and Flying Types and has good coverage with Earthquake .
I run Reversal because of how amazingly useful it is on this Pokemon . Most of the time I Usually use Hone Claws then my opponent's Pokemon hits me and brings me down to my sash and then I destroy them with a really strong Reversal .
My Ev's are for Max speed to be able to outspeed a nice amount of the metagame . And Max attack to deal a nice amount of damage to my opponent.

Heatran.gif

Heatran @ Air Balloon
Abillity : Flash Fire
EVs : 252 SpA / 252 Spd / 4 HP
Nature : Timid
- Sunny Day
- Fire Blast
- SolarBeam
- Hidden Power [Ice]

This is a great Pokemon all around . It's typing is great it is a steel type which is great already Haha . It has good stats and can be a big threat when you play it nicely . I use it also to take some dragon's Draco Meteors and Outrages . And Hurricanes Cough - 'Tornadus - T' - Cough and With the Unusual Magma Storm I can use it as a trapper as well . [:
I use sunny day for when other weather inducers want to switch in . Or if by chance my Ninetales dies most people will just Give up their weather inducer so when they do I surprise them with sunny day and they lose the weather war . [:
I use Fire Blast Now over Magma Storm because Eventhough I liked what it did with Trapping other Pokemon . It missed when I needed it the most . But not with Fire Blast It actually hits almost all the time . Kinda surprised me ._.
I run SolarBeam for Ground Types , Water Types and many things that threaten my Heatran . Besides It's a strong nice grass move .
I Run Hidden power Ice because If I didn't I wouldn't be able to hit Dragon's at all ._. and it has great coverage with the rest of my moves as well [:

I use Max SpA Ev's and Max Speed Ev's so that I may be a bit fast and also hit things nice and hard .

232donphan.gif

Donphan @ Leftovers
Abillity : Sturdy
EVs : 252 HP / 96 Atk / 160 Def
Nature : Impish
- Earthquake
- Ice Shard
- Rapid Spin
- Roar

I like Donphan . Not only is it a great defensive Pokemon but can hit pretty hard as well , It is my rapid spinner because My Volcarona Really doesn't appreciate Stealth Rocks . Or any entry Hazzard for that matter . And It is also my Stealth Rocker . It's a great Pokemon all Around .
I Use Earthquake because It's a great STAB Move and hit's a nice amount of the OU Metagame .
I use Ice Shard for dragons and Gliscors and Genies and what not [: And it gives me priority which is a great thing because from what I've seen in my first 'Back in the game' matches . The whole thing was about speed . Many many Pokemon with Choice Scarfs and what not .
I NEED Rapid Spin so that my Volcarona can do work [:
I Now run Roar also for Pokemon that may want to set up on me and also because It'll phase out other Pokemon and allow me to get Stealth Rock Damage .
My EVs are for Donphan to have good Bulk and nice amount of attack .

Venusaur_BW.gif

Venusaur @ Life Orb
Abillity : Chlorophyll
EVs : 252 SpA / 252 Spd / 4 Hp
Nature : Timid
- Growth
- Giga Drain
- Sludge Bomb
- Hidden Power [Fire]

One of my Main Sweepers [:
I love him Haaha . After one Growth It's almost unstoppable ! It has really good type coverage with Sludge Bomb and HP Fire Since a STAB Sludge Bomb after a growth does really good damage to most of the Metagame . And HP Fire for those steel Types that resist both my STABS and HP Fire is like a Pseudo STAB Anyways [:
I use Growth because It's just great . It gives me +2 In Atk and SpA in the sun . And with the Chlorophyll speed boost and Life Orb it can become and all around great sweeper .
I use Giga Drain as a form of recovery for me to gain some health after all the Life Orb Recoil .
I use Sludge Bomb because it's a great STAB and Hit's things pretty hard . Even Dragons Hah .
I use Hidden Power Fire for coverage on Steel Types . And it gives me a great Pseudo STAB in the sun .
My Ev Spread is for Max Speed and Max SpA for me to hit things hard and be fast . [Sorry I can't go into much Detail . It's just kinda . Standard :p ]

volcarona_animated_sprite_by_devinwarriors-d390ae6_4da99491ead73.gif

Volcarona @ Leftovers
Abillity : Flame Body
EVs : 116 HP / 142 Def / 252 Spd
Nature : Bold
- Quiver Dance
- Fiery Dance
- Bug Buzz
- Morning Sun
I absolutely love this Pokemon , Even after one Quiver Dance it causes all kinds of Destruction and havoc everywhere it goes . It's just amazing . Plain and simple . Just so powerful and I love using it in a bulky way because it makes it great to take hits and become even easier to boost up .
I use Quiver Dance because it boosts my stats alot ! Extra Speed , SpA , and SpD . Wow . So great and for a Pokemon like this it's just like an added bonus [:
I use Fiery Dance over Fire Blast because It's a great STAB And in the Sun It becomes even stronger ! And that chance of a SpA boost is always nice and helpful .
Bug Buzz because It's a great STAB Move and hit's Psychic Pokemon and Dark Pokemon really well along with Grass Pokemon . [:
Now I've begun using Morning sun so that I may Have good Recovery and whatnot [:
My EV spread is for me to take some physical hits and still survive and have nice speed and bulk for it to survive [:

Well that's it ! [:
Any help would be very much appreciated . I haven't played in a while so I would also appreciate some feedback on the new Metagame [:
Please And Thank You [:

Hi! Nice team you have there. However, there's still room for improvement in my opinion!

I noticed that, if your Volcarona goes down to whatever reason (actually not so hard, since it hates SR so much), CM Latias can completely wall your team and sweep after a couple of CMs. HP Ice from Heatran is not doing much (if Latias is at +1, it won't break its Substitutes most of the times...). Again, Ninetales can't do anything if Latias is behind a Sub. Ice Shard on Donphan is so weak that have a whopping 0% chance to break said sub...and Venusaur can't break through Latias' gigantic Special Defense after a couple of boosts barring lucky critical hits. To fix that problem, I suggest changing your Ninetales set to a Specially Defensive variant with Roar. SpD Ninetales is an awesome check to Latias, since it won't take much from Dragon Pulse even at +1, and can Roar out the Dragon without many problems. Also, you already have Heatran as a Sunny Day user, that can lure out Politoed, trap, Sunny Day in its face and SolarBeam to death. This makes Sunny Day on Ninetales less useful, and since it can already handle Tyranitar and Abomasnow without it (WoW the first, just roast the second), it's not a big loss.

Calm | 252 HP / 120 SpD / 136 Spe

- Will-O-Wisp
- Roar
- Protect / Hypnosis / Pain Split

Also, your team is very, very weak to Water attacks if you lose the weather war and cannot keep sunshine on the field. Only Venusaur will be able to sponge said attacks, but it's a sitting duck after Clorophyll is "removed", and will be taken down by Ice attacks that are everywhere in this meta. Every other member of the team is weak to Water, and will be destroyed by things like any Keldeo, Scarf Toed, heck even strong Ground moves are a nuisance since nothing into your team is immune / resistant to them (well, Heatran, but popping the Balloon is incredibly easier these days with all those Genesect around). To fix that, you could consider changing your Volcarona (IMHO a weak link, it's too vulnerable to hazards even with Spin support and does stack weaknesses with other team members) with a Dragon of some sort. Dragonite and Salamence both enjoy sunshine, since they have access to more powerful Fire coverage, they can use Spin support you give them with Donphan, and they can sponge Water attacks just fine, while being immune to Ground. I prefer a Offensive DD Dragonite in this case, since the sunshine helps it even more (it removes damaging weather, allowing easier mantainment of Multiscale). Doing that change, you mantain your offensive prowess since we all know what Dragonite is capable to do after a Dragon Dance, but you gain much better defensive synergy (and coincidentally, a priority move).

149.png

Dragonite @ Lum Berry | Multiscale
Adamant | 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
- Dragon Dance
- Outrage
- Extremespeed
- Fire Punch

Finally, a couple of smaller observation. Run Timid on your Venusaur; while you lose a little bit of power, the ability to outspeed Latios and Latias with a Scarf is invaluable and can save you some games; furthermore, I don't remember any notable OHKO you'd lose with Timid. Also, I dislike Ice Shard on defensive Donphan; either add some Attack EVs to make it worthwhile, or substitute it with Roar / Knock Off / Toxic that are more useful on a defensive set.

Good luck for your team!

Hi

Cool team man. First off, I think that hone claws is not a very good move on dugtrio at all. Its oppurtunites to get a hone claws up are very limited with its very poor bulk, and even if it does manage to get the boost, it will easily be revenged by the oppositon, and its still very weak and easy to beat. Instead, I think using Stealth Rock > Hone Claws would be great here. Dugtrio onces hes caught a tyranitar can always get stealth Rock up if his sash was intact, and from there still ravage tyranitar with what should be at that point a full power reversal. The focus sash makes duggy a great setter of Stealth Rock in general, as with focus sash you can automatically get them off and activate your reversal in the process, and this can be done on many top meta threats as well. Also, using the IV's on dugtrio like 21HP/ 0Def/ 0SpD allow you to hit full power reversal quicker, and let you hit a good HP number for the move as well, and since you want that full power as quick as possible, this spread is the best way to achieve that.

Now that duggy has Stealth Rock,Donphan can give the slot up to something more useful for it. I think the best option in this slot is Roar, as many pokemon will attempt to set up on Donphan, the most noticable ones for your team being Gyarados and Calm Mind Latias, Roar stops you from being set up bait at all as you will quickly be getting rid of their boosts and forcing them to take more hazards damage in the process. As Ganj said, Donphans Ice Shard without investment does pathetic damage. Even to a 4X super effective target, you will rarely come close to even 2HKO'ing, and they can just steam roll right though you and lay the hurt on your team. A big threat to your team that is an example of this right now is Sheer Force Rock Polish Landorus, who can boost up on dugtrio or even ninetales if the user is willing to take a burn, and once set up he demolishes you right now. To help give Donphan a bit more power that he greatly appreciates, I think giving up a bit of bulk for a spread of 252HP/ 80Atk/ 176Def with an impish nature would be great here. That spread allows donphan to 2HKO landorus-I, which is great and it gives your Earthquake a noticeable boost in power too.

Now, I don't think your using volcarona to its full potential here. I would use Morning Sun > Hidden Power on your set, as what makes volcarona so great his its abilty to utilize its bulk in sun with its amazing recovery move to have lots of set up oppurtunites, and recover off Stealth Rock damage if the opponent had rocks down. Finally, seconding Timid On Venusaur for the reason that it lets you revenge Cloyster after its shell smashes, which otherwise sweeps your team right now after a smash

Thanks I'll be sure to try those things out !
Well now making my Dugtrio a Stealth Rocker . I don't think I'd need Donphan as much so I was even thinking of changing it for another good defensive Pokemon like Deoxys - D Instead so that I can get some support with It's nice bulk and good speed and also lay down spikes with it But I would lose a spinner leaving my Volcarona really vulnerable . I'd even be willing to get rid of it and Tty out GanJ4IF's Idea of the Dragonite but Idk .
