trying to breed good IV dratini, help/advice please...

okay, I've been breeding dratinis for a while and none of them seem to have good IV stats. there stats at lvl 1 are 5~6. I mean how do those IV breeders do it? I just get lost reading all these info on IV breeding and stuff. Only way I'm thinking for breeding good IV dratinis is finding a good IV ditto, (which is hard to trade for) and keep breeding them. Please poke breeders, share your Dittos!
 
Find a Jolly Ditto with 31 IVs in Attack / Speed, make it hold Everstone, and breed it with a Dratini that knows Dragon Dance. I think that is the most ordinary way, although most people here are very greedy and won't share their ditto's unless you have something good to offer, so it is difficult. Consider mass catching them in Emerald and transferring them to D / P
 
Your problem is you're checking stats at LV6. They're almost ALWAYS 5 or 6 at level one. Check IVs at a higher level.
 
Just catch a million Dittos, and of the ones of the correct nature, look for the telltale "alert to sounds" and "likes to thrash about." You'll have to IV test them though, to confirm that the IVs are 31, and not 26, 21, 15, 11, or 6.

Also, checking for each level's progression up to 10 will narrow it down to a range of 2 for MOST stats. Nine rare candies aren't hard to come by, and as long as you start with ones that show the top of the range for level 1 you've eliminated at least 50% of the non-favorable ones right there.

Also, knowing what the personality traits (Proud of power, etc) are for the stats you want will help.
