Welcome to my first RMT on smogon. Today I want you to rate a sun team that I use.
Ninetails @ Leftovers
Trait: Drought
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SDef / 252 Spd
Timid Nature
- Sunny day
- Solar Beam
- Fire blast
- HP Rock
All sun teams need Ninetails. Ninetails is essential for the sun, which is what binds this team together. Sp.def and speed may seem weird on the same set, but it works. Sunny day is to screw politoeds thinking they can switch in freely. Solarbeam is a strong non-STAB attack which hits things that resist fire blast hard. Fire blast is my STAB of choice, under the sun, it can be lethal. HP rock is for one sole purpose: Volcarona.
Venusaur @ Big Root
Trait: Chlorophyll
EVs: 252 SAtk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Modest Nature
- Giga drain
- HP fire
- Sludge bomb
- Growth
This is my first sweeper. Venusaur under the sun is insanely fast. I chose modest over timid for more power. Giga drain is STAB of choice, with big root, it heals a lot. HP fire is for steels and things that resist Giga drain. Sludge bomb is for dragons. It allows venusaur to get past roadblocks like salamence, and latios.
Genesect @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Download
EVs: 80 Atk / 252 SAtk / 178 Spd
Hasty Nature
- U-turn
- Flamethrower
- Ice beam
- T-bolt
Genesect was chosen for the fact that he is a great scarfer. But what makes him so deadly is download. Upon switching in, he gets a boost based on the foes weaker defense. Combine that with perfect coverage, decent stats, and speed, we got ourselves on hell of a revenger. U-turn is momentum, as well as STAB of choice. Flamethrower, Ice beam, and Thunderbolt give him near perfect coverage. Hasty over naive due to the fact he might need to tank a draco meteor every once in awhile.
Breloom @ Life Orb
Trait: Technician
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 HP / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature
- Mach punch
- Low sweep
- Bullet seed
- Spore
When you play weather, you have to play against it, too. Breloom works great here. Upon game freak giving this bastard technician, he turned into a wrecking machine. The Ev's max speed and attack, and I chose adamant over jolly, and while the speed drop is not noticeable, the power drop is. Mach punch is the move I use most. It's priority, and has 90 BP factoring in STAB. Low sweep is his strongest move, sitting at a whopping 135 BP after STAB. THe best part is it can slow down many switch-ins, often putting then in KO range. Spore has caused rage quits before, and it's easy to see why. It's a 100% accurate sleep move. Meaning you have to play safe. Bullet seed (If hitting 5 times) is the strongest move on this set, and is used to hit things that resist fighting.
Dragonite (M) @ Lum Berry
Trait: Multiscale
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Adamant (+Atk, -SAtk)
-Dragon Dance
-Outrage
-Extremespeed
-Earthquake
Volcarona was originally here. I changed it to Dragonite to counter my heatran problem. Dragonite is bulky, and strong. Dragon dance boosts attack and speed, allowing for some major damage. Espeed is powerful priority. EQ is mainly a coverage move, hitting steels, and heatran, hard.

Heatran (F) @ Air Balloon
Trait: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 SAtk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Fire Blast
- Earth Power
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Stealth Rock
Forretress was originally here. Forretress made me more heatran weak, so now I have one of my own. Fire blast is insanely powerful in sun. Earth power is for opposing heatran. HP ice is for things like dragonss, and gliscor. Stealth rock is needed on every team, so here it is.
So please tell me any errors you see, and thanks in advance!
Threats:
Heatran: Really the only MAJOR threat to my team. If you see any others, let me know!
