Replaying the Etrian Odyssey demo, this time not being a moron and rushing into battles against enemies that are 10X my strength (didn't realize you could pay attention to their movement patterns and avoid them durrrrr), has changed my mind on the game. I've got 10 hours into this demo (lol wat) and am pretty happy with it. The QR code items were nice starter gifts too.

I'm most likely going to get this now, to tide me over till X Y.

And now with the power of Wifi connectivity...

Haha, basically this. You can SpotPass towns / visit previously visited towns through dream walking now too~ Plus New Leaf basically marks the most changes (and positive changes, imo) to the formula since the first one. Animal Crossing isn't really for everyone, but if you found the gameplay absorbing initially, well, with every new AC game there's a thriving community of online players, and a lot of Smogoners will be getting New Leaf if you don't want to play with strangers / potential griefers.

Can it be June now please??

You're going to have to explain to me how you even grief in Animal Crossing. Pulling up flowers?

Yes, people work really hard on their gardens, in some cases planting an entire town full of them, so trampling on all that hard work (especially hybrids, which take time and effort to cultivate) can be devastating. Worse still, there were these. I don't know if there's any such exploit in New Leaf, and with the patch system it can probably be fixed, but caution is always advised when playing with randoms if you care about your flowers~ (Likewise, if you're a guest in someone's town and they have flowers, don't run around near them.) The prominent communities have measures against griefers (such as reputation systems, etc.) and guides and so forth, but I think I'll mostly just stick to playing with Smogoners. ;p I did play WW with strangers many times (but mostly on those communities / more tight-knit places) and never ran into any griefers, but it was a big problem back in the day.

Fair enough. I guess I'm used to TF2 griefing and the absolute myriad of ways people can grief you in Dota 2 that Animal Crossing griefing seems a little bizarre.

I just realized that the new Castlevania, Monster Hunter 3, Lugia's Mansion, Pokemon Mystery Dungeon, and SMT: Devil Summoner-Soul Hackers all come out next month; holy game bomb!

My wallet ;_____;

Also, Fire Emblem Awakening for early game of the year contender? I'm being dead serious too.

Okay if that was an actual game I would buy that shit so fast...

Wow but seriously, Pokemon Mystery Dungeon, Fire Emblem, Mario+Luigi, and Pokemon X/Y all coming out in the next eight months. Nintendo is really trying to get me to spend my bottom dollar on their masterpieces.

This bugs me so much. I've been putting off getting a 3ds for so long because I think the 3ds itself is stupid as shit, but the otherwise exclusive games are making it a must buy :l And now of course all my money is going towards moving out, so lol @ having any money for a 3ds.

Might try and convince my friend to let me borrow her 3ds just so I can play FE:Awakening at the very least.

Don't bother. There's about 150 Pokémon or so available and there's a ton of day 1 DLC (hue).

It said Lugia's Mansion lol. But I would buy both in a heartbeat.

Edit: Oh my goodness, mattj, that... that is a BEAUTIFUL thing. :) honestly lol'd

google says it exists

Also, if you guys haven't watched the vid, in 3D, on your 3DS, I'm quite surprised at how "open-world-ish" this lego game seems to be.

After I played the demo I was quite turned off by how linear the 3DS version of Lego LOTR was. I mean, they can port full Wii games to the 3DS, plus extra content, and they run beautifully. It seems like they so often retard the 3DS versions of many games for no reason. After reading some reviews, if it's still as big and open as it looks to be I'm probably going to have to pick that up for my little girl.

Oh my god the new Mario & Luigi game looks so good. Superstar Saga is still what I consider to be the perfect video game, and the other two games have been pretty good too. I spotted a few throwbacks to SS in the trailer too so that makes me very happy.

In a more immediate point, Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon looks like my next purchase.

My 5 year old daughter keeps hounding me "DADDY! CAN WE BUY LOO-EE-GEE-EES MANSION NOW?!" and I'm like "No, not yet honey." And she's like "BUT WHY NOT NOW?!" "BABY! IT'S NOT EVEN FOR SALE YET!"

Reminding everyone that the Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate demo is going up today. It's already live in Europe and Australia, and is going up at 12pm EST in North America!

So I've been playing MH3 demo and tbh, I'm kinda disappointed. The demo sort of caters to people who have played MH before, it pretty much throws you into the action without explaining any controls.(I can not figure out how to use the Gunlance for the life of me) So I had no ideal what I was doing. Then we come to hunting the monsters which I found to be annoying and frustrating. It's probably because I suck at the game, but I've wailed on that stupid monster snow bunny thing for 20 minutes, and it just doesn't die, I don't even want to try the hard quest.

If any of you can offer me any tips, it would fantastic, because as it stands right now, I won't be buying it.

seems like we played the same thing diveman :p i started out hunting the bunny with the new gunlance. i also didnt know how to use it, i could shoot the rounds and its charge up move but i had no idea what it does or if it did anything. im assuming its some kind of close to mid range bullet but i really couldnt do shit with it with in battle vs a agile and fast rabbit.

i was able to fell the monster, in what must have been with seconds left (and if you havent played monster hunter before, this length of time is normal). his snowball attack was very annoying especially when cha cha wasnt around to kick me out of it. otherwise it was a good monster, not especially hard.

what was hard though were the controls, i had a very difficult time with the camera. otherwise it was a pretty normal monster hunter and enjoyed it and expect to play a lot more of the demo later. id recommend people pick up the wii u version though since i would assume the controls to be better. but if you have to pick it up for the 3ds, please use the XL version.

In Japan so far. If they don't release them in the US I WILL INVADE THEM AND TAKE THEM BY FORCE.

also

MONSTER HUNTER ULTIMATE FOR 3DS WILL ACTUALLY BE PLAYABLE ON WIFI

YEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

oh wait

you have to own a WiiU and a copy of Monster Hunter Ultimate for the WiiU and some adapter and then you can plug your 3DS into your WiiU and play Monster Hunter online with your 3DS

while you could be playing it on your HD TV on your WiiU

??????????????????????????????????????????

No. It's a standalone application for the Wii U. It allows the 3DS version to join a room created by a Wii U player online. You don't need to own a copy of the game, but you can't create a lobby. Also yes you need a LAN adapter which means we should be getting a proper one for the Wii U soon.

I still can't understand why you'd want to play Ultimate on your tiny 3DS sitting on your couch right in front of your WiiU and HD TV, when you can transfer your save to the WiiU version. For the 3D I guess?
