UU RMT

Introduction
Hello RMT, this is my second RMT thread, so I'm still pretty new to this kind of stuff. I usually play OU, but I've gotten a bit bored of all the weather, so I decided to take a break and play in UU for a little bit. I've really enjoyed playing UU, probably even more than playing OU, so I decided that I should get a good team together as I become more familiar with the UU metagame. I've put together a ragtag team, but there are still many flaws with it. So here we go, this is my current UU team:

Gligar_Card_large.PNG

Gligar @ Eviolite
Ability: Immunity
EVs: 252 HP, 252 Def, 4 Atk
IVs: 30 Spd
Nature: Impish
-Earthquake
-Roost
-U Turn
-Stealth Rock

This is a pretty basic Gligar set. The only thing that separates itself from the standard set is U-Turn. Since Gligar forces so many switches due to it's fantastic bulk, U-Turn allows me to grab the momentum and get to pick who I switch into after my opponent switches out. Why 30 Speed IVs? So if I'm up against another Gligar with U-Turn, I'll always get switch advantage if they want to use U-Turn or just switch out. Pretty rare, I know, but it's good to be prepared.
Thank you, rlyn99, for letting me know that I can use Immunity on my Gligar

My-neighbor-Snorlax.jpg

Snorlax @ Leftovers
Ability: Thick Fat
EVs: 208 HP, 124 Def, 176 SpD
Nature: Careful
-Rest
-Sleep Talk
-Whirlwind
-Body Slam

Ah yes, the Gligar and Snorlax (GligSnor?) combo. It's simple, yet so effective - they go together like peanut butter and jelly. Gligar sets up the rocks, and Snorlax shuffles the enemy team around with Whirlwind. Snorlax can easily take any ice attack thrown at Gligar because of the Thick Fat ability, and Gligar can laugh in the face of nearly any fighting type. The moveset is pretty self-explanatory. Rest is for a full heal, and Sleep Talk is so I'm not completely useless while I'm asleep. Whirlwind is great when rocks are up, so I can rack up damage on the enemy team, and Body Slam is powerful in the hands of Snorlax, even when unboosted. The 30% Paralysis chance is also great. If you want to see this Snorlax in action, go here

zapdos-5.png

Zapdos @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 Spd, 252 SAtk, 4 HP
Nature: Timid
-U Turn
-Thunderbolt
-Hidden Power [Ice]
-Heat Wave

Zapdos has proved to be a great addition to my team. if you scroll down below you'll find a post from me that goes in-depth on why Zapdos was chosen. U Turn was chosen over Volt Switch because U Turn is guaranteed to hit, unlike Volt Switch, which any Ground type can come into and put me in a sticky situation. Also, having Volt Switch and Thunderbolt wouldn't be to great. Speaking of Thunderbolt, this move is really powerful. Zapdos pulls off many late game sweeps with this. HP Ice and Heat Wave are for coverage for the Ground and Steel types that would want to wall me. It's important that the nature is Timid so I can speed tie with Jolly Choice Scarf Flygon and have a chance of killing it with HP Ice.

EP270_Azumarill_de_Vincent_usando_Cola_f%C3%A9rrea.png

Azumarill @ Leftovers
Ability: Huge Power
EVs: 252 HP, 252 Atk, 4 Spd
Nature: Adamant
-Substitute
-Focus Punch
-Waterfall
-Ice Punch

Azumarill is adorable. An Azumarill behind a Sub with max Attack and Huge Power, however, is truly frightening. All you need to do is get a Sub up, and you're guaranteed to ruin at least one Pokemon's day. Focus Punch, even without STAB, does large amounts of damage to anything that doesn't resist it. I have made a few changes of my own, and have swapped Aqua Jet for Waterfall. Ice Punch remains so I can hit Roserade harder, and do good damage to things that will want to switch into Azumarill to scare it out, such as Zapdos.

Chandelure @ Leftovers
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 Spd, 252 SpA, 4 HP
Nature: Modest
-Substitute
-Fire Blast
-Energy Ball
-Shadow Ball

Chandelure is an amazing powerhouse. There are plenty of things that you can switch into, and since Chandelure causes so many switches, a Substitute set is perfect for it. Fire Blast is for insane amounts of power. Shadow Ball is for a second STAB move. Energy Ball is a great coverage move that hits many popular Pokemon, such as Blastoise, hard.

Hitmontop_anime.png

Hitmontop @ Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 HP, 252 Def, 4 SpD
Nature: Impish (+Def, -SpAtk)
-Rapid Spin
-Close Combat
-Sucker Punch
-Toxic

Because my team has a large weakness to entry hazards, Hitmontop, who is one of the most reliable Rapid Spinners in the tier, has been placed on my team. Rapid Spin, of course, is the main reason why he is here. With the exception of Gligar and Rotom-Mow, everyone on my team is hurt by entry hazards, especially Chandelure and Azumarill, who come in many times during the game to attempt to set up a substitute and start some havoc. Close Combat is a great STAB that can do decent damage, even with no Atk EVs. I originally had Hi Jump Kick, but having a chance of missing and losing half of your health is scary. Since Hitmontop is fairly slow, Sucker Punch gives him a strong priority move to use, especially against ghost types hoping to wall me. Toxic is for against other walls and so I'm not set up bait for things that resist fighting, such as Bulk Up/Swords Dance Heracross.
Thank you, Iminyourcloset, for the great suggestion!

Heracross and Nidoking are indeed annoying for your team. Luckily, Rotom-Mow barely outspeeds Heracross. Nidoking is an ass. Other than thar, Snorlax's Body Slam is really good to have around. I dunno how to handle Nidoking for this team, but finding out how to take it out would be good. Other than that, it looks like an okay team.

Thanks for the feedback, Nidoking definitely is a threat to my team. My best bet for facing it is to hope to wall it with Snorlax, and send out Rotom-Mow or Azumarill to revenge kill if the Nidoking manages to muscle it's way past Snorlax. Rotom-Mow's awkward base 86 speed is great, because it allows me to outspeed both Heracross and Nidoking, even if they're scarfed.

You might want to change your Gligar to one with an Immunity ability, since this prevents pokemon like Hitmontop from Toxicing it.

You may also want a spinner or Xatu, since Chandelure is an important part of your team, and is extremely vulnerable to entry hazards.

Speaking of Chandelure, you might want to consider swapping your Snorlax out for an eviolite Porygon2, since it can actually do something to Chandy. Also, Porygon2 easily deals with Nidoking. The set:

Porygon2@Eviolite
Trait: Trace
EVs: 252 HP/252 Spdef/4 Spatk
Calm nature
-Ice Beam
- Discharge
- Recover
- Thunder wave

Hello....
Firstly, I like your team. The main thing I see though: You have no spinner/Xatu. This isn't good, especially with only one SR resist, and 4/6 pokemon are vulnerable to spikes. Also, your offensive prowess is all setup (I'm counting sub as setup). This can be a bit hard, because it's honestly really useful if someone can just come in and be menacing. In an attempt to kill two birds with one stone, I would suggest replacing Scrafty for Hitmontop. Now, you have two choices: Typical defensive spinner, or Technitop w/ Rapid Spin. In my opinion, either is viable, so it would be totally your choice.
For defensive Top:
@Lefties
Trait: Intimidate
252 HP/ 252 Def/4Spdef +Def -Spatk
-Close Combat
-Sucker Punch (some people put Toxic here? I say no to that personally)
-Rapid Spin
-Foresight/Mach Punch (I suggest Foresight, just involves simple predicting; Lol at Froslass/Spinblockers)
For Technitop, you should refer to the page; I have little experience with that.

The only problem I really see is lack of Psychic resist/immunity... This can't be that bad though; Psychic attacking moves aren't too terribly common, but you can think what you want on that.
Otherwise, this team seems pretty awesome. Good Luck battling ;>

EDIT: As for Rotom-Mow, I say you keep him (it?) for now, but I have an idea: Change his set to specs maybe, and add Shadow Ball over Trick? With this, he'll still outspeed non-scarf Chandy (which is actually fairly possible) and with Shadow Ball, he might KO. (252SpAtk Choice Specs Rotom (Neutral) Shadow Ball vs 4HP/0SpDef Flash Fire Chandelure (Neutral): 94% - 111% (248 - 292 HP). Guaranteed 2HKO. 68% chance to OHKO) it's definite after SR; this isn't possible with only Choice Scarf though. So... I honestly don't know, losing a scarfer can hurt, so think on that pretty hard. (just did calc, Scarf will never KO with Shadow Ball, even after SR; max is 74% :/)

Thanks for the rating! Hitmontop is a nice addition to my team, and Chandelure really enjoys not having any Stealth Rocks in it's way. However, now that I no longer have Scrafty, Rotom-Mow is beginning to feel like the weakest link in my team. Is he alone viable in UU, or should I replace him with something better?

In the spot of Rotom-Mow why not just use the slot for a revenge killer? Some that come to mind are Victini, Heracross, Krookodile, Nidoking can be good here also. If you just need the grass coverage then chance the scarf to the Choice specs set closet sugested with shadow ball over trick.

I see you changed your team fairly dramatically. I just wanted to say that I edited my first post talking about Rotom-Mow, in case you hadn't noticed (I see you put that it might become specs, but just wanted to make sure), and also rate it again based on your changes. Only thing is: Dat Toxic. You have it on two pokemon, which is at least one too many, in my opinion. Let Azu get Ice Punch back at least; it really needs it, as Roserade is just a super-meanie, and for Hitmontop, that's your choice. As For Top, I'd say keep CC; you'll be moving second most of the time anyway, although it can kinda force a switch. (and btw, you're welcome, I'm just happy to be rating such a nice team)

You were certainly right, Azumarill does love Ice Punch. Originally I thought I'd just need Waterfall alongside of Focus Punch, but when I saw that a STAB super effective Waterfall from a max attack Azumarill usually does less than half to the standard Gligar set, I thought that Ice Punch would be good to have. Funny story about Hitmontop and Hi Jump Kick, I lost a match completely because Hitmontop missed a Hi Jump Kick against a Life Orb+Sheer Force Darmanitan. The recoil got me down to yellow health, so they could easily kill me from there with Earthquake. My Gligar was dead at the time, so the Darmanitan easily swept through the rest of my team.
As for Rotom-Mow, I've been thinking about it for a while. The following list is why I have him on my team

-Need of Revenge Killer

-Need of a way to deal with Water Types

-Need of a way to deal with Ground Types

-Scouting/Gaining Momentum

-Late Game Sweeper (?)

The reason why there's a question mark next to the last one is because his two STABs, Volt Switch and Leaf Storm, aren't really good for sweeping multiple Pokemon. Now I've been thinking about other UU Pokemon that can do most/all of the things on that list, and I have come to the conclusion that Choice Scarfed Zapdos may be a good replacement for Rotom-Mow. Here's the set that I'd use:

145.png
Zapdos @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Pressure
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature
- U-turn
- Thunderbolt
- Heat Wave
- Hidden Power [Ice]/[Grass]

Looking back to the list, for a moment...
-Need of Revenge Killer
With a base 100 Speed, Zapdos will outspeed many common threats. With a Timid Nature, Zapdos can speed tie with Jolly Choice Scarfed Flygon and kill it with Hidden Power Ice.

-Need of a way to deal with Water Types
Pretty self explanatory. The only water types that would give me trouble would be Swampert and his Water/Ground type friends, though if I decide to run HP Grass I can easily get rid of them.

-Need of a way to deal with Ground Types
It's kind of a lose-lose situation here. I'm immune to Ground types, but I can't do much to them, and most Ground types carry a rock-type move that can take me out. However, I do have Gligar, Hitmontop, and Azumarill (or even Snorlax, if it's a specially attacking Ground type) to deal with them.

-Scouting/Gaining Momentum
U-turn.

-Late Game Sweeper
Zapdos has great power, with it's base 125 Sp Atk. Once threats are taken out (Ground Types such as Rhyperior, other Electric types such as Raikou, etc.) I can rampage through a team with Thunderbolts.

I've been testing out Zapdos on my team in place of Rotom-Mow and have been fairly pleased with the results. The only problem with having Zapdos in place of Rotom-Mow is that my team will now have two weaknesses to rock. However, I have Hitmontop to spin away Stealth Rocks, Azumarill to scare rock-types away, and Gligar, who laughs at most non-super effective physical moves.

After a long time of testing, it has been decided that Zapdos will replace Rotom-Mow on my team. Unless someone has any more suggestions, I think this team is pretty much done.
