It activates after you are out for one turn, protect means you can have it out against anything and it still activates, otherwise you have to force a switch or risk being attacked before it will activate. I don't recommend protect though, it threatens enough to ensure the flame orb activates.

Alright, thanks.
So I'm thinking Facade/U-turn/QA/Brave Bird. Should I go with Aerial Ace over Brave Bird though? It's way less damage, but Burn Orb plus BB might be quite threatening to Swellow's health.

Persoanlly, i think swellow loves brave bird. But facase will hit more stuff harder and brave bird will be mainly for Gengar. It depends really, i would do some damage calculations on things hit harder by brave bird than facade i.e tangrowth. Aerial ace i'm pretty ceratin still deals with Gengar fine but if facades damage on other things aren't good enough keep brave bird.

Personally, the only reason i'd consider aerial ace over brave bird is if you wanted to use baton pass. I'd do the calculations for you but i'm, busy at the moment.

Alright, thanks. Gengar worries me a bit but I'm not giving up 90 power to deal with subs. Thanks a million, I would have never been able to kill stuff with this otherwise.

edit: sorry for the dp
Double edit: Right, I meant to say she was special.

What are pokemon that make good walls?

Now this is an open ended question and a half.

Special:
Blissey
Regice
Snorlax

There are others but these are the best, Blissey is the best of the 3 hands down due to recovery move. Rest talking snorlax however i feel should be more popular than it is.

Physical:
Skarmory
Gliscor
Rhypherior
Forrestress
Donphan
Tangrowth

All these can be considered, Gliscor and skarm win because of roost though. Rhypherior and Donphan has awsome attacking power as well as defense, they can also set up Stealth Rock. Tangrowth, while not a proper wall, takes hits very well. Forrestress Is very sturdy too and along with skarm is one of the best spikers, watch out for fire attacks though.

Mixed:
Cresselia
Bronzong
Dusknoir
Uxie
Umbreon

I'm sure i've missed stuff out of this. These can specialise to be better at taking physical or special attacks or stay mixed. Cresselia is often used as more of a special wall and infact is probably as good as blissey in this respect. Bronzong has useful resists and an immunity to earthquake if levitating. Umbreon is set up fodder but usable, Taunt switch in, mean lok it, baton pass to counter, cool points for you if it works. Dusknoir has a useful rapid spin immunity if you use spikes or stealth rock a lot.

This is by no means a comprehensive list, there are many others that can be considered good for taking hits. Bulky swampert resists the common stone edge and has respectable defenses. Bulky Gyarados can counter the very scary Garchomp. Milotic is generally good and can put things to sleep and with special defense EV's can be considered a decent Specsmence counter. If its specsmence you are particulary scared of when wanting to wall special hits then consider empoleon, high sp.def, draco meteor resistance and ice beam for the win.

So what makes a good wall? High desired defense, high HP, reliable recovery not called rest (unless its of the sleep talking variety) and decent immuninties.

EDIT: Also if you need it, advice for EV's. If something has high defnse but low HP (as is the case with dusknoir as well as others) you will want to pump more into HP than the defenses. If its the other way round (as with the case of hariyama and Vaporeon) then go for defenses first.

I don't think my question was ever answered. . .
Well thats because they are so different, they cover each others really. Ludicolo switches into both special grass and water attacks effortlessly and Rhypherior laughs at most physical attacks launched at Ludicolo. Off the top of my head, Ludicolo is weak to flying, poison and bug, Metagross and Brongzong can eat all of these up. They can also eat up grass attacks launched at Rhypherior.

Alright, then I'll answer it. Electivire would be good to cover Ludicolo (and come to think of it, so would Rhyperior.

For Rhyperior, I'd say Electi to cover Starmie, or maybe Nape to cover Tangrowth.

Ludicolo is weak to Ground, Fighting and Fire. Rhyperior is weak to Fighting, Water, Grass, Ice, Steel and Ground.

A defensive (Roosting) Zapdos would work nicely, as would any sort of Bulky Water, most notably Gyarados. It can take all number of Ground, Fighting, Water, Ice, Steel, Fire and Grass attacks. Just give it some Spin and Wish support!

Eh. . .Ludicolo is weak against Poison, Bug, and Flying.

mmm a kinda stupid question...

"BB color code not allowed"
