I copied some of my Pokemon from Pearl to PBR, and I thought it said the game synchronizes your Pokes to a proper level. But when I tried using my Level 55 Gyarados, Level 63 Dragonite and Level 83 Gengar, I faced a Level 83 Marshtomp. So is there anything I can do to make sure it reduces levels to 50 for all Pokemon?

Was this free battle, with no level limitations? if so, then just change the settings to level 50 limit like "the man.....tyke" said.
You can, but you have to beat Stargazer Colosseum first (last unlockable colosseum).
Rental Passes should be enough to beat the game for the first time though. IMO the Daisy (Cool Girl) Rental Pass that you can get at Gateway Colosseum midway through the game is pretty good (nice movesets, somewhat ok Pokemon).
So if we already have a team of level 100's on our diamonds/pearls and put them on PBR, it will all be fine?
Yup. All your opponents will be the level of your highest level Pokemon. You'd be fine with a team that was all level 30, really. As long as everybody is on the same level.
Actually, my sister managed to beat a level 91 something-or-other with her level 51 Uxie, because all the opponents on PBR = Suck. Really, if they're close leveled, they'll be fine. No need to waste your time getting 2-3 extra levels that won't make a difference unless your Pokémon suck as hard as the opponents'.
Well, I can't defeat the Sunset Colosseum (the one where 12 random Pokemon are selected)...and where do I pick up the Daisy pass, or any new pass in general?
You have to go to the Gateway Colosseum and select "borrow new pass" when you start a challenge. If you win every match with it, you get to keep it.
As for Sunset, I won with a team of Riolu/Grovyle/Gabite/Luxio on my second try against Dusty.
I'm not sure if you got a coherent explanation so in any case, here's the low-down.
There are two types of level balance, level 30 open and level 50 All. You unlock level 50 All Colosseum battles by beating all of the inital Colosseum battles, which are set at the default level 30 Open. You can beat the Colosseums multiple times, and they get harder every rank.
Level 30 Open means basically that all of your opponent's pokemon will be set to the level of your highest pokemon. If your pokemon are all below 30, the opponent will still be a 30, though.
Level 50 All means that all of the pokemon in battle will be set to level 50.
All Wifi battles are level 50 all.
