Isn't a tank something that takes hits from both ends of the spectrum, like Cresselia or Dusknoir, while a wall is just something can absorb only one type of attack, like Torterra or Snorlax.

just how much damage does Pursuit does when you catch them on the switching?
It's only been done to me like 3 times but when it hit me when I switched it did an insane amount.

No. In most places I've seen, Walls and Tanks have Physical, Special, and Mixed prefixes to specify what they block against.

It does double the power, from 40 to 80.

Tanks have registered in my mind as a pokemon that has a big defense stat naturally and uses a move to raise the other making them almost impossible to kill like a tank (Curselax, CMBro, etc).

I always saw Walls and Tanks as defensive Pokemon. The distinction is that Tanks can double as Sweepers that rely on their defenses rather than their Speed.

"xxx avoided the attack!"

What the hell does this mean, and how did it happen when Explosion has 100% accuracy?

Errr... if you're in Fog, if they used Double Team, then it can miss. Also, I'm not sure if it's still the case, but all Pokemon have a natural 4.6% natural evasion. I remember reading something about it in a mathematical analysis, not sure if it's credible though.

pokemon haven't had natural evasion since RBY or GSC, check up on your facts before you post them.

in any case, it was probably some natural form of Evasion like Sand Veil Garchomp or something.

"XYZ avoided the attack" refers to any and all attacks that, in doubles play, can hit one or more targets.

example:

Empoleon used Surf
Doubleteam Umbreon AVOIDED THE ATTACK!
Surf hits Infernape, It's super effective!

only 80? then what's the big deal then? for some pokemon people are like "omg pursuit!!"

Think about it this way:
A CB Heracross using Pursuit at 40 does 190 - 223 to Azelf.
A CB Heracross using Pursuit at 80 does 376 - 443 to Azelf.

Azelf has only 291 HP. And he doesn't get a chance to attack.

(Let's assume the Azelf isn't going to use Plotted Flamethrower to blow Heracross to hell =D)

Togekiss avoided my Metagross' Explosion right off the bat in the Wi-Fi Tower, no Double Team/Minimize... uh, is there a difference between "avoided the attack" and "missed"?

May have been Brightpowder or the like... bleh.

Using MetalKid's:

Defender HP: 384
Damage: 347 - 408

Yes... some of the time. I used the Bulkiest build, the 212 HP/180 Def spread.

If it isn't a Bulky Gyarados, then definitely.

OH DAMN. I forgot the Intimidate function is broken on MetalKid's.

Defender HP: 384
Damage: 233 - 274

That's the real damage. I just dropped Aero's attack by a stage. So sorry.

In Battle Tower, the higher you go, the more lucky the opponents are. I met my end on streak... 120-something at the hands of a Choice Scarf (or really damn fast) Gliscor with Gulliotine.

I just contracted the Pokerus virus (suprising considering ive never even seen a shiny since the onix i caught in GSC) and on Wikipedia it says "In the fourth generation of games, it will not stop being contagious even after 24 hours", implying that the virus will not go away. Can anybody who has gotten the Pokerus in Diamond/Pearl confirm this for me?

Yes. The game only check for your party's pokémons infected with Pokérus at midnight. If they do have the virus, they are "cured" (they'll keep the virus, but will not be able to pass it), otherwise, huh, nothing happens. So, if you want to keep Pokérus alive, just deposit a random infected one at the Box. The game doesn't check the boxes for Pokérus.
