SPOILER
It kind of took me awhile to get used to Akame Ga Kiru's pace, but once I was in the groove it was a fun read. The story really picked up after Braht's death and Tatsumi's inheritance of his Teigu, as well as the formation of the Jaegers.
Also did you guys forget about him?
I am suspecting that the angel dude is an agent of this guy (who is supposedly the son of the general that Tatsumi killed?)
General impressions: The deaths so far hasn't really surprised me (maybe because you warned me about them). Chelsea's death was probably the most saddening loss from Night Raid (she was such a cool character ;<), but it was pretty much forewarned (and predicted, seeing how she was pitting herself against KUROME). Although I do have to admit, the first chapter with Tatsumi's two village comrades in the torture chamber was FUCKED UP. Also, I was expecting Tatsumi to die in that first chapter, because of your warning xD (I mean he was facing AKAME).
I dig the whole Teigu concept. I particularly like Incursio (and by extension Grand Chariot) and Susanoo, because they have so many cool hidden strengths! Kurome's Yatsuhusa is cool, too, only for the sole reason that it summons lot of interesting characters for Night Raids to beat. I also enjoyed Bor's Rubicante / Mein's Pumpkin super-flashy action scenes. The demon's blood that courses through Desde's veins and Tatsumi's flesh living armor are also all interesting perks to these Teigus! That's why the latest four body-stretching enemies are so fucking lame!
Peachy, when you brought up how gory this manga was, I couldn't help but compare this manga to Gantz, which imo is a much better read. Totally different setting, i know, but you get the same "survivor game" sort of vibe. I like how Gantz is more "believable," (lol!). The story lacks the "cuteness" factor of Akame Ga Kiru, and it's A LOT more mature (nudity, rape, sex, on top of gory violence), so it's certainly not meant for everyone, but it's just that much more intense, imo (especially the action scenes and the plot line). The world of Gantz literally keeps on expanding to ridiculous proportions. It's kind of winding down, though.
Thanks for sharing this manga - nice find, peachy!
